Am I the only woman who go doesn't have tons of clothes and shoes?

I'm watching Escape to the Country (don't judge me, we all have our vices) and the presenter is saying to the house hunters "there's permission to knock through and make a walk-in wardrobe"

Wife looks estactic and husband says proudly "oh that's good, there's never enough room for my wife's clothes"

This happens every time (well nearly) on ETTC and Wanted Down Under. "Ooh look, Kev, there's a walk in wardrobe, that's my clothes storage sorted"

And I the only women who only needs a small wardrobe and chest of drawers? How much space do you need? I'm starting to feel inadequate!

well obviously not. ive got no money so cant afford loads. i wear about 4 different outfits and only have 2 pairs of shoes

Lol, don’t worry, I think a lot of us are like you! I could be wrong though. I’ve never been a shoe person, handbags though....
I have trimmed down a lot on clothing, realising I didn’t wear most of it. Am trying to build a nice quality capsule wardrobe rather than having tons of stuff.

I've got four pairs of shoes and one chest of clothes.

I don't have many clothes. A small wardrobe and two drawers in a four drawer chest. DH has the other two.
I'm not into clothes. I have a few items I mix up for work, and a few others I mix up for out of work. I never really go anywhere fancy, from choice. I hate "dressing up"

Obviously not. As you know some women have too many clothes etc, it stands to reason that some don't have enough. Most women fall somewhere in the middle.

Not just you. I’ve got a wardrobe of clothes and a couple of drawers for underwear and T-shirts, 4 pairs of shoes. OH has 2 full wardrobes, a separate chest and literally 20 pairs of trainers. Drives me bananas I really don’t know why he needs so much stuff!

My clothes live on a shelf in the bathroom. Four pairs of trousers/ jeans, ten tops and a pair of shorts. But DH would love a walk in wardrobe.

I'm not sure those programs show a diverse range of people though....they always want a modern kitchen, space for entertaining and so on.
I don't suppose anyone wants to look odd on national TV by saying 'oooh a lovely walk-in wardrobe perfect storage for my guns and rifles'.

Don't see the point. I have one body and a washing machine.

I'm the same. Hardly any clothes. Just have what I need. My walk in wardrobe would be empty

I’ve got one small wardrobe and one large chest of drawers which has two drawers of clothes in. That’s it.

Nope - 4 bottoms, 4 tops, 2 cardigans, 2 thin jumpers, fleece, an autumn/spring coat and winter coat, plus one workout outfit, one swimsuit, 2 sets pjs, trainers, ballet flats, flip flops and a pair of winter boots.

I HATE shopping and always do the bare minimum.

I don't throw much away, so I have clothes from 20 years ago, along with current clothes. I also have work clothes, messing g about clothes and going o u t clothes, which don't overlap.

It’s not just you. I converted our box room into a dressing room which then became the room with a small clothes rail in plus the rest of the junk from all around the house I couldn’t find a home for. I just can’t be bothered with it all. A few nice quality pieces is much easier to keep on top of.

I used to follow someone on Instagram who used to go shopping every day. A lot of the time it was charity shops or sale rails, but there is no way she could ever wear all over those clothes. And coats! How many does one need?! It looked as though she had multiple wardrobes in her son’s room as well to house the overspill from her wardrobes.

Different strokes for different folk though and all that. I’ve probably got too many decorative cushions and sofa covers...

I currently have 2 trousers & one shorts that I wear regularly. One of my trousers is developing a hole by the back pocket so I'll have to get rid of them soon - my sewing skills aren't up to fixing it. I have a total of 3 un-holey tops & a couple of old ones I wear around the house. Altogether, including things like my walking trousers that I don't wear regularly, I have 2 drawers for my clothes & a few dresses hanging up in the wardrobe. I have more PJs than anything else!

I don't understand the obsession with shoes either. Its all a bit Imelda Marcos.

Yanbu. I knowloads of people who are similar including me. My wardrobe half empty as its been over two years since had new clothes and what i have is heading to the bin now in rags. I have two pairs of jeans left now. I have four pairs of shoes and thats including walking boots, walking sandles. The other two shoes are black work shoes and a pair of trainers. Five if you include slippers. Think i might need to get another pair as wore a dress yesterday and only shoes i could wear was the walking sandles. My walk in wardrobe be empty too. Dont see the need for one.

Those who own very few clothes - did you used to have more or have you always kept it to a minimum?
Years ago a walk in wardrobe would have been a dream. Now I realise I want far fewer clothes. I am trying to cut down what I own. I've taken vast quantities to the charity shop. There is a way to go though.
I now accept that I never go out so don't need posh frocks. I am retired so don't need smart work clothes.
There are still seasonal variations though. I have summer and winter shoes, tops and coats. A few summer dresses that get worn a couple of weeks a year but are very old. I am currently wearing a cheesecloth number that I bout when pregnant in 1995. It's nice and looks as good as new.

Far from it. I share a double wardrobe and tall chest of drawers with my husband and it’s plenty. When stuff wears out I replace it, although I prefer to (and am lucky to be able to) buy decent stuff that’ll last a while rather than loads of cheap stuff that wears after a few washes.

i like minimal clothes - a wardrobe and chest of drawers for me. I don't like rummaging for something to wear. I tend to stick to five colours - black, grey, maroon, khaki and white. So they all match.

Yes you are. Of all the women in the world, you are the only one with a small collection of clothing. Congratulations.

Fed, I just have no interest in clothes and so no inclination to collect them. I have a couple of things for dressy occasions and tend to layer clothes so apart from a couple of pairs of shorts, no need for seasonal variation.
