To wonder why someone has posted a spatula through my letterbox?

I've come home and found a wooden spatula on the inside of my front door that must have come through the letterbox.

Does anyone have any idea where that would have come from?

I'm rather perplexed about its origins

Aaghahhahahahahhahahahahaha sorry OP but that's hilarious. Grin

I'd hazard a guess that they've either borrowed of bought it for one of your neighbours and put it through the the wrong door.

neddle · 11/06/2018 21:00

Were there any leaflets or anything else?
It’s recommended to use a spatula to open stiff letterboxes and avoid fingers getting trapped or bitten by dogs.

dawnc27 · 11/06/2018 21:01

was there any leaflets or junk mail there too?

WereAllBladesArentWe · 11/06/2018 21:01

It wasn't me.

babybrainusedtobesmart · 11/06/2018 21:01

Could be more sinister and they were trying to get the door open by reaching for a handle/key?

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 11/06/2018 21:01

Could it be a coded message that you have stirred up trouble for someone?

Sashkin · 11/06/2018 21:02

I expect it was for somebody else and they have just put it through the wrong door. Your NDNs are probably sitting at home pissed off that their friend hasn’t returned their favourite spatula yet.

But that is quite a boring solution, so hopefully people on here will have more entertaining ideas...

Sturmundcalm · 11/06/2018 21:02

i would guess leaflet deliverer who put it through by accident!

Isleepinahedgefund · 11/06/2018 21:02

Is it instead of growing pampas grass in front garden? Apparently pampas grsss isn’t that popular anymore. Maybe a spatula is the new pampas grass.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/06/2018 21:03

I was put posting sone leaflets recently, with a spatula, and a dog very quietly took it from the other side. I had to ring the bell and ask for it back. Do you have a dog?

bakingdemon · 11/06/2018 21:03

I used to do a lot of leaflet delivery and the poster above is right, it's often recommended to use a wooden spoon or similar to poke letterboxes open in case they're really stiff or there's a dog on the other side

wowfudge · 11/06/2018 21:04

I agree with the pps that a leafleter has put it through accidentally.

gracielacey · 11/06/2018 21:04

Ah, leaflet delivery would make sense as it was surrounded by Labour and Lib Dem leaflets!

(In Lewisham, and there's a parliamentary by-election on Thursday)

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/06/2018 21:04

Isleep the spatula would be much better than the pampas grass as you could use it for spanking too...

FiestyCherry · 11/06/2018 21:04

Did a slimming world leaflet appear through your door at the same time....I have friends who are consultantsand they use a wooden spoon / spatula to push leaflets through doors in case there is a snappy dog on the the other side of the door....I kid you not 😂

Ohyesiam · 11/06/2018 21:04

They want to spank you with it.....

gracielacey · 11/06/2018 21:04

Don't have a dog though!

OP posts:
FiestyCherry · 11/06/2018 21:05

Wondering if they pushed it too far through with your leaflet and lost it!

FiestyCherry · 11/06/2018 21:06

They wouldn’t know you didn’t have a dog though they use it just in case

BasilFaulty · 11/06/2018 21:06

I suppose they don't know if you've got a dog though tbf.
Is that elastic bands around the bottom of it?

JustGettingStarted · 11/06/2018 21:07

Definitely a leaflet deliverer. I have lost similar implements when I have leafletted.

JustGettingStarted · 11/06/2018 21:08

Also I didn't use the implement only because of dogs - I wanted to push it in hard so it would fly out further into the front hall.
