I am so fed up of lazy arse dog owners pretending they don’t notice when their dog takes a dump and leaving it lying.
It’s not difficult to bag it and bin it. It’s absolutely foul. I live next to playing fields and they are stinking of dog shit in this heat. When they cut the grass.. it spreads and stinks. The kids walk through the fields to the playpark and it ends up on the equipment. So I have to avoid my local park.
I went for a nice walk to a different area yesterday and ended up with shit on my pram wheels. I spent ten minutes scraping it off and ended up rolling over ANOTHER one with my front wheel and had nothing to get it off with. I live in a flat and don’t have a hose or anything so getting it properly cleaned off is going to be a pain in the arse.

My son last week went out with his favourite shoes on and came back with shit up the side and on his leg and hadn’t noticed.
I despair.

I see the occasional person pick up but a lot leave it behind. Why?! Does it smell too bad? Well then don’t have a dog.

I totally agree. I have 2 dogs and it's really not difficult to pick up their pooh! I have a carabiner clip to attach pooh bags to my bag or jeans belt loop until I find a bin. In winter a bag of steaming pooh keeps my hands warm!

Bearhunter09 · 26/06/2018 17:11

I genuinely don’t get why people don’t pick it up. We have a little holder that attaches to the lead to hold poo bags so you can’t forget them. It takes seconds to pick it up. I’d say 95% of dog owners I see pick it up. If I see some one leaving it I’ll call them back.

AndInOtherNews · 26/06/2018 17:12

Amen to that! Absolutely could not agree more. Theres a thread ongoing about people picking up not only their own dogs poo but that of others.

Soubriquet · 26/06/2018 17:12

I always do

I've currently started a thread in the dog chat, about how we pick up other dogs poo too

It's not fair to leave it if you can pick it up

SweetSummerchild · 26/06/2018 17:21

YANBU

As someone who is partially sighted, I could quite happily murder dog owners who just leave dog shit lying on footpaths.

There is no excuse.

crispysausagerolls · 26/06/2018 17:24

YADNBU!!!!!!!!!!!! When I am out walking my dog and I see another owner not picking up the poo I always try to say something! Usually they just ignore and walk off - I don’t understand it at all! Especially if they walk in the same park every day, it’s so disgusting. I always think about mothers with prams or little children especially running in it. People are so disgusting.

MaMisled

Out of curiosity, why are you saying “Pooh” as in Winnie the? 😂😂😂

crispysausagerolls · 26/06/2018 17:25

bearhunter

Do they come back when you call? I find that they never do!

bluerunningshoes · 26/06/2018 17:29

yabu
'cause every dog owner on mn always picks up after their dogs Wink

Clinicalwaste · 26/06/2018 17:29

Yadnbu op every day I walk my pre school daughter and dogs and I pick up after my dogs but always seem to pick up after another person as well in the same spot in a nice lane way. It is so annoying and selfish. They get a fairy to pick up after their dog every day and because I want the lane to be clean I have to do it myself, it is so selfish.

Lethaldrizzle · 26/06/2018 17:29

To the people who say they always do, are you sure? I've seen people walking well ahead of their dogs utterly oblivious to the the shits that are shat!

Tonicwaterandgin · 26/06/2018 17:30

I've been sworn at/told to "get a life" when I've challenged other dog owners over not picking it up. Only once did a man say "I haven't got a bag" and I handed him one and he picked it up, but there were lots of people about and I think it would have been embarrassing for him to refuse.
I also pick up dog poo that's not my own dogs, we walk up a footpath to and from school which loads of children use so I can't leave it.

Tonicwaterandgin · 26/06/2018 17:32

@lethaldrizzle in my experience most responsible dog owners know when their dog is likely to poo and keeps an eye on them at those times. Also most responsible dog owners don't walk off ahead of their dog!

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 26/06/2018 17:34

I called a man out on this today. I was walking through a car park on the way to school and his dog did an enormous one; he either didn’t see or pretended not to see.

I called out to him and he thanked me (he may not have been that grateful that I stood and watched to make sure he cleaned it up but I am so sick of it)

LankinMcElf · 26/06/2018 17:35

People who don’t pick up their dogs shite should be tracked down and made to eat it

mrcharlie · 26/06/2018 17:38

I completely agree OP
The problem is now so bad, that drastic action is the only way to re-educate dog owners.
The council should have snapchat and what'sapp and encourage others to send pictures giving road details. Wardens should be out on scooters to hand fines out. And as for the fines...I would suggest 10% of the annual salary of the dog owner. It would net the councils more dosh than traffic wardens. Or better still the the police new powers to shoot both dog and owner....problem solved!

honeybeeq · 26/06/2018 17:46

I picked my dog up from surgery on Wednesday last week the vet had said he wasn't likely to poop for 24 hours on the phone, I got to the vet with, no poo bags and about 3 steps away from the vets he stopped to do a poo 🤦‍♀️ so I stopped someone who was walking a Labrador and asked if I could use a poo bag, I should have been more prepared but I sorted it I usually have them in every pocket!

Gaspodethetalkingdog · 26/06/2018 17:48

A lot of this is dog walkers - ask the council to get them licensed and insured. Our local parish council has banned dogs from the playing field because of this.

HappyLollipop · 26/06/2018 17:51

It's disgusting, why get a dog if your not willing to take on the full responsibility of having it? We seem to have a problem around my area with people letting their dogs poo on the pavement and I've had to wipe dog poo of the pram wheels far too many times. I've not had the pleasure of catching one of them out though as I will be calling them out when I do and I'll even let them use one of my nappy sacks if they don't have a carrier bag to hand!

crispysausagerolls · 26/06/2018 17:51

People who “don’t see” their dog shitting are pretending. Everyone is vaguely aware of where their dog is and what they are doing - or at least they should be. Usually a dog runs in front of the owner, and if you have walked past him you know he is stopping for a reason, and what that reason most likely is!

FrozenMargarita17 · 26/06/2018 17:53

I 100% agree. As a dog owner I would NEVER leave his poo anywhere.

OnlyToWin · 26/06/2018 17:54

“The shits that are shat”

That really made me laugh!Grin

Slartybartfast · 26/06/2018 17:56

i agree, pick it up, and keep an eye on your dog in case of defecation, go back to it, up to it, and pick up the poo.

0lgaDaPolga · 26/06/2018 22:24

Totally agree, it’s everywhere and it’s disgusting. A while ago I walked past 2 old ladies complaining that someone had flytipped a bin bag of rubbish on a footpath, while one of their dogs did a massive poo which was then ignored. So rude and ignorant Angry

MissMildred · 26/06/2018 22:28

Totally agree. As a dog owner I'm appalled by this. We have some lovely walks near us and owners let their dogs run on ahead and they crap wherever they like. I've even taken a friend to task on this when we were out walking and she said 'oh well, it's in the long grass' and made a cursory gesture of covering it up with leaves. Disgusting (I ended up picking it up for her).

AgentProvocateur · 26/06/2018 22:31

I couldn’t pick up dog shit if my life depended on it. Which is why I would never have a dog, even though I’d love everything else about having one.
