To ask what your suncream you use on your toddlers faces?

I've always used Banana Boat spray as my dsis used it with her kids and recommended it. The problem is when I use it on my (just turned) 3 year olds face eventually it gets into his eyes and they look very sore. Surely this happens with all suncream /spray? Or am I missing something?

Aldi all day 40 SPF

MrsJamin · 25/06/2018 07:09

Altruist spf 50, formulated by a skin cancer doctor and available on amazon. I use it every day on my face and on the kids before school. It's got 5 stars UVA which is the thing to look for.

Just a warning while it is good for sensitive skin the La Roche Posay cream does not smell that nice. The soltan one smells nicer and is good on sensitive skin too.

Luxembourgmama · 25/06/2018 07:18

Roche posay. They do handy mini bottles for your handbag too so you're never without if it's suddenly sunny

Nivea factor 50

MrsJamin · 25/06/2018 14:22

Nivea Factor 50 is not 5* UVA even though it is a high SPF so I wouldn't use it, on children especially.

Another vote for Ladival. Ridiculous price but literally the only thing that doesn't set ds's eczema off... .

MariaMadita · 25/06/2018 14:34

@MrsJasmin

Is there a reliable source to look this up online?

My sister's kids get the Eucerin 50 kids. (And I use the Eucerin 30 kids and LRP anthelios...)

But idk what I'd use for the LO (next spring/summer. Knock on wood.)

Do hospitals have brochures on this?Confused

Soltan baby factor 50 on both 4yo and 10 month old. DD1 had a skin reaction to the banana boat one when we tried it last year so we went back to soltan baby.

Lovea sun cream factor 50. Very gentle

lunamoths · 25/06/2018 15:11

My grandma was buying sun cream last week and a lady who worked in the chemist told her that babies can only use "baby" or child sun cream? I have never heard of this has anyone else?

verite · 25/06/2018 15:14

I use la Roche posay or if needed for long period ultrasun family.

MrsJamin · 25/06/2018 16:21

@mariamadita This seems to be a good summary from a scientific rather than marketing source.

BeijingBarbie · 25/06/2018 16:43

Soltan Spray - but I spray it onto my hands before rubbing on to her face, that way we avoid eyes...Soltan is the only brand where every sun cream (whatever factor) has UVA 5 stars

PuppetOnAString · 25/06/2018 16:52

La Roche-Posay.

We use this, my DC have eczema and they seem to be ok with it.
