So good to see the marches and anger at these policies across the US.
I feel (despite having had an encouraging letter from my MP about opposing the Trump visit) that neither of the main political parties here have responded adequately tbh. Based on my googling skills, delighted to be corrected if I have this wrong.
Like our politicians are all a bit too frightened of what’s going to happen after Brexit or they broadly agree with him in principle.
Our PM May was very slow to condemn this- and she was objecting to the cages, but not very clearly apparently to the principle behind it. You have the foreign secretary Boris Johnson appearing to tacitly support by not really condemning.
You have Corbyn focusing only on the domestic and not condemning this at all PMQs and it being left to Thornberry to say the right thing and condemn it.
It’s a mess. Trump’s a child (and adult) torturer, racist, sexist. His policies should be opposed in the strongest possible terms and he should not get to enter this country. End of.
Why is having all the honours of a state visit suddenly being presented as the only way to get to talk to Trump about his abysmal policies? Has he really got us over a barrel that much, FFS?

Honourable mention to Vince Cable of Lib Dems:

Condemns Trump’s ‘concentration camps’ and also notes UK have separated families. This doesn’t appear to have gotten media coverage though.
