Krispy kreme bites and original glazed are the most amazing doughnuts in the world!

Aibu? Or am I missing out on doughnuts elsewhere?

My boss bought some doughnuts from St John bakery in London. One had a caramel filling, but not overly sweet, it was creamy with an amazing tang of burnt sugar - my god, it was possibly the most delicious thing I'd ever put in my mouth. It was enormous so I cut it into pieces so we could all have a bit, then I sat there slavering like a Labrador wanting to sneak extra pieces while nobody was looking.

Thanks for reminding me OP, I must go and get another one (and I won't be sharing it)!

I miss Birds cakes having moved from Derby to Scotland Sad

JaniceBattersby · 21/06/2018 20:29

Another vote for Greggs caramel custards. They’ve also started doing another similar one but with cinnamon in which is almost as good.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/06/2018 20:29

DP came home from work the other week with a dozen KK donuts that the KK stall near his work gave him for free as they throw them out if they aren’t sold the same day. I have never seen a happier child than DS that day Grin While I do love a KK my personal favourites are red hot, greasy, sugary fairground ones Smile

itsBritneyBeach · 21/06/2018 20:29

@PiggyPlumPie I live in Derby! If you ever need your Birds fix, I'm happy to send in the post Grin

blackteasplease · 21/06/2018 20:30

Doughnuts should really be the traditional more ones with jam in the middle and no hole.

EssentialHummus · 21/06/2018 20:31

Cronuts for me. Ideally with cinnamon sugar. Noms.

tillytoodles1 · 21/06/2018 20:32

Am I alone in not liking the KK ones? I find them too sweet and sickly The ring doughnuts from the vans, coated in sugar and still warm are delicious.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 21/06/2018 20:32

No, I think they're horrible. Freshly made ones, hot and dusted with sugar from a fair/food fair/whatever beat anything like that hands down.

bimbobaggins · 21/06/2018 20:32

I’m not really a big fan of Krispy creme. Give me a Greg’s pink jammie any day

Mominatrix · 21/06/2018 20:34

Bread Ahead donuts, hands down are the best. Pillow light, not greasy or overly sweet, with a lovely light custard filling. Can't decide if I prefer the salted caramel or vanilla better.

Doughnut Time in London 😍

CatherineUC · 21/06/2018 20:34

The only doughnuts I've ever liked were from Sidecar Doughnuts in California. I don't like doughnuts in general but these were delicious!!

KinkyAfro · 21/06/2018 20:36

Crispy cream doughnuts are disgusting, they just taste of nasty artificial shite.

To the poster who said hot sugared ones on Blackpool pleasure beach....i totally agree. As a kid i looked forward to those doughnuts more than the rides

WhiteVixen · 21/06/2018 20:36

I really don't make the most of living in a town with a Birds bakery... I do however live near Nottingham so am a regular Doughnotts consumer. Especially as they often come to my work when we have market days. They're opening a Derby shop too soon, if they haven't already.

BeijingBarbie · 21/06/2018 20:39

Breadahead doughnuts are amazing. I did their doughnut making course and we ate one straight from the fryer, with just sugar on and it was absolutely fantastic

EstuaryBird · 21/06/2018 20:40

Morley's Bakery in Rochester do a remarkably good doughnut but they're often sold out if you don't get there early enough.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 21/06/2018 20:40

The best donuts are them little warm ones you normally get walking by the beach, especially with warm melted chocolate poured all over. 😍😋

Stopyourhavering64 · 21/06/2018 20:41

Fisher and Donaldson fudge doughnuts are THE best....available in Cupar, St Andrews and Dundee , none other come close

I can't stand jam ones or custard - unless it is a flavoured type custard.

We don't ever go to Blackpool so I can't see what theirs are like, are they greasy?

I personally find glazed (thin runny water icing) doughnuts to be wet, slimy to chew, watery tasting and frankly disgusting. Fairground/seaside ones, warm freshly fried and dipped in vanilla/cinnamon infused granulated sugar are the only ring doughnuts for me.

Namechangedforthispost18 · 21/06/2018 20:42

Ooooo Stopyour they look amazing!!!

They are heaven.

Loonoon · 21/06/2018 20:43

KKs are the best. Especially the chocolate sprinkle ring ones. The filled ones aren’t as good. They have ruined all other doughnuts for me although I fondly remember the Bears Claw ones Burger King used to sell. Solid dough stuffed with fresh cream - gorgeous.
