Krispy kreme bites and original glazed are the most amazing doughnuts in the world!

Aibu? Or am I missing out on doughnuts elsewhere?

No the blackpool ones are not greasy, they are warm, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. Best smell ever. Covered in sugar which is crunchy and then you also get warm slightly melted sugar in the bottom of the bad.

I think they do similar ones at other seaside places too though!!

Ooooo @beijingbarbie I couldn't do a doughnut class, that would be dangerous hahaha.

I'm actually on a very strict low calorie diet, this thread is all the doughnut I can have right now lol.

Bottom of the bag

ScrambledSmegs · 21/06/2018 20:50

I prefer traditional doughnuts, very fresh and crunchy with sugar. Sometimes with jam in.

KKs just taste like fatty, sugary air to me. You don’t even feel like you’ve eaten anything when you’ve had one. Such a disappointment!

lynmilne65 · 21/06/2018 20:57

Heateall yesssss!!!!!

lynmilne65 · 21/06/2018 20:58

Bacon?????? AngryConfusedShock

hagsrus0 · 21/06/2018 20:58

Fond memories of Dunkies that Lyons used to make decades ago. Don't know if I'd like them now. Did try KK once but found them cloyingly sweet.

lynmilne65 · 21/06/2018 21:00

Hello flamingo not in Scotland 😖

AgentCooper · 21/06/2018 21:01

Any other Glaswegian MNers might remember Dino's on Sauchiehall St - their donuts were just the plain ones with the holes but HUGE, slightly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, covered in sugar. Best donuts in history, IMO, though Eusebi's on Park Rd comes a close second.

AlfredDaButtler · 21/06/2018 21:03

I love that Fisher and Donaldson have had 3 mentions. And I'll 4th them. Their fudge doughnuts are nothing short of a religious experience.

I don't like doughnuts but...

I once started a begging thread asking if a kind MNer would send me a Birds gingerbread man. My grandma who was S Derbys born and bred used to buy them for me and they are the taste of my childhood. The loveliest woman kindly sent 4 to me. Made me so SO happy.

WhoWants2Know · 21/06/2018 21:35

Marks & Spencer's Yum Yums, though...

Actually, I'm going to have to do some proper research on this topic and report back with my findings.

greendale17 · 21/06/2018 21:39

Worst ones are Greggs and Morrisons

hmmwhatatodo · 21/06/2018 21:40

Homemade doughnuts are actually the best.

Yogagirl123 · 21/06/2018 21:44

Try the do-nuts from Dum Dums, huge and amazing, the galaxy one is my fav, the zebra ones are lovely too.

Butterflykissess · 21/06/2018 21:45

i stay away from lidls bakery aisle after i saw a huge black fly on top of one of the doughnuts. why cant they store them the same way as krispy kremes? wouldnt touch them again after that. krispy kremes are much better anyway just not the price tag!

Dickybow321 · 21/06/2018 21:49

I'm addicted to Tescos ring doughnuts. OMG, I could live off them

MaryShelley1818 · 21/06/2018 21:54

Mmmm I love doughnuts!!! All doughnuts 🍩
The Caramel Custard one from Greggs, finger ones filled with fresh cream and jam, hot crispy ones from vans, custard Morrisons, lemon meringue KK, Boston Creme Dunkin Donuts, Lidl toffee YumYums 😋

HateSummer · 21/06/2018 22:01

We don’t like all shop made doughnuts since I started making my own years ago. Eating them fresh is amazing. You can also eat the holes which are like little light fluffy balls of heaven.

ItsBritneyBeach I'm in the Midlands and have never heard of Birds, I Googled it though and it looks like they're in the Derbyshire/Nottingham region.

We used to have a wonderful local bakery which sold amazing doughnuts but it closed a year or so back. Now, locally, we just have the supermarkets and Greggs.

bakingdemon · 21/06/2018 22:10

Dribbling all over my sofa here. Another vote for St John's custard ones if I was forced to make a choice. There's a sandwich shop really near my office that does those really cheap ring ones with white icing on - I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have totally lost my usual appetite for chocolate but I could eat those doughnuts all day.

Whitney168 · 21/06/2018 22:14

Another vote for Bread Ahead at Borough Market, particularly the salted caramel. Ridiculous price, but once you’ve tasted them, you won’t care.

CanIhavedessertfirst · 21/06/2018 22:22

Another vote for Morrisons! I love their jam doughnuts and custard doughnuts.

WinkysTeatowel · 22/06/2018 15:42

OMG @HateSummer you made those? I both want and daren't ask for the recipe all at the same time!

Second thoughts, recipe please...
