I love my little carrot top. It looks so cute, thick copper hair.

The pic where he is asleep in his car seat, with the grey cardi on, he was around 5 weeks old.

The last two were taken today at 18 weeks old. It's got very whispy at the top and sides. He has a bald patch at the back like most babies.

Has anyone had a ginger baby and they've changed colour?

Dont want the gingeness to go Sad

I wouod have a look at the colour of his eyebrows.

Both my dcs have grown to get the hair colour of their eyebrowns.
Dc1 hair got darker.
Dc2 hair stayed very blond.
Both had a similar colour when they were born

MrsStrowman · 12/09/2018 11:03

My DM.was very ginger as a child, her hair became more auburn as she reached adulthood. I had blonde hair as a child which has become darker, but has a real red tint especially when I've been in the sun, people often ask me where I have my colour done (I don't). DB has a hunt beard of he lets it grow. If the ginger is there it'll stay in some format.

ladycarlotta · 12/09/2018 11:05

oh, he's delightful. It looks so beautiful - I'd rather like to be surprised by a ginger baby, but I suppose it's unlikely.

HermioneGoesBackHome · 12/09/2018 11:05

Btw the last photo of your dc is gorgeous. Such a beautiful smile!

Leesa65 · 12/09/2018 11:09

Beautiful hair on your little girl Freddy

I was born with lots of jet black hair as well . It fell out and grew back a chestnut shade of brown . Its now brown but dyed , so many silvers at the roots . sigh.

sugarbum · 12/09/2018 11:12

There's no way of knowing.
Mine was born with straight ginger hair. He lost it all and went blond and straight, but then it went curly.
Gradually darkened.
Now its a mixture of colours (blonde, ginger, brown, red) but it looks brown unless you look closely. And its straight.
Oh his eyes have gone from bright blue to green as well

I have no idea, but he is gorgeous!

spiderlight · 12/09/2018 11:15

Oh my goodness - he is scrumptious!! I think he's ginger to stay but you never can tell. I was that colour when I was born and mine darkened by the time I was about 4 and then lightened to blonde with a vague reddish tint in some lights. My DS was also that colour as a baby and his has stayed red, although it's fading more towards strawberry blond now at 11, especially in the summer, and then gets redder again when there's less sun. It's a beautiful colour and everyone comments on it, but he hates it!

Politicalacuityisathing · 12/09/2018 11:22

@Lokibear your Dd's hair is stunning! OP - agree with those saying it could go either way. I was sure my DD would keep her ginger but it faded out to blonde. In the right light she has a ginge tinge though. What a braw wee boy you have x

Georgias87 · 12/09/2018 11:22

He says thanks for your comments everyone!

He's looking a bit blonder now (but still scrummy!)

Pornstarlips · 12/09/2018 12:51

I don't think I was being rude. Red hair looks ok on others but personally. I wouldn't want it on me or my DCs. some of the nicest people I have met are ginger people

HandlebarTash81 · 12/09/2018 12:53

My little girl was really red when she was first born. She’s six now and white blonde! Congratulations. He’s lovely.

Georgias87 · 12/09/2018 14:17

Still think you are being rude! There are some attributes I wouldn't particularly want my children to have but if I met parents who had children with them I wouldn't say oh I'm glad my child doesn't have that! It's just not polite!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/09/2018 14:22

Pornstar it would probably have been best not to comment the way you did especially on a thread where people are happily posting about how they love red hair Wink

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/09/2018 14:25

Both my ginger DDs turned honey blond with strawberry blond highlights. DD2's is going mid-brown at 11.

lifeofdreams · 12/09/2018 14:28

Yeah he’ll stay ginger

lifeofdreams · 12/09/2018 14:29

pornstarlips

Aren’t you a treat?

Amanduh · 12/09/2018 14:41

Well of course it’s rude. And discriminatory and insulting. Would you say that about skin colour?
Thought not.

Ellapaella · 12/09/2018 14:46

Two of mine were ginger at birth, one is now a strawberry blonde the other is still ginger. They both have brown eyes and dark brown eyebrows and lashes though so maybe not 'true' gingers? My eldest was white blonde and is now dark brown.
Don't know where it comes from as neither DH or I are gingers although we do both have reddish undertones in our hair.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/09/2018 14:56

LokiBear That's gorgeous and a great talking point.

JellySlice · 12/09/2018 18:58

Loving all our gorgeous little gingernuts 🤩

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 12/09/2018 19:07

Sadly kids do still bully other kids who have ginger hair.

Red hair looks ok on others but personally. I wouldn't want it on me or my DCs.

Not sure it's just kids who can be unkind about red hair.

Scuzzlebutt · 12/09/2018 19:15

Oh he's beautiful! My youngest was the same shade when she was born. At 4 she has the same colour as Loki's picture, via the route of very blonde. I too was hoping for the ginger to stay 😍 I'm secretly hoping the red will make a triumphant return 😂
