To be annoyed that shampoos for greasy hair don't seem to exist anymore?

It's just so frustrating!

I was using the head and shoulders one for greasy hair (citrus I think?) but ran out and was trying to find a replacement that was not a dandruff shampoo as It wasn't really working for me anymore.

But can I find a decent shampoo for greasy hair anywhere?! Nooo!!

These seem to be the options:
Moisture
Shine
Volume
Ones for coloured hair
Sleek/straight
Fine/limp hair

But seemingly nothing to deal with greasy hair. Mine is really dry and damaged on the ends so I have to use quite an intensive conditioner but so far everything I've tried has made my hair greasy again as soon as I've washed it or has dried it out and made it feel weird.

I can't afford anything super expensive, I just want a normal shampoo. Aibu or am I just not looking hard enough?

On a similar note I want an anti-volume shampoo! There are smoothing ones which do nothing and loads of ones to build volume. I want one to flatten this bloody mop not build it up

smilingelizabeth · 19/06/2018 17:20

You could wash with a normal one and then use dry shampoo every other day? That's what I do.

CookieDoughKid · 19/06/2018 17:22

Ginger shampoo by Bodyshop is the BEST for greasy hair, itchy or flaky scalp. I always keep a bottle in the shower!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/06/2018 17:22

I have terrible problems with greasy scalp the one I use is the L'Oréal Elvive Clay one, mint green bottle it says for greasy hair on it I think

lexi873 · 19/06/2018 17:24

There’s a L’Oréal one that says it’s for greasy roots, called Clay or something, pale green bottle. I use that and a dry shampoo round my hairline that always seems to go greasy within hours of washing!

SnuggyBuggy · 19/06/2018 17:24

I reckon the shampoo companies think we are offended by people referring to our greasy hair so keep coming up with euphemisms. I'm rubbish at figuring out which euphemism means greasy Blush

dontlikebeards · 19/06/2018 17:25

My daughter struggles with greasy hair and she uses the L'oreal elvive clay but you are right op, greasy hair shampoo seems to have disappeared.

CourtneyLovely · 19/06/2018 17:25

Alberto Balsom do one, I think it's the apple one. We also get quite a good one that is co-op own brand.

TheThirdOfHerName · 19/06/2018 17:25

My sons went through a phase of having greasy hair in puberty. We tried various shampoos. The type that worked best was an inexpensive supermarket own brand apple shampoo.

TheThirdOfHerName · 19/06/2018 17:25

Alberto Balsam apple is also good.

whywhywhywhywhyyy · 19/06/2018 17:26

Fine hair is usually a good bet. They want to take the oil off the hair to stop it being weighed down.

Knittedfairies · 19/06/2018 17:26

Shampoo for ‘normal’ hair doesn’t seem to exist any more either.

specialsubject · 19/06/2018 17:26

read the ingredients , they are almost all the same. mainly water anyway.

cant say greasy any more, I expect. people start blubbering.

nonevernotever · 19/06/2018 17:27

It's not cheap, but my hair is like yours and I'm a huge fan of Swell Volumising shampoo (and the rest of their products if I'm honest). It's £25 a bottle but seems to last for ages and it's fab on my lank greasy hair. Their instructions tell you to use just a little bit of shampoo on the end of your hair nearest the scalp and say it will clean the ends as it rinses out. Conditioner conversely you only apply to the ends not the roots.

Friendofsadgirl · 19/06/2018 17:27

L'Oreal Elvive Phytoclear Anti Dandruff Greasy Hair

halfwitpicker · 19/06/2018 17:28

Alberto Balsam Tea Tree tingle
Johnsons baby shampoo
Lush Ice blue

Melfish · 19/06/2018 17:30

I think the euphemism is fine, flyaway hair - I have lank, greasy hair and like a PP I use the apple shampoo- Alberto Balsam - it's a quid from the chemist. Usually the greasy hair shampoos are the ones with the citrus scents.

redexpat · 19/06/2018 17:31

lush do an ice blue? They nicked that from 1990s bodyshop! Was an excellent shampoo for greasy hair.

Branleuse · 19/06/2018 17:32

loreal elvive clay shampoo is really good for greasy hair. I can get an extra day or two out of my hair if i use that one, although i do find it dulls it if i use it too often

bluerunningshoes · 19/06/2018 17:35

yabu
they are all just soap and there is not much difference between them imo.

DreamADream · 19/06/2018 17:36

I was told to use one for fine hair too. There's less crap in it thwt would weigh hair down, so it's better on greasy hair. Apparently.

Olivecake · 19/06/2018 17:41

Another vote for the body shop ginger shampoo.
I always keep a bottle of it for whenever I feel a bit of product build up or particularly greasy- it’s cleansing without being too harsh and drying and then I just use a richer conditioner over my dry ends.

alltoomuchrightnow · 19/06/2018 17:43

I thought Lush stopped ice blue?\I have the horrendous greasies (but dry ends) and can only use their Big liquid shampoo..means i can wash every other day now
Body shop ginger doesn't work on my greasy hair, with that still need to wash daily

Iknowitsover · 19/06/2018 17:44

I use this for my daughters hair.
