Mini and reduced size flurries start next week. And no more sundaes after September.

Get your fill now while you can 😂😂😂

I want a toffee sundae now

puguin86 · 22/06/2018 20:19

Noooooooooooooooooo

Gizmo79 · 22/06/2018 20:20

Everyone knows that if you go to McDonald’s then you aren’t eating healthily- this is just going to annoy the people who go occasionally as a treat.making things smaller isn’t going to change anything-look at chocolates, people just eat more as they are smaller.
Same with crisps etc
It’s time that people were made to use their common sense, you eat too much, you get fat, you then have associated health issues. I do not agree with penalising the majority just due to some who are unable or unwilling to moderate their diet.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/06/2018 20:21

I might buy a smaller mcflurry where I haven't bought a full sized one for ages. I always find the toppings haven't mixed in properly, or there isn't enough of it, and yo just end up eating plain not that nice ice cream

newroundhere · 22/06/2018 20:41

I'm with you @Allegorical - hot fudge sundaes were THE BEST. I went to New York a couple of years ago and was so excited that they still had them in the McD's there.

Sigh. Good times.

Ariela · 22/06/2018 20:46

It may also be to do with the vanilla shortage (although suspect they use a synthetic),don't shop there/buy them anyway

kateandme · 22/06/2018 21:14

excellent marketing.people will buy a small where they wouldn't a whole

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 22/06/2018 21:20

I work there and can confirm the OP. It is to do with trying to reduce the amount of sugar people are consuming.

as if they even filled the regular mcflurries anyway

McFlurries were only ever meant to have 170g (that has now been changed to 150g, and mini Flurries will be 75g. Sundaes are only meant to be 140g.)

Most of the time you get (a lot) more than that because crew overfill them, leading to problems and complaints from customers when they are actually given the correct amount.

Many a time I have had to pull the scales out to prove to a customer their Flurry is correct, and more often than not, they are getting more than they should anyway.

shelentei · 22/06/2018 21:21

My partner works for McDonald's. They're doing the mini flurries for a month and then they'll be back to normal. Unfortunately they are getting rid of sundaes xxx

ForalltheSaints · 22/06/2018 21:22

Thank you for providing me with another reason not to go.

BeijingBarbie · 22/06/2018 21:23

Oh no I love a sundae- they always feel a bit like a secret thing as I swear people don’t know they exist... and they are so much better than McFlurrys Angry

missbehaving1000 · 22/06/2018 21:26

OK so I admit to not reading the whole thread so apologies if this has been said already BUT...... I went to maccy Ds the other weekend with a hangover... doesn't happen often haha but I was craving a mc flurry and just KNEW that is what it'd take to make me feel half human again.

Well.... WTF?!?!? I literally got a mouthful of ice cream... and a few crumbs of a galaxy biscuit!

Lesson learnt: stock up on Ben and Jerrys when it's on offer in the supermarket! Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 22/06/2018 21:29

Well.... WTF?!?!? I literally got a mouthful of ice cream... and a few crumbs of a galaxy biscuit!

Literally? Hmm Because we don’t have a problem with crew underfilling Flurries, we have a problem with them overfilling them, leading to complaints when customers do get the correct amount.

GabsAlot · 22/06/2018 21:33

why not just charge more?

no rason to take things off the menu ffs

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 22/06/2018 21:38

GabsAlot The only item coming off the dessert menu is sundaes, and that’s because they’re not that popular.

Toffee is more popular than strawberry, but even then, we sell a minuscule amount compared to McFlurries, so it isn’t really worth having to buy all the extras for it.

missbehaving1000 · 22/06/2018 21:41

Well I'd love to know what branch you work at Wailmer because the serving I got was absolutely shocking.

Maybe if I wasn't so hungover I would've been in a better mindset to actually check what I got served - rather than wait til I got home after the drive thru.

Lesson still learnt though - Ben & Jerrys in the freezer any day over a mc flurry! Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 22/06/2018 21:45

missbehaving1000 I’ve worked in several. Never had a problem with underfilling, only overfilling, hence customers then complaining when they actually do get the correct amount.

Crew would not make nor give out a McFlurry that had “literally a mouthful”. You’d be able to feel a weight difference without even looking at it if that were the case.

McFlurries were only ever 170g. They are now 150g (mini Flurries will be 75g).

BrendasUmbrella · 22/06/2018 21:50

I would have bought a toffee sundae, and definitely over a McFlurry, I just didn't know McDs sold them! I might try one this weekend.

RadicalFern · 22/06/2018 21:51

No more sundaes?! This is an outrage!

QuestionableMouse · 22/06/2018 21:56

Yep, flurries are typically over filled. I've never ever seen one served with 'only a mouthful'. There's no way it would get handed out.

RedDwarves · 22/06/2018 21:57

They got rid of the Sunday’s once before. I used to love the hot fudge Sunday which never made a return. Mcflurries don’t taste of anything

You can still get hot fudge here in Australia.

No toffee here though (but toffee isn't popular in this neck of the woods).

Hoping they don't get rid of sundaes here.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/06/2018 22:47

Maybe the problem is all mners who only occasionally buy the Sundaes or only go to McDonald's twice a year- you should have gone more often, then they wouldn't be being discontinued Grin

MuddyForestWalks · 22/06/2018 22:54

I am in favour of the mini McFlurry. I bloody love them but my mouth and nose hurt with cold by the end. With all food stuffs the first and last mouthfuls are the best anyway. Also I would be reasonably happy to let my child have a MMcF, rather than a big one. Bring it on.

hellokittymania · 22/06/2018 22:58

I haven't had one of these in years, but I might have to get one now.

Unsureneighbour · 22/06/2018 23:02

Getting rid of sundaes actually makes me really sad. It's a 'thing' of mine and DH, has been since we got together as youngsters. We will go to McDonald's wherever we are on holiday and try the sundae (in some European countries you get chopped nuts on it!), or if one of us is feeling a bit shitty for whatever reason the other will go get them a sundae. Or sometimes just because we're passing a McDonald's and thought the other might like one. We probably have about five or six a year and they are always bloody amazing. Aww I'm sad now. Sad
