AIBU to open the red and sit in the sun?

I've got a day off. DS is at childminder, DH is at work and I've already smashed out all my jobs for the day. Noone will be back until 6 so I'm sat in the garden reading a book and listening to the birds. There's a bottle of merlot on the side and it's giving me the eye. AIBU to succumb to temptation and crack it open?

Won't you be asleep by 2pm? Red wine would knock me out in the sunshine.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 22/06/2018 11:17

You do you hun Wink

Sounds lush. I’m in work. Wah woe is me!

PhaedrasChocolate · 22/06/2018 11:19

I totally would. But then I would be asleep in an hour and wake up feeling like shit, so that would put me off!

YANBU! Go for it!

I’d stick to just one glass though so you’ll be sober by later on when everyone gets back, if you have stuff to do/kids to care for.

hidinginthenightgarden · 22/06/2018 11:21

Id have a glass with lunch.

SaucyJack · 22/06/2018 11:24

I would, but I'd be sorry afterwards.

I'm the same as PPs; red wine, sunshine, and day time are not a winning combo.

But if you've got the head for it, go for it.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 22/06/2018 11:29

Go for it as long as you're sober for when DS gets home.

SluttyButty · 22/06/2018 11:30

Wine and sunshine is a no no for me. I'd be asleep on the chair and wake up at about 6pm 😂

SandysMam · 22/06/2018 11:33

This is probably lightheaded but if not, YABU. It’s 11.30am, if you are seriously craving wine you have a problem.

PhaedrasChocolate · 22/06/2018 11:42

Lightheaded Grin Well, she might be by now Grin

Isleepinahedgefund · 22/06/2018 11:44

Yes, YABU. This is much more a day for a rosé or a nice crisp chilled white. Enjoy 🤩

Hoopaloop · 22/06/2018 12:00

Popped. Bottoms up on midday chimes. Wine

YABU. Why not something cold over ice or a nice coffee? It's way too early for booze, you'll be hungover in the afternoon.

ElderflowerSorbet · 22/06/2018 12:21

Why not! Enjoy sounds lovely.

BitchQueen90 · 22/06/2018 12:27

YANBU I also have a day off. DS is at school and I've just bought a nice bottle of white. Am going to have one glass with lunch before I pick him up from school then another later after he has gone to bed. Chin Chin! Wine

BitchQueen90 · 22/06/2018 12:28

(School is walking distance by the way before anyone thinks I'll be drinking and driving Grin)

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 12:32

Am I the only one who wouldn't have my child at the childminder's if I had a day off?

imsconequeen · 22/06/2018 12:36

Hollowtalk yes probably!

BitchQueen90 · 22/06/2018 12:38

@HollowTalk yes. Grin

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 12:39

Just wondering!

ilovesooty · 22/06/2018 12:39

Please yourself. Why ask a load of random people to opine on your activities on your day off?

flamingofridays · 22/06/2018 12:40

hollow yep.

if I don't send ds to nursery I still have to pay so unless i'm off because we're doing something as a family - he goes!

chipsandgin · 22/06/2018 12:40

So jealous! Cheers anyway..

Cornettoninja · 22/06/2018 12:43

hollowtalk unlikely that you are but shock horror other people would. I certainly would and have done. Not that I need to justify it but I have zero support, limpet child who is a terrible sleeper so baby sitters and evening time are out of the question for the for the forseable. In two and a half years I’ve had a handful of days like this and feel no shame.

Enjoy your wine op - it’s great to find the time to just feel like an adult! (Hangover be damned!) Grin
