To ask, do you/OH wear a wedding ring?

Just curious really.

My rings are gold which was fashionable at the time, but I don't particularly like them now as almost all the rest of my jewellery is silver. (I did look into getting them dipped, but the setting of the stones means it would be very awkward) So whether or not I wear them depends on what else I'm wearing. I do wear them sometimes but it's hit and miss. Probably 50/50 I'd say.
I don't wear them to work or the gym (safety reasons) but will almost always wear them on a night out.

MIL CONSTANTLY comments on it, so much so that I've taken to deliberately NOT wearing them around her, I know it's childish but as far as I'm concerned, it's none of her business anyway.

DH always wears his ring. He's not bothered whether I do or not and if he didn't wear one it wouldn't bother me either.

Just wondering whether people wear them always or whether, like me, they come on and off?

I do, because DH designed it with my daughters. It wasn't meant to be a wedding ring but this one is so unique and beautiful that I wouldn't demean it by wearing another.

DH always wears his.

catinasplashofsunshine · 17/06/2018 20:56

We both do. Simple wedding bands though, I don't have an engagement ring at all and can't see the point in them. I've never been a jewelry type and preferred to spend the money on a big pre wedding holiday Grin

BastardGoDarkly · 17/06/2018 20:57

I lost my wedding ring at a gig a couple of years ago. I just bought myself a new one, because I kept going to turn it, and felt sad it wasn't there.

Dh never takes his off, I don't either, but they're comfy.

ladymarian · 17/06/2018 20:58

DH and I both have platinum rings. He never takes his off. I have engagement, wedding and eternity ring. I wear them every day but take them off at night.

Echobelly · 17/06/2018 20:58

Yes, we have matching wedding rings - plain white gold matching bands. I wear mine every day, he wears his most of the time. Amazingly he's kept it for 11 years (there was a period of nearly a year we though he'd lost it but it turned out to be in the pocket of a suit he only wore occasionally). Apparently a large percentage of men lose their wedding rings within 3 months!

swampytiggaa · 17/06/2018 21:00

Never taken my wedding ring off and haven’t taken my engagement ring off since we married - 17 years now. Husband sometimes wears his 🙂

happymummy12345 · 17/06/2018 21:02

I always all 3 of my rings- wedding, eternity, engagement. And also I always wear 3 other rings on 3 other fingers, several chains, something on both wrists, and earrings in both lobe piercings and both my cartilage piercings. I'm a big jewellery person and the only things I take off are a few bits that I can't sleep in because of how they are.
I couldn't imagine not wearing my wedding rings though. I feel naked without my jewellery on.
Dh always wears jewellery as well.

DropZoneOne · 17/06/2018 21:02

Yes, and my eternity ring on my right hand because it didn't fit on my left with my engagement and wedding. All yellow gold - I have olive skin and yellow gold suits me better than white gold / platinum / silver.

I take the eternity ring off at night but leave the others on ... just habit, no rhyme or reason to it!

DragonMummy1418 · 17/06/2018 21:02

We both have ours on all the time. Just forget it's there, it's like it's part of my body now. Plan to be buried with them on when I die too. 🤷‍♀️
Each to their own.

Tryingtogetitright · 17/06/2018 21:03

I never take my wedding ring off (plain white gold band). I wear my engagement ring every day - put it on when I get dressed and take it off at bedtime. DH wears his wedding ring all day but takes it off to sleep.

EndOfEternity · 17/06/2018 21:03

Nope. Neither if us wear jewellery. We did wear them til my hands got swollen during pregnancy and I took mine off. His got taken off to and neither of us bothered putting them back on. Stored somewhere

gingerpickles · 17/06/2018 21:05

No, but neither of us really wear any jewellery.

SittHakim · 17/06/2018 21:06

Yes, we both do. They're yellow gold and it suits me better than white metal. I wear a work-related white gold ring on the other hand, and it's beautiful but doesn't suit me as well as my wedding and engagement rings. (DH also had an engagement ring, but stopped wearing it when we married as it didn't fit his other hand.)

I take them off at night, and to shower and exercise.

Parker231 · 17/06/2018 21:06

No - neither of us had wedding rings and I don’t have an engagement ring. Don’t need a symbol to show that we are married. Have many rings which I wear, depending on what I’m wearing.

MiddleagedManic · 17/06/2018 21:06

Never got one as neither of us wanted to wear one. I quite like rings, but usually more statement ones, otherwise, no, in the way when doing daily tasks and sport etc.

Still married though, as thankfully rings aren't the thing that makes it valid (as some people seem to think.. Hmm)

Wendalicious · 17/06/2018 21:07

We both do- mine are wedged on but are platinum and have an eternity one too so love them x

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 17/06/2018 21:09

I wore mine for 11 years straight but now have lost quite a lot of weight and they kept falling off (including once in a pool which was the decider to take them off!) so now they live in a drawer..

FloControl · 17/06/2018 21:11

I'm not married but if I was I wouldn't have a wedding ring. I don't care for jewellery at all (unless it's valuable and I can sell it); I don't always wear a watch.

Yogagirl123 · 17/06/2018 21:12

I wear mine I never take it off, DH has never worn his, he isn’t keen on jewellery at all, never even wears a watch, been married 24years, it’s never bothered me that he doesn’t wear it.

Tink2007 · 17/06/2018 21:13

We both do and both are white gold.

Accountant222 · 17/06/2018 21:14

All the years I've been married I have hardly ever worn mine, eczema prevents it

Growingboys · 17/06/2018 21:16

I do, he doesn't (have a ring).

Mine is gold and I've never taken it off, not even for a second.

CurlsandCurves · 17/06/2018 21:17

Yes I wear both engagement and wedding ring all the time.

DH has his original wedding ring in a box. He retrained not long after we got married to a very physical job so stopped wearing it as it would just get ruined. So for our first anniversary I bought a cheap one for him.

But his job being what it is it got totally bent out of shape. So for his 40th I got him a titanium ring which should stand the test of time.

Mycheckshirt · 17/06/2018 21:19

We had cheap ones to begin with but then had to sell them years ago when times were hard so neither of us has worn one for a long time. I would like to replace mine at some point, I still have my engagement ring but it's several sizes too small now so I'm waiting til I've lost some more weight and then I'll pick out a (much more expensive Grin) new one so I can go back to wearing both. Don't know if DH wants a new one but whatever he wants is fine by me.

thewavesofthesea · 17/06/2018 21:20

I do; mainly because I can’t easily get it off and it looks nice with my eternity and engagement ring! DH wears a ring, but not the one he got married in. He lost a load of weight so it nearly fell off. He will get it resized when he has lost all the weight he wants to lose. If he didn’t wear it I wouldn’t be bothered at all. If I didn’t wear mine I would also be missing my ring finger on my left hand 😂
