I've got a day off. DS is at childminder, DH is at work and I've already smashed out all my jobs for the day. Noone will be back until 6 so I'm sat in the garden reading a book and listening to the birds. There's a bottle of merlot on the side and it's giving me the eye. AIBU to succumb to temptation and crack it open?

Enjoy OP! I'm in the same position right now except I will have to drive later to pick DC up from nursery. And it's a little too breezy where I am to sit outside. So conservatory and coffee for me.

I am astounded by how much house admin I have managed to get done today. Hopefully after a coffee I will tackle gutting out the pantry too.

You've got to pay for childcare regardless, so yes, parents deserve some peace, quiet and time to themselves.

I often also have the dog walker also if I'm at home that's mainly because I'm heavily pregnant though and walking 2 beagles is no mean feat.

Would kill for a glass of red right now

I wouldn’t either hollow, you have to pay anyway but my child would much rather be with me than nursery so if I was off with no plans, I would be keeping him off too.

Nice lighthearted thread, nothing I like better than drinking wine with lunch in the sun. Except now OP its implied you are an alcoholic and also that you shouldn't put your child into childcare if youre not at work, dear god!

I personally love day drinking. Kick back, stay reasonable, then sleep well at night with no hangover the next day. Keep hydrated with water. Also a mid afternoon dance sesh followed by plenty water will keep the red wine fug away (experience talking)

I'm not in the least bit miserable. It's just not something I would choose to do. The OP can do what she wants.
