Not in my name

I am shaking with anger and horror here... an utterly vicious and horrid attack on all levels.... the ferocity was shocking.

For it then to be attributed to women when they are clearly male is so very shocking on so very many levels......

This has gone too far..... How have the police ever agreed to count crimes committed by males as crimes committed by women, just on the say so of the male committing the crime?

I knew this was happening but I hadn't realised that anyone could "self-id" as female to the police.... How has this happened?

I was a reporter (pre IPSO and privacy laws) and a decent editor knew they could publish anything that was legal and not defamatory. It's whether or not they want to.

R0wantrees · 29/06/2018 19:49

Did you watch the video of the editors being interviewed by the Home Affairs committee? It seemed to me there may have been quite a lot going on around their answers.
I had wondered if Levenson 2 was relevent. (this is very idle speculation though)

What do you think is going on?

Pratchet · 29/06/2018 19:52

Combination of grooming, fear and can't be arsed to fight it because it's just women. Easy life.

Pratchet · 29/06/2018 19:54

Like, the BBC diversity bloke at the forum said he was having regular chats with Helen Belcher of Trans Media Watch about the Beeb's approach. Can't imagine him having regular chats with Ruth Serwotka, can you?

R0wantrees · 29/06/2018 19:58

Oh... I had, perhaps naively, hoped some were biding their time.
They will surely come under additional pressure following incidents like this though. (although if this article didn't force the matter, perhaps not)

R0wantrees · 29/06/2018 20:01

Sorry X post.
I rather think the BBC's reportings would be better if he did.

This has nothing to do with feminism. Feminists are not in favour of men being able to self ID as women and access women only spaces and services.

AynRandTheObjectivist · 29/06/2018 20:22

Oh shut up nat, nothing's more irritating than a whinging MRA crybaby in a predominantly female space trying to blame feminism for absolutely everything, including males acting like shits.

Pratchet · 29/06/2018 20:22

I don't think there is any pressure. Do women even complain any more to the BBc? It's so pro trans and amyway, AllAboutTrans had their cute little get together with the Head of Complaints. Has anyone ever had a decent response? I doubt.

Welcome to political correctness gone mad- if they identify as a woman then the police have to treat them as such. No need to shake and get angry. Feminism has gone too far, PC madness is turning us stupid. If I as a male decide to identify as a bird- I mean woman- and dressed up as such then thats what I will be known as with the way modern transgender recognition works. Take a deep breath- common sense has gone out the window. Even Germain Greer and others agree we have gone too far. Some insight: Planetcommonsense.com

My bollocks pale into insignificance next to those you're spouted here.
A man wanting to live the life of a woman (as best they can) is not the issue, and never was.
The issue is that such a man, can never actually BE a woman. We can refer to them as women, try to treat them as women, but they will never actually BE a woman. Biologically it's impossible.

In trying to 'treat' them as a woman, we've gone too far with actually defining them as a bona fide woman, which distorts medical, criminal and sporting records, and diminishes the rights of biological women who are expected to give up the most sacrosanct of female spaces, including those specifically designed to protect them from violent and manipulative men.

It's nothing like feminism 'gone too far', it's entirely about glossing over biological fact in the name of 'protecting' a minority group but in the course of 'protecting' that group, compromising the rights of all biological women.

Greer's comments on feminism are not related to this. She's referring to some feminists who have some seriously radical views. There's a wide range of feminists in this world and their views can differ on some subjects, but their fundamental goal of liberty for all women remains.
All biological women that is.

They aren't against transwomen. Many feminists sympathise hugely with transwomen trying to live a normal life as a woman, but wish to draw a clear distinction between such a 'woman' and a biological woman.

They have little regard for men dressing as women carrying out horrifically violent acts, or stroking their penis as they enjoy their 'womanhood'. These are men in drag. Always have been, always will be.

Feminism has gone too far

This is the total opposite of feminism ya plank.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 29/06/2018 21:12

Feminism has gone too far

Grin what a prized doughnut! I shouldn’t laugh but couldn’t help myself

thenightsky · 29/06/2018 21:40

Men beating the shit out of a man is 'feminism gone too far'?? Confused

Can you explain how this has anything to actually do with feminism?

waterlego6064 · 29/06/2018 21:46

Toxic femininity, innit?

AynRandTheObjectivist · 29/06/2018 21:49

Oh leave him be. With this heatwave, hopefully all his MRA tears will keep us from having a hosepipe ban.

TornFromTheInside · 29/06/2018 22:05

I'm pretty sure he's fondling his hosepipe as we speak.

AynRandTheObjectivist · 29/06/2018 22:53

Well he's just been banned so he can focus all his energy.

There has been a request for clarification, quote below is from Ann Sinnott (Cambridge Labour Cllr Petersfield Ward. Lead Cllr: Domestic Violence/Abuse and Community Safety; Anti-Poverty Strategy.):

"Someone contacted @LBC to say they were men. LBC replied, We have gone back to British Transport Police in light of your email. Their response is that, “We classify individuals’ sex according to what sex they present themselves as and how they would like to be defined.”"

His mra tears😂😂😂

AynRandTheObjectivist · 30/06/2018 17:29

Seriously, have you ever heard that lot? You thought your toddler was a screaming, whinging crybaby? They put your toddler to absolute shame. And at least your toddler has the excuse of actually being two years old.

TornFromTheInside · 30/06/2018 17:40

She is absolutely right. How are we going to record proper crime stats (and maybe learn more about the reasons why men do what they do) when the figures are so crudely distorted.

Furthermore, in the future, how will history accurately represent the truth that biological men tended to carry out the vast majority of violence? There will be no trace in the records of biological sex, only their self-identified gender.

If a transwoman needs an urgent organ donation, will their self-ID gender take precedence over their biological sex and a) risk their life, and b) deny someone else the correct biological transplant?

R0wantrees · 30/06/2018 22:22

Interesting commentary from Jean Hatchet (she has considerable knowledge of legalities)
