To ask, do you/OH wear a wedding ring?

Just curious really.

My rings are gold which was fashionable at the time, but I don't particularly like them now as almost all the rest of my jewellery is silver. (I did look into getting them dipped, but the setting of the stones means it would be very awkward) So whether or not I wear them depends on what else I'm wearing. I do wear them sometimes but it's hit and miss. Probably 50/50 I'd say.
I don't wear them to work or the gym (safety reasons) but will almost always wear them on a night out.

MIL CONSTANTLY comments on it, so much so that I've taken to deliberately NOT wearing them around her, I know it's childish but as far as I'm concerned, it's none of her business anyway.

DH always wears his ring. He's not bothered whether I do or not and if he didn't wear one it wouldn't bother me either.

Just wondering whether people wear them always or whether, like me, they come on and off?

@TittyGolightly, yes, same here. I didn't change my name so never use Mrs either.

I always wear mine ( wedding , engagement and eternity )
But they’re nit flashy and big at all
DH always wears his wedding ring too
A very simple gold band

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 17/06/2018 20:25

Nope, didn't do rings at the ceremony and neither of us own any jewelry at all. I didn't change my name or become 'Mrs' either. We had our 18th anniversary yesterday.

Riv · 17/06/2018 20:26

We exchanged plain yellow gold rings in the wedding ceremony 30 years ago. Never taken them off since.
Neither of us wear any other jewellery, no piercings , no name change, no Mrs. Just rings. D

numptynuts · 17/06/2018 20:26

We do as they can't be taken off. They're tattoos.

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 17/06/2018 20:26

No I don't wear my wedding ring simply because I don't like wearing jewellery.

Poation · 17/06/2018 20:27

All the time. White gold, because I don't like yellow gold and I wear silver. We had both of ours made by the guy that made my engagement ring so it fits perfectly.

DN4GeekinDerby · 17/06/2018 20:27

My spouse wears his current ring plus the original ring (which was damaged and has a large crack in it) on a necklace all the time.

I don't wear a ring. If a ring is snug enough that it doesn't go flying when I use my hands, it gets painful within a few days for my hands (I also can't wear metal bracelets, my wrists end up hurting). I used to have a pretty rubber wood one that was soft enough not to hurt but it snapped and the shop I bought it in is gone now & never found anything like them since. Instead, I got engraved washer rings with our names and year of marriage and wear it (along with another one with our kids initials and a few pendants my spouse has bought me) on a necklace. I love them and it often makes me smile when I go up the stairs as I found a bit like a cat with a bell collar.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/06/2018 20:29

DH doesn’t have one. I wear mine on my right hand

FinallyHere · 17/06/2018 20:31

We both have a plain d-ring band, m8 e is yellow gold, his is platinum. We both wear them all the time.

I was not keen, certainly didn't want an engagement ring with a stone to catch on everything. Had to get mine made smaller where i lost a lot of weight. Otherwise, never take it off, now i don't even notice that i am wearing it.

BorisHair · 17/06/2018 20:31

We both wear ours all the time. They are yellow gold, very, very plain and probably very dated looking at what people choose now.

But at the time it was all we could afford and I can't imagine not wearing it or replacing it. Maybe it's corny but they are a symbol of our marriage and I would be devastated to lose mine.

WatermelonGlitter · 17/06/2018 20:33

Mine no longer fits ( and it's gold, which I don't like anymore), OH refused to ever wear one as he saw someone deglove their finger at work. Sometimes I wonder if people believe us when we say we are married (28 years), especially on holiday. Would love a new wedding ring.

GrumpyOlderBloke · 17/06/2018 20:35

I have never worn any rings for safety reasons.
I rarely wear a watch for the same reasons.

I have never had anyone comment on it. Possibly being male, large, bearded, Northumbrian, opinionated and always employed in heavy industry might account for that.

Gin0clock · 17/06/2018 20:37

I wear both my wedding & eternity rings, hubby wore his the day we got married & hasn’t done since.

Daddystepdaddy · 17/06/2018 20:46

Both of us wear ours all the time.

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/06/2018 20:48

White gold for me and always wear them apart from when doing baking.

DH always wears his band apart from doing work on the cars/bike

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 17/06/2018 20:49

I do. Mine are gold and I just don't give a shit if they don't match the rest of my jewellery.

maymai · 17/06/2018 20:51

Yes we both do, I don't care if they match my other jewellery, they are symbols of our love and commitment and that's far more important imo than if they match! Perfectly safe to wear a wedding band in the gym too I'd have thought.

Balloondog · 17/06/2018 20:52

DH never takes his off. I hardly ever wear mine; only for dressy events/gala dinner/balls that type of thing, in fact I can't remember the last time I wore mine despite having attended such events in the last few months. I probably forgot or couldn't find them! 🙄

Dontknowwhatimdoing · 17/06/2018 20:52

Nope, DH never wanted a ring and didn't have one. I wore mine for the first 9 years, as it seemed to be the done thing. I have never been a fan of wearing rings though, so eventually gave up wearing it, and reverted to type. No one seems to give a damn, and DH and I still know we are married. I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone else.

SharronNeedles · 17/06/2018 20:53

I've never removed my rings for years!!
Only because I have a very bad habit of losing jewellery

EdWinchester · 17/06/2018 20:54

We both do.

I haven't worn my engagement or wedding rings for years, but wear my eternity ring 24/7.

annikin · 17/06/2018 20:54

Yes, both wear them always. White gold.

HyenaHappy · 17/06/2018 20:55

I do, I never take them off. I love my engagement and wedding rings. They’re yellow gold, I like yellow gold for rings.
