Having a giggle at this one tonight. Who wouldn't want a one eyed owl and some very small bits of carpet?

ChristinaMarlowe · 11/06/2018 00:01

Sold? You twit, to who?! 🦉

UpstartCrow · 11/06/2018 00:08

That painted eye...just why wouldn't they bin them?

AlecOrAlonzo · 11/06/2018 07:50

The offers haven't been flooding in.

I don't know it was worth the effort of posting them for sale...

It never ceases to amaze me what shite people think people will buy.

I’m always surprised though by the amount of used carpet, laminate, paving slabs and random bricks that are listed in my local selling site and they always go! It seems the smaller amount the more people argue of it it.

ThePencil · 11/06/2018 08:06

I can understand the carpet as it has uses - gardeners can use them to suppress weeds, for example. That owl is the stuff of nightmares, though.

ShotsFired · 11/06/2018 08:08

Anybody after a bunch of mismatched, mostly shadeless lamps, where only some of them have plugs?

Yours! For the bargain sum of only £50

Haha at the owl. I have bought bits of carpet off of fbook before, i use them to line my dogs wooden kennel.
We also asked if anyone had any for sale when my mum had her pool put in because you have to wait a certain amount of time for it all to settle before you can pave and we used it for walkways to stop so much dirt getting in the pool.
Have seen some real grotty bits for sale which i wouldn't even use for the dog!
My local fbook site is getting more and more posts for free stuff at the front of houses, stuff that should be taken to the tip usually lol can't blame them if its working and people are taking it.

Bumbumtaloo · 11/06/2018 08:57

Just to say I have almost bought carpet from Facebook but it wasn’t wide enough. The carpet, laminate etc I was referring to, and should have made clear, is the really shitty stuff that needs to go to the tip and yet people argue like mad over it.

Like a pp a lot of people are leaving heaps of free stuff at the front of their houses and from the pictures you can see the best place for it is the tip and yet again people are arguing over it.

We’re in the process of redecorating our house, taking carpets up and putting new flooring down and will be getting new sofas DH asked what I’m going to do with the stuff we’re getting rid of and I jokingly said putting it on Facebook, I might just do it now Grin

Bananasinpyjamas11 · 11/06/2018 09:07

A one eyed owl?!

With carpet?!

Someone I know sold some leaves on eBay for ten pounds claiming they were from a famous singers grave. They sold!

LemonBreeland · 11/06/2018 09:08

From our local Facebook selling page, I give you. A £20 Primark gift card for £20!

MarthasGinYard · 11/06/2018 09:09
Grin
MarthasGinYard · 11/06/2018 09:10

Do they not want to pay Petrol to transport those seats to the local tip??

Juells · 11/06/2018 09:17

Those lamps are OK for £50 though. I'd buy them, if I happened to need lamps. They look like they're quite good quality, plugs are easy to fit.

Starlight345 · 11/06/2018 09:21

I did sell a broken washer on eBay . I got £50 for it . I was shocked really only sold it to save paying someone to take it to the tip.

Zaphodsotherhead · 11/06/2018 09:34

Sometimes old stuff that doesn't work (but still looks okay), like lamps, household stuff, sells to theatre companies or prop companies. I had a friend who used to buy random crap at auctions (think stuff like old envelopes, 1950's postcards, toast racks, bakelite switches) and would sell them on to places that stored them for use in TV dramas and theatre productions, where they are used as background set dressing.

SaucyJack · 11/06/2018 09:38

Someone on one of our local pages is selling used That's Not My.... books for £3.50 each, or 5 for £15.

Good luck with that (!)

MacavityWasFramed · 11/06/2018 09:42

I think George Carlin once said "If you nail two things together which have never been nailed together before, some schmuck will buy it."

BasilFaulty · 11/06/2018 10:19

I love these kind of threads!!! More tat please!!!! GrinGrin

LunaMay · 11/06/2018 10:20

@Starlight345 do you not have a guy (or several) that continually post on your local page offering to take away old white goods for scrap?

AviatorShades · 11/06/2018 10:25

Oh, I'd give that poor one-eyed owl a home! I'd make him an eye patch (sequins may be involved) and love him forever. Sob.
