Semi see-through dress to a work do

No, I'm not entirely thick, but we have a work event on Thursday and the theme is Caribbean.

I bought this dress.
Unfortunately I only tried it on this evening and it's a little bit see-through.
I've nothing else to blooming wear for this god-damned themed crap. I've bought a colourful necklace yokeymebob for around my neck and will wear nude coloured underwear (still have to buy the knickers) but....
Would you completely re-think outfit? The fabric is quite thin...?

Headscarf and big earrings would be good with a plain maxi dress.

I've never heard the term beach dress, but I'd assume it's something you'd wear over a bathing suit, and that is what this looks like, IMO. I'd think a maxi dress with a large floral print would work.

Can you attach a slip under it.
Flip flops , ankle bracelet.
Brightly patterned bikini top.
Plastic flowers in your hair.
Lots of bangles
Sun glasses
And a big fake cocktail glass

I was planning on wearing a wide brimmed summer hat. I don't have anything printed AT ALL. I'm very minimalist lol in terms of clothing choices, though usually not as minimalist as this particular item. I have a pair of shorts. I guess I could just wear a plain top and the garland necklace thing and the hat.

It looks very Caribbean. I would feel a bit naked with it. But if you look good on it and feel comfortable go for it.

Send it back and get actual clothing rather than beach wear. Something like these dresses.

Charity shop for a print scarf that you can do twist knot head scarf with. I would say the dress is a bit short for a work thing, I would be fretting I’d show my Ass by accident!

Believe me, we've already had the discussion about Hawaii/Caribbean lol - I think they really didn't think through what they were saying. Theme is Caribbean and guys are clear on what they've to wear (Hawaiian shirts). Girls - no such guidance, pc or not!

I do agree with PP that it’s an odd theme to have gone with. Risks a bit of cultural insensitivity and potential offence. Hawaiian and Caribbean culture are not interchangeable.

What about a little play suit in a bright colour?
