I love my little carrot top. It looks so cute, thick copper hair.

The pic where he is asleep in his car seat, with the grey cardi on, he was around 5 weeks old.

The last two were taken today at 18 weeks old. It's got very whispy at the top and sides. He has a bald patch at the back like most babies.

Has anyone had a ginger baby and they've changed colour?

Dont want the gingeness to go Sad

My first born was born ginge. I absolutely loved it.

It all fell out and he had some left at the back of his next and the fluff from his pillow (had a tiny one designed to help fix his flat head) made them into tiny dreadlocks.

I picked him up from nursery one day and they had cut them out.
The very last bits of my baby’s orange hair. I was absolutely gutted!
I know it’s just hair but it was so lovely.

He then turned white blonde and has been ever since.

My 5 year old was born with very wispy thin but very obviously ginger hair, she’s 5 now, still a beautiful ginger with the occasional natural blonde highlights thrown in :)
He’s sooooo cute! Smile

JellyBears · 24/06/2018 19:30

He’s so cute, those blue eyes. That’s quite red so I think it’ll stay. It’s lovely.

MrsElijahMikaelson · 24/06/2018 19:37

So many mixed experiences! It was a strong ginger but now the whisky bits are a lot lighter.

He said thanks ladies...we'll see Wink

DS2 was that colour at that age.
He is 18 now and is a dark blond that goes lighter in summer.

His hairy legs are definitely ginger though. He can't grow a beard but his whiskers come through as ginge.
We call him the two tone kid!

PurpleTigerLove · 24/06/2018 19:43

My son was red haired at birth . He’s white blond now at almost 9 . I expected it to get darker as he got older like his dad . What colour are both parents ?

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/06/2018 19:44

It doesn't matter any which way. He's an absolute sweetie and looks bound to be a charmer Smile

PurpleTigerLove · 24/06/2018 19:46

Your little boy is beautiful btw

hungryhippie · 24/06/2018 19:47

Love ginger hair. He is bloody gorgeous!
My middle kid was born with brown hair which all fell out and grew back ginger at about 1.
My youngest was born with black hair which all fell out at a few days old and then grew back blonde.

AdultHumanFemale · 24/06/2018 19:48

DD2 was born ginger but became white blonde in her first year. She always had dark eyelashes and eyebrows, so I did think it might not stay.
Your little boy is gorgeous!

BingTheButterflySlayer · 24/06/2018 19:48

DD2 had auburn curls. DD2 no longer has auburn curls. I feel diddled by this.
It's now a light browny colour that goes to a reddy shade in the summer... no lovely curly bits I could boing around my fingers at the back of her neck though.

DragonMummy1418 · 24/06/2018 19:51

Oh he's so cute, what a lovely little smile!
Do you or DH have ginger hair?

My DS had ginger hair when he was born, not as strong as your DS's though - but it's pretty much blonde now and he's 4.

Ummmmgogo · 24/06/2018 19:51

gorgeous baby op. x

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 24/06/2018 19:51

I think he looks true ginger. He's gorgeous!!! I had 3 ginger cousins . I now have 1, another deepened to coppery tinged brunette and 1 faded to gingery blonde. So it could go or could stay. I hope it stays, he's ever so bonny :)

IsadoraQuagmire · 24/06/2018 19:52

I don't think you can predict it. I was born with red hair that turned white blonde. Still white blonde until I was 13/14, now a fraction darker, but still very light blonde, now I'm in my early 20s.

OverTheHedgeHammy · 24/06/2018 19:53

Yeah, my DH. He was bright ginger as a baby. It darkened to brown in his teens, except for his beard and moustache (when he didn't shave) and his body hair which stayed ginger until it turned grey.

MrsElijahMikaelson · 24/06/2018 20:01

Neither myself or DO are ginger.

I was a copper brown til I was 3.

Its hard to tell. I just want to trim hes little mullet at the back tho Grin

DD was blonde when she was born then went ginger for her 1st year to 18 months. It's now gone a sort of dirty blonde with some ginger in the sunlight!! She's 3. Still don't know what we're going to end up with!!

Banana8080 · 24/06/2018 20:14

Ooopppfffff so adorable!!!!!

And a ginge for life :)

Butterflybelly · 24/06/2018 20:18

Wow! What a little beauty. Mine was born pure white, now red and an absolute stunner. You’ve got a gorgeous boy no matter what colour he ends up.

ToftheB · 24/06/2018 20:22

Oh god, he’s absolutely lovely!

DwangelaForever · 24/06/2018 20:25

@60sname my daughter was so dark when she was born and is bleach blond now and has been since her baby hair fell out, you wouldn't believe the difference!

Oblomov18 · 24/06/2018 20:36

Tbf that funny stage where baby hair falls out and it's all patchy, mullety, is not the most attractive! Grin
I did cut all ds's long bits off! But if OP wants to give the mullet a tiny trim, I think that would be good!

ZispinAndDisappointingTea · 24/06/2018 20:44

DH was born with a bright copper, ginger hair, but for him it seemed to turn into a dark brown before he was 2 or 3. It turned up again when he grew up - in his beard!

HildaZelda · 24/06/2018 20:57

I was a ginger baby up until about a year and then it started to darken. It's dark brown now and I have brown eyes.
Looking at your little guy though I think that colour is there to stay. He's a cutie OP Smile
