To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

I like hot weather if I'm by a pool with a nice cool drink and not a care in the world

What I don't like is being stuck in an office with no air conditioning that feels like a sauna. Where I'm uncomfortable and lethargic and we're all finding it hard to cope and be productive.

Hot weather is nice if you can enjoy it. If you can't it's just a massive arse ache

manicmij · 25/06/2018 23:42

I do agree with you. I have very fair skin and suffer from hayfever. Even with lashings of factor 50 which is horrible having to apply often I get burned and the hayfever just makes me miserable even with tablets, nasal spray and eye drops. No, hot weather is horrible, go abroad on holiday if you want your sun to turn Brown.

DoubleNegativePanda · 25/06/2018 23:49

You're not unreasonable to be uncomfortable if that's what you are. I live in the Deep South of the US and it's fecking miserable and yet there are loads of people banging on about the lovely summer.

Right now it's only 34 as a "cold front" is coming through!

squeekums · 26/06/2018 01:00

Send that heat down under please lol even if only around 30, i will take it
Its been a horrid 3 degrees in the mornings here, ice on the car. I despise winter
I dream of 35 or even 40

Dobbythesockelf · 26/06/2018 02:56

Right cause it's obviously my fault that being pregnant in this heat is horrible. Nothing to do with the fact that pregnant actually raises your body temperature or the extra weight makes you hotter. I just should not have got up the duff on the of chance that we had a heatwave. What a horrible thing to say.

GlitterCity · 26/06/2018 04:52

I think the problem is that in the uk we’re not prepared for the heat, most houses have carpet, no air con or ceiling fans etc. On holiday it’s a completely different ballgame.

GlitterCity · 26/06/2018 04:54

Oh and most also do not have outdoor pools either.

Only a joke if all parties find it funny though isn’t it?

HolyMountain · 26/06/2018 06:17

I love it, preferable to a rainy damp summer despite the intense heat.

Our houses aren’t built for the heat; carpets, loft and wall insulation don’t help but I don’t care when it’s this glorious.

Barbaro · 26/06/2018 06:20

It's horrible when I have to muck out my horses stables. Even inside an old barn it's still too hot and you're sweating in seconds. I actually put my arms under the cold water to try and cool down, didn't help.

It's alright when you're sat still and sunbathing, not so much once you start moving.

tomhazard · 26/06/2018 06:26

I adore summer. I love the opportunity to be outside, everybody seems happier, I find it easier to entertain my DC.
But, I completely despise the dead of winter so I can empathise with people that hate the extremities that summer can bring.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 26/06/2018 07:26

I hate it too. It's unbearable. I like mild weather, not extreme hot or cold, but I would prefer cold over this.

The80sweregreat · 26/06/2018 07:38

I’m depressed that this weather is lasting all week!

LoniceraJaponica · 26/06/2018 07:49

I was depressed that the last winter lasted 7 whole months

LuckyAmy1986 · 26/06/2018 07:53

The “joke” was shit, quite obviously

IIIustriousIyIIlogical · 26/06/2018 08:11

No, jokes don't have to be found funny by all.

(Just those with a sense of humour).... Wink

The80sweregreat · 26/06/2018 08:22

In the UK winter isn’t that bad - not where I live anyway. I appreciate that snow and ice cause problems and isn’t good , but the rest of it was just cold this year and only for a short time. Extreme heat like this isn’t good - I prefer a lot less sun! We’re all different.

Mogleflop · 26/06/2018 08:22

Day 2 folks - we can push through this Smile

The80sweregreat · 26/06/2018 08:23

Might rain on Sunday I hear! Roll on Sunday

SoupDragon · 26/06/2018 08:24

the rest of it was just cold this year and only for a short time.

Rather like summer and the heat then.

dorisdog · 26/06/2018 08:58

Agree! I want to wear jeans and jumpers. I want it to stay like March/October. I also want the long, light evenings though so I guess I'll have to suck it up :-)

RidingMyBike · 26/06/2018 09:01

Thing is - in cold weather you can put on extra layers etc. It's easy to do something about it. In hot weather it's very difficult to do anything about it once temps are over about 25 degrees.

It's severely limiting what we can do as a family - my DH gets severe heatstroke very easily. He can't really cope with temps much last 23, and heat stroke is frightening and a huge health risk. To a certain extent we can mitigate this by him only going out very early, staying in the shade etc but it makes doing anything as a family during the summer months very difficult. Ideally we'd move out of the SE to escape the weather but that will have to wait until we can both find jobs somewhere cooler.

Bit mystified by the person who likes this weather as they don't have to have the heating on. We don't have our meeting on between about April and October...
