Plain painted feature wall - fine

Wallpapered chimney breast in big flowers in an otherwise bland room - yes a bit naff.

When we move I have a fancy to do DD's bedroom with one wall papered with a delicate floral and then the other walls in different pastel colours.

I'm feeling quite inspired to redecorate now. Some of your houses sound gorgeous.
