nursery sending back clothes like this?

My daughter goes to nursery shes just turned one so needs feeding still unless it's finger food.

She always comes back with her clothes in a bag absolutely rotten now am all for kids getting messy and having fun. Although this is food mess were she should have had a bib on, its always the same and always something near impossible to get out! Thank god for vanish gold!

Now at almost £40 a day I shouldn't have to provide a bib surely they have never mentioned bringing one?

I have been sending her in in and 2nd hand stuff but even after one wear most of the time its wrecked its just so wasteful to bin clothes shes not had much wear out off.

This was todays clothes....how an earth has she got orange food stains on her knees! The paint I don't mind that's normal nursery mess but the food stains are starting to annoy me?

Should I bring it up next session? Is this normal? My son came home immaculate at this age but it was a different nursery.
AIBU??

Mine also always ended up like this from
Nursery. Mine did provide bibs, but I don’t know if they either didn’t use them or my
DC refused to wear them.

Like others have said, I used to keep specific clothes for nursery and I also tried to keep the colours as dark as possible. So navy leggings and a darkish top or black joggers etc.

It is annoying, especially when I like my DC to be dressed nice and clean. But so many clothes were getting ruined so I gave up! Mine also used to change them after lunch if they were particularly messy and roll
Up the clothes and put them in little bags. By the time I retrieved them, they were dried, smelly and crinkly!!

I do think they try to encourage self feeding, they just don’t have the same time we have at home.

Try and find dark colored clothes (not ideal in summer I know), at least the stains don’t show as much!

My daughter does wear a bib at nursery but she is the messiest eater and I get 2 / 3 lots of clothes back at the end of the day.

I pay £65 a day for this privilege. It’s just part of the course. Sainsbury’s / Matalan cheap leggings and tops are your saviour. Don’t throw them away. Our nursery ask kids to be in clean clothes but don’t mind a stain - since she usually got the stains at nursery anyway

Why would a nursery provide and put bibs on children, who do you expect to wash them all?

Inwaiting · 14/06/2018 07:13

Our nursery provides bibs ?

No I’m sorry that is ridiculous!
Accidents happen but cloths shouldn’t be getting in that state regularly.
I have work for a child minder and a nursery and you take precautions bibs clothing covers. Getting food on clothing doesn’t teach children anything, they should be always encouraged to eat and play with food in their hands but cloths should be protected. It looks to me as if they are allowing her access while they feed another child. I would speak to them ASAP

YABU

My ds is the same, but he’s very determined to try to feed himself (same at home) which bib or no bib means he always comes home covered or having to have a full outfit change. I just have shares in vanish & don’t send him in anything super nice.

insancerre · 15/06/2018 06:31

I work in a nursery and we don't feed 1 year olds
They have to do it themselves

This is why they end up messy

I send dd to childminder with a bib but she still comes back completely mucky (not food, usually mud and paint!) - I love it though, she has a great time getting in a mess.
