I'm sure I'm too young to have so many aches and pains when I first get up in the morning! I'm 28 years old and always wake up with terrible lower back pains, achey ankles and really sore joints in my fingers from where (I think) I lay on my hands in the night. It all wears off after a while, but am I slowly falling apart or is this normal?!

Do you need a new mattress? I know I need a new one when I wake up with lower back ache.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 23/06/2018 13:40

I'm also 28, and have a heap of medical conditions, and I don't wake up with aches unless I've done some unusual exercise the day before.

Actually, I often wake up with a headache, but that's because I grind my teeth in my sleep.

longtompot · 23/06/2018 13:41

I'm 46 and wake up very achy every morning. I suspect this is down to my mattress which really needs replacing.

SluttyButty · 23/06/2018 14:00

Very, very stiff and achey but I have two types of arthritis that cause it. That said a new mattress a few years ago did help.

freckleface12 · 23/06/2018 14:00

I'm 25 and this happened to me a couple of years ago. I couldn't afford a new mattress but I bought a mattress topper for about £40 and it's solved the problem!

OrcinusOrca · 23/06/2018 14:00

I'm 26 and I am achey every morning! Back and knees in particular. Apparently it's normal to be a bit stiff in the mornings I did some googling a while ago and your body gets itself going and loosens you up. I often wake up with a sore back if I've been lying flat on it, I try to always sleep on my side.

ZenNudist · 23/06/2018 14:02

Im 39 and bit stiff in the morning depending on how much activity i did the day before.

I have problem neck and back so unsurprising really.

In my 20s i routinely ached from exercise. Are you working out?

BlueThesaurusRex · 23/06/2018 14:02

Hmmm... go get a blood test! I am very similar but I have rheumatoid arthritis (36 so a bit older than you but still not very old!)

BarbedBloom · 23/06/2018 14:19

I am 36, have this and have psoriasic arthritis. I would try maybe changing the mattress or getting a topper first, but may be worthy of investigation if it persists

fantasmasgoria1 · 23/06/2018 14:37

I have a spine problem and had an op a few years ago. I have my fiancé help me out of bed on the odd occasion! My pain is around 6/10 and it takes my pain medication and loosening up for a while then after I have been up an hour I’m ok! I always have pain throughout the day but I’m used to it now !

SimonBridges · 23/06/2018 14:39

43 and not a single ache when I get up.

Ohyesiam · 23/06/2018 14:41

You should get yourself checked out op x

BananaHarvest · 23/06/2018 14:41

I’m oldest so far and my joints need waking up in a hot tub. They are hard to get going without 15 minutes warm soaking.

blueshoes · 23/06/2018 14:43

Almost 50. No aches here.

tinydancer88 · 23/06/2018 14:43

I'm the same age as you and normally only achey if I've slept funny or exercised a lot the day before. The exception is when my iron is low, but that's more muscular aches than joints...

Ronnyhotdog · 23/06/2018 14:45

I 2nd going to get your bloods done, I was similar, diagnosed with rheumatoid at 18. Better to rule it out.

excitedforbaby2 · 23/06/2018 14:46

I'm 35, but from the age of 20 I used to wake up with awful aches and pain every morning. It would always take a while for me to warm up and get moving properly. Memory foam mattress helped (or a memory foam topper). I knew something wasn't right though and had to keep going back to docs. It took them 10 years to finally diagnose me with an arthritic condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis. I'm on a weekly auto-immune injection now which has changed my life, and although I still wake up a bit achey, I'm much better than I used to be. It might be worth reading up a bit about the different forms of arthritis, and possibly trying s mattress topper too? Good luck op! xx

Okokiknow · 23/06/2018 14:46

Im 26 and wake up the same. Legs lower back and joints and pelvis stiff. We have a new mattress. Made no difference. Im putting it down to having 3 kids in 5 years! That'll do it.

haverhill · 23/06/2018 14:47

48 nearly, and very achey. I definitely need a new mattress.

UpstartCrow · 23/06/2018 14:48

I wake up aching but have osteoarthritis, so maybe see your GP.

daisiesinherfootsteps · 23/06/2018 14:50

I was like this for a few years until last autumn. For a while I thought it was just age/small DC related fatigue but even once they started sleeping it didn't improve. I would wake up every day and want to take painkillers as my whole body just ached. A routine medical flagged up a major Vitamin D deficiency. Started taking a big supplement and felt better within a couple of weeks. Worth a try as most people in UK are at least a bit deficient.

SagelyNodding · 23/06/2018 14:54

I'm 35 and not at all achy-if you are constantly aching at 28 I'd get it checked out to be sure nothing is wrong.
Mattress topper sounds like a good start

Isabella1978 · 23/06/2018 14:54

Go and have your vitamin D and vitamin B levels checked as deficiencies in these can cause aching joints and bones. Low levels make you feel utterly horrendous and best to be checked in case you need mega high doses.

Ollivander84 · 23/06/2018 15:01

34 and wake up stiff and sore but I had spinal surgery so it's from that really

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 23/06/2018 15:02

I used to be terribly achey but much better as I've lost quite a lot of weight recently. If that isn't a factor for you maybe you need a new mattress?
