To ask what your suncream you use on your toddlers faces?

I've always used Banana Boat spray as my dsis used it with her kids and recommended it. The problem is when I use it on my (just turned) 3 year olds face eventually it gets into his eyes and they look very sore. Surely this happens with all suncream /spray? Or am I missing something?

Banana boat irritated my child’s eyes. I use Nivea Baby or Soltan and that’s been fine.

HariboFrenzy · 24/06/2018 22:35

Thanks discotits (great username Grin). I wonder if lotions are generally better than sprays too?

Boots soltan do a stick one which is great for little faces, never gets in their eyes. I'm a childminder and always use this ( with parental permission, obviously).

Sun sense roll on.

namastethefuckawayfrommenow · 24/06/2018 22:36

Ladival is brilliant

steff13 · 24/06/2018 22:37

We use a brand called La Roche-Posey.

steff13 · 24/06/2018 22:37

La Roche-Posay.

Discotits · 24/06/2018 22:40

I might add actually, that what I sometimes do is use La Roche Posey (mentioned above) as it doesn’t irritate at all, and then use a cheapo one on the arms etc. The La Roche is my fancy one. It doesn’t sweat off. I don’t have any problems as such with the soltan or Nivea but it’s thicker.

Wide0penSpace · 24/06/2018 23:02

I agree with WisestIsShe - the boots soltan stick is great for kids. My DS also used to get sore eyes but not since using this.

XiCi · 24/06/2018 23:08

La roche posay anthelios

Cathmidston · 24/06/2018 23:19

The organic pharmacy one.. it’s great

Foxsox · 24/06/2018 23:19

I use soltan face or la Roche posay on my toddler

I've also used garnier face moisturiser with spf 20 (and reapplied) as it was more gentle on the face
I found banana boat and Nivea made their eyes stream.

HariboFrenzy · 25/06/2018 03:00

Thanks all. Will check out Soltan and LA Roche Posay

We use Wilco cheap stuff, not had a problem.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 25/06/2018 05:49

Soltan and La Roche Posay here too

43percentburnt · 25/06/2018 05:53

Any supermarket one that is factor 50 and 5 star uva. Some of the expensive ones only have 4 star UVA cover. There is an Aldi one goes on very well, think it’s the spray one.

ellesbellesxxx · 25/06/2018 05:53

Child’s farm

PragmaticWench · 25/06/2018 05:59

We've settled on La Roche Posay as DD had a reaction to Child's Farm that lasted five days, but she does have very sensitive skin to be fair!

43percentburnt · 25/06/2018 06:03

Looking at the website Morrison’s factor 50 own has 5 UVA stars, Nivea 4. I noticed this was often the case a few years ago but have no idea why branded suncream is often lower uva.

There was a recent which report into suncream, they established supermarket brands costing under £3 were just as good as named brands. In the case of swimming the own brand out performed a branded product.

Hereshopingforimprovement · 25/06/2018 06:12

Ds has eczema and Aldi is the only one that doesn't irritate his face.

SleepingTurtle · 25/06/2018 06:19

I've also heard good things about La Roche Posay, but at the moment we are using The Green People organic mineral sun cream which is also highly recommended.
It's been brilliant, no irritation at all on DD or on DH who normally really struggles with sun cream.

MariaMadita · 25/06/2018 06:25

I currently don't use anything (because the baby isn't born yet).

My sister uses Eucerin kids for her children.

NightlyCircus · 25/06/2018 06:27

We use La Roche Posay on the face and Boots Soltan hypoallergenic 8 hour everywhere else.

The La Roche Posay is expensive, but DD has really really sensitive skin and has had nasty allergic reactions to lots of others (brand and supermarket own).

TheWineDarkSea · 25/06/2018 06:44

Dd2 has really nasty reactions (eyes swollen nearly shut, lots of crying) to most sun creams on her face. Except my expensive Skinceuticals mineral radiance. So I use that on her face and the normal stuff everywhere else.

hungryhippie · 25/06/2018 06:50

The only one that doesnt irritate my son is the mineral based one from Green People. It is chemical free so even if it goes in his eyes, it doesnt hurt. Its not that expensive either.
