Was your daughter on a school trip at Alton towers today?

Was she late for her bus? did the teacher lose his rag at her in the middle of the entrance area? If so is she ok?

Can’t believe what I saw today, two girls were 20 mins late back, yes they should be in trouble but they did not deserve some teacher screaming at them, I was 75 metres away and could hear everything I felt so sorry for the girls. I was in a queue and I wasn’t talking about it to the other people in the queue, I was about to go over, but another teacher did.

Would love the name of the school to make a complaint to. Heat is not an excuse, I have lived in hot countries and never saw a teacher lose it like he did.

I know it’s not Aibu but posted here for traffic....

roly but I think have said the second adult (I assumed it was a teacher) went over and shouting stopped

Yet only one of the two teachers thought this.

So what? Do they have to reach a consensus before either can act? Doesn't alter the point I was making. Those 20 minutes must have absolute, potentially career-ending hell.

(Am not a teacher, btw)

ColoursOfRain · 29/06/2018 21:20

I would imagine (seeing as I wasn't there and the op couldn't hear...) that the 2nd teacher came over to say that they were late and to continue the shouting on the bus...

WTFnnoh · 29/06/2018 21:20

I cannot believe so many people sticking up for this teacher. Yeah the girls were 100% in the wrong but probably accidentally. I can think of 100 better ways to handle this situation than shouting. It’s so ridiculously unprofessional and immature. What adult deals with a stressful situation but losing their temper and yelling?? Can you think of another profession that would tolerate that behaviour. How embarrassing for him. The girls should have had a consequence to their action if it was their fault and they were unapologetic but things like this happen on school trips and should be planned for, not end in a teaching losing their rag in front of bystanders.

Zzz1234 · 29/06/2018 21:20

red exactly, if you can’t get your point across without shouting then you have problems therefore teacher if you can’t rollick girls without shouting then you have problems

OP posts:
Anasnake · 29/06/2018 21:21

it's none of your business op

Sirzy · 29/06/2018 21:22

But if a second teacher had done over and shouted that would have made it too much. But for them to go over to support their colleague and then move them to the bus would be normal.

By be way would “rollicking” boys by shouting be ok then? Why the need to differentiate in your last post?

nokidshere · 29/06/2018 21:23

red exactly, if you can’t get your point across without shouting then you have problems therefore teacher if you can’t rollick girls without shouting then you have problems

Does that mean it's ok to rollick boys?

ColoursOfRain · 29/06/2018 21:23

And maybe the shouting was deliberate because the teacher knows it's the way to get through to them and other methods don't work.

qwertyuiopy · 29/06/2018 21:24

Anasnake Of course it is the OP’s business. She was stood there watching and listening to it happen.

When would you say it WOULD become her business? If the teacher hit them?

Shakes head at narrow minded idiots...

Thecrabbypatty · 29/06/2018 21:25

If the coach leaving regardless isn't a goer how about parents of late students pay the overtime of all staff accompanying the trip (if overtime was actually a thing) and financially reimburse the other students and parents for their wasted time? I would happily let the minutes tick by and calmly greet and welcome the selfish gits with open arms back onto the coach.

NotTakenUsername · 29/06/2018 21:25

Plot twist!

‘Teacher’ was actually a parent helper and not only that, but he was father and uncle to the two girls that were late... Wink

NotACleverName · 29/06/2018 21:25

therefore teacher if you can’t rollick girls without shouting then you have problems

As someone who had the misfortune of going to an all girls secondary school, sometimes girls need to be "rollicked."

I'm sure these two poor snowflakes will have survived the ordeal and live to fuck about another day.

Deadringer · 29/06/2018 21:26

Stop the press, teacher shouts at tardy, selfish teens! If those girls were upset they will tell their parents who will no doubt get on to the head to complain. Op if you witnessed it and weren't upset enough or shocked enough to do anything about it at the time you can hardly expect people on here to care to get riled up about it. Yabu

qwertyuiopy · 29/06/2018 21:26

ColoursOfRain

No doubt a slap would get through to them also... 🙄

Anasnake Of course it is the OP’s business. She was stood there watching and listening to it happen.

Yes, it was her business, yes she stood their and watched.

At the point in time when she could actually have done something she bottled it, and is now trying desperately to sooth her conscience by faffing around on the internet.

EdWinchester · 29/06/2018 21:26

I’m sure that teacher was understandably furious.

However, shouting at those girls was unprofessional and wrong.

I’d be very annoyed if my child was ‘screamed at’. I’ve been a parent for 20 years and have managed to tell mine off without losing it to that extent. I’d expect the teacher to show a bit of self control.

mathanxiety · 29/06/2018 21:27

Everyone is happy to make up stuff about the teacher, BoneyBack.
And also about the girls.
...I thought I would join the fun but be all contrary-like.

Indeed, RolyRocks, the second teacher might not have directly contradicted the first one in front of the girls, no matter what their personal thoughts on the situation may have been. Second guessing the first teacher out loud would have been completely unprofessional. Far more tactful, and practical, for him or her to suggest that the driver wanted to get started or some such disguised plea to get a grip for the love of puppies, while keeping his/her judgement of the situation to him or herself until the trip post mortem later.

RedForFilth · 29/06/2018 21:28

Does that mean it's ok to rollick boys? there's always one! I believe "girls" was used as this particular scenario involved girls.

Nacknick · 29/06/2018 21:28

How many times do PPs have to ask - what did he shout??

londonrach · 29/06/2018 21:29

That poor teacher. The worry. What selfish children. I hope their mum is mn and can deal with this. 20 minutes is a long time. Their old enough to know better.

qwertyuiopy · 29/06/2018 21:31

BoneyBackJefferson The OP can post what she likes. She’s asked if it was any of our children as she saw it happen. Good use of internet I’d say.

nokidshere · 29/06/2018 21:32

How many times do PPs have to ask - what did he shout??

It doesn't matter because it will be mostly made up. I can shout for England (brought up in a large family needing to be heard Wink) but even I would have difficulty making my words clear enough to be heard 250 ft away especially in a busy place.

Zzz1234 · 29/06/2018 21:32

boney I have already said I should have done something, if the other teacher had not gone over I would have. But sometimes we don’t always act when we should, maybe I was thinking shit someone will do something soon.
edwinchester I agree

qwertyuiopy · 29/06/2018 21:32

“That poor teacher” my arse. They were unprofessional and not fit to look after children.
