To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

But they haven't been hot everywhere else. We don't all live in the south east.

I am loving this weather right now, but it is mid 20s here and not humid where I am (plus my car and workplace have aircon)

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2018 06:31

No, i appreciate that its location that determines how hot it gets - i'm just unlucky as its always too hot for me. I actually envy the temperatures i see on the chart for Scotland, but i can also see how fed up they are if its always cold or rainy when they just want a bit of sun.

Delatron · 27/06/2018 07:31

Last summer in the south east was rubbish from mid July. I had my heating on in August.

Mogleflop · 27/06/2018 08:12

Erghhh ... need more sleep. More sleep please. Or a new body. That. If I could wish for anything, give me that, and I can join the sun lovers. Thank you!

LeighaJ · 27/06/2018 08:14

Yeah the heat is even getting to me now and I'm from Texas.

LoniceraJaponica · 27/06/2018 08:17

It's currently 11 degrees outside and misty, going up to 23/24 degrees later.

Oliversmumsarmy · 27/06/2018 08:20

People who hate this weather please remember you have your 10 months of miserable grey skies to rejoice in.
This heat is the only time I am able to work in the year because as soon as the summer weather goes I return to a shuffling cripple.

mydogisthebest · 27/06/2018 08:22

Chickencellar, it certainly was not warm in my part of the Midlands two weeks ago. As I said, my DH, who doesn't particularly feel the cold, turned the heating on so it must have been cold.

9amTrain · 27/06/2018 08:23

Not everyone has the same tolerance to heat. It makes me feel really weak, sick and ill, at lower temperatures than when your average person seems to complain too. I like it in tiny amounts, sometimes, but apart from that I'd rather it was cold.

9amTrain · 27/06/2018 08:24

@Oliversmumsarmy nobody is saying YOU can't enjoy it! We are saying WE don't!

9amTrain · 27/06/2018 08:24

And it's not just a matter of preferring cooler weather, it's actually really uncomfortable and can be sickening for a lot of us!

Who is saying you can’t enjoy it?

Whirlytastic · 27/06/2018 08:30

What? There have been some hot days, but plenty of cooler ones too. The variability drives me mad - I never know what to wear for the day. This morning in London I'm wearing a jumper (a lightweight one, but still a jumper) - the 'heatwave' is certainly not a constant thing, and it's not especially warm yet here.

KittyVonCatsworth · 27/06/2018 08:38

27C yesterday in SWales and I loved it! My poor DSD though was melting in the heat and my poor DN just didn’t know what to do with herself. It gave us a good excuse to make ice cream milkshakes and stay inside to watch the Lion King though 😂 I must say though, picking up my DN day before yesterday was tough; it’s only 1.5 miles to her nursery and jogging back to the house before she pinked up was a chore!

No DSD or DN today so I shall be baking myself by taking a lovely long walk today. Long may it last!

LoniceraJaponica · 27/06/2018 08:43

Whirlytastic I think we have enjoyed nicer weather in the North and the North West, hence that awful fire on Saddleworth Moor. Scotland has been enjoying nice summer weather as well.

I have just been checking the weather forecast and daily high temperatures in my part of South Yorkshire aren't going to dip below 20 degrees until 6th July, which is very unusual for round here. The temperatures will be low 20s which is comfortable enough to go about the day (and in my case get plenty of bike rides in).

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2018 09:01

it wasnt too bad this morning when i went out - cloudy, cool breeze.
my kind of weather and i already feel better for it. no sign of rain till the weekend.

HateSummer · 27/06/2018 09:10

What the hell is happening? This morning it’s cloudy and 13°C right now. Yet the forecast says it’ll be 28°C again later. I doubt it will be. I’ve worn my thin cotton dress and am freezing. This is how i keep getting ill. I hate weather.

Oysterbabe · 27/06/2018 09:16

It's already fucking boiling in Bristol.
I don't mind that much today though. Toddler is at nursery, too hot to take the baby out so I can legitimately stay in the lounge, which is quite cool, and watch Netflix. Yesterday we ventured to the park at about 4:30pm and the slide was still too hot to use. Hot weather is rubbish for small children, especially pasty blonde children like mine.

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2018 09:20

I think its going to be another hot one but take a while to get going!
they are talking about rain at the weekend - i must admit, i do feel sorry for people that are at work full time all week and love it warm/ hot, then the weekend comes and it all changes again and i say that as someone who prefers it colder/ breezy. I am very fair skinned, maybe this is why i have struggled so much with the heat - some people are like lizards and seem to just soak it up and go brown as berry!

Oliversmumsarmy · 27/06/2018 09:22

9amTrain. Whilst some are uncomfortable and sick for 8weeks of the year some of us are sick and uncomfortable for the other 44 weeks.

Delatron · 27/06/2018 09:26

Exactly Oliversmumsarmy.

Not sure why that point is ignored continually. It's quite a big one. Hot weather (heatwave levels) lasts a few weeks at most in this country.

Therefore, yes it's miserable for some but generally doesn't last. Cold, dreary weather goes on for months and months. It snowed in March!

Imagine if it was cold for just a few weeks!! I would actually welcome that. Not moan.

Whirlytastic · 27/06/2018 09:36

Whoever said 20 degrees, low 20s - that's just nice summer weather (and sadly not guaranteed), not a heatwave!

JacquesHammer · 27/06/2018 09:38

See if I didn’t want to see people moaning about cold weather, I wouldn’t open a thread entitled “To hate this English Winter and the freezing cold weather we’re having?” Grin

"Not sure why that point is ignored continually. It's quite a big one. Hot weather (heatwave levels) lasts a few weeks at most in this country."

I agree.

They could certainly do with some rain on Saddleworth Moor The80sweregreat

Mogleflop · 27/06/2018 09:48

If you love this weather GO OUTSIDE AND ENJOY IT! Grin

Why are you on this thread telling others off? It's bonkers! You must be making yourself feel so cross for no reason, why do it to yourself? None of us are going to magically fix our body problems because you've told us off.

The thing that's actually ignored is that you don't have to read this threads, just ignore them. Also from reading other people's stories, it's not just 2 weeks or random heatwaves, it's warmer weather and months on end. ("Then there's something wrong with you", you'll say. Yes - and your point is what exactly?)

Go enjoy the warmth while it lasts for you, we all wish we could too Smile
