I actually don't know what your issue is. I'm not 'poo pooing' or 'disbelieving' your interpretations of posts is bizarre. I won't respond to you again.
I personally think the majority of large influencing accounts be they charity or otherwise are monetised one way or another and if they are not the account would not be so heavily focused on 'stats' or needing to keep a social media presence on a several times a day basis. I'm aware from threads that the baiting and constant arguing over random points is just distraction and have a strong feeling that this is a purposeful misunderstanding of my posts to derail.
Discussing a need to keep posting to keep relevant and high up in being promoted clearly is more relevant to monetised accounts and the fact there are hardly any mentioned (can you actually name any) is evidence of this.

ARumDo · 13/07/2018 12:34

MoD is so formulaic she really might be a bot! As predicted yesterday she has followed up her shameless, vulgar money-grabbing post with a saintly midwife of the people story. I think I could confidently write her Insta page through the summer as we watch her bravely and selflessly struggle from one money making venture to the next!

Fluffyrainbows · 13/07/2018 12:42

I genuinely wonder how midwives who work full time as their job, view her. She's 6/7's a privileged influencer, and 1/7 a midwife. She doesn't seem to have overwhelming similar account support it's all just fangirls.

Fine, if that's what you believe but it just seems strange when people respond saying that no, it's not always the case, it's not always about the monetising and give examples, you say "you're wrong, they're monetised in one way or another.
They've literally just told you that not all are monetised, seems bizarre to stick fingers in ears kind of like la la I'm not listening and saying that you're not going to respond anymore. Confused

Fluffyrainbows · 13/07/2018 13:13

@Eeebymum easy to get distracted and sucked in, which is so pointless!

CadyHeron · 13/07/2018 13:13

As predicted yesterday she has followed up her shameless, vulgar money-grabbing post with a saintly midwife of the people story.

These threads have said a lot of times that "she needs to get back to midwife stories, that's what she started out as and should be doing!"
So she posts a midwife story what people supposedly want and it's now a saintly midwife of the people story? Hmm
I'd be like WTF do you people want, the moon on a stick?
They literally can't do right!

ARumDo · 13/07/2018 13:17

Totally agree Cady - it has been said repeatedly....... and what we see repeatedly is how she shamelessly tacks her Saint Clemmie routine on the back of her latest advertisement. It's the cynical, predictable timing of her account that really earns my contempt, not the frequency.

ARumDo · 13/07/2018 13:20

She is a fascinating study in the manipulative powers of social media - my children are exposed to similar in their age ranges and we often look at her account for a masterpiece in action so they can see how easily duped people can be.

Fluffyrainbows · 13/07/2018 13:20

@arumdo good to see someone actually talking sense on this thread.

ARumDo · 13/07/2018 13:21

Maybe, just maybe, when her children are 15 and 17 and navigating this internet world will she see just how damaging her behaviour is - though I doubt it.

CadyHeron · 13/07/2018 13:23

If you're doing a mixture of both monetised posts and midwife posts, of course there's going to be crossover so that there's a midwife post after a paid one, it stands to reason.
Maybe better to mix it up a bit more then if possible so it doesn't look to some like it's always after ads.

ARumDo · 13/07/2018 13:25

Well we know she's reading this Cady - let's she if she takes your advice. Again I doubt it. She has a very clear formula in place and I don't imagine she's going to change anything anytime soon.

Fluffyrainbows · 13/07/2018 13:46

Themodernmidwife is a good midwifery based account.

MadameGrizzly · 13/07/2018 13:47

Seriously @MNHQ why are you letting this continue?

I am all for constructive criticism of Instamums (see my previous posts 😳) but this has tipped “over into personal comments and general nastiness” that @HebeMumsnet warned several pages ago would be deleted.

kirinm · 13/07/2018 13:50

@MadameGrizzly and what the hell were your posts? Horribly vindictive.

800msprint · 13/07/2018 13:51

The thing that erks me is that she could be using her popularity to do proper midwifery-related campaigns - for example getting rid of bounty packs, support care in fourth trimester, notes on scary subjects like pre-eclampsia, how we need more midwives practicing, best way to have more natural c-sections etc etc I just don't know why she's so popular but I'm in the minority. Her couple of posts about birth stories every so often just doesn't cut it. And my opinion doesn't really cover the discussed stuff on here - ads and use of kids. All I would say is influencers it's not that bloody hard. Own the fact you are getting paid to do stuff. Influencers that have done that have earnt my respect way more but the ones that have done that we're more obvious in the first place anyway eg Erica Davies was a fashion stylist so it makes sense she would get paid to promote clothes

Furfugsache · 13/07/2018 13:55

I follow some charities on Instagram, they are there to monetise as well, it is just that the destination is worthy. They are also run by teams so holidays would be covered. I'm really wracking my brain trying to think of a large account that is just in it for the exposure and their engagement doesn't relate in any way to income. Perhaps politicians? Emmanuel Macron has nearly 1m followers.

Furfugsache · 13/07/2018 13:56

Poor old Theresa May only has 68k followers.

Fluffyrainbows · 13/07/2018 13:59

@madamegrizzly there's a thread about Theresa May's Red dress. How is that allowed? She's a prime minister not a model.

Furfugsache · 13/07/2018 14:06

I agree with MG that this thread is a lot more interesting when it's not focused on one account but on ethics on IG in general.

stilldazed · 13/07/2018 14:14

So this afternoon Mrs Meldrum is using her young non consenting little girls to flog tat (sorry beautiful bracelets). Genuine question, will she put the money they earn in an account for them for when they are older, like parents of child actors or will she spend the money of coffee and cake?

CadyHeron · 13/07/2018 14:19

Genuine question, will she put the money they earn in an account for them for when they are older, like parents of child actors or will she spend the money of coffee and cake?

Might be a genuine question, but that's seriously none of our business what she spends any money on.

CadyHeron · 13/07/2018 14:27

I mean, it's family income after all. Good for you if you squirrel away your earnings straight into an account for your kids, but not everyone can.

stilldazed · 13/07/2018 14:29

I thought we were discussing the ethics of exploitation of children by instamums....

here we are having a discussion about the morality of a relatively new phenomenon and I am posing a question.

Non of what they publish every day is anybody's business they put it out there
