BUNFIGHT HERE

999 replies

beluga425 · 07/06/2018 14:54

Am I imagining it or are very simple innocuous threads descending into bunfights more frequently.

I cordially invite everyone to ready their flinging buns here instead. Needed are:

  • Someone to police the fight (whilst stirring it up a bit);
  • Grammar police to insure everybodies writing proper (your welcome);
  • Someone to ignore the basic points and totally misinterpret the thread;
  • About 50 posters to find increasingly patronising ways of saying RTFT;
  • Someone to be utterly horrified;
  • Punctuation lessons from those in-the-know;;;;;;;;
-Liberal use of these two: Hmm Confused;
  • and a passive aggressive "Wow, just wow" on page 3.

Hi I have not posted here before I found this thread when I was googling “how to get a lot of attention for a joke thread on a popular forum” and so rather than start my own thread I will post on this obviously popular thread with my own story. So the thing is that I really like forums and I find it super entertaining when someone makes up a meta thread where everyone can get involved and feel like they are all part of an “in the know crowd” by making jokes that other people will recognize as jokes and establishing their credentials by referring to previous threads from a long time ago that have become memorable due to the fact that they involve an unusual subject or an OP who doesn’t seem very self-aware, or perhaps someone who is reporting on an ongoing and fast-moving real world drama. My problem is that I just don’t have enough drama in my real life and I am generally quite self aware and also quite “normal” if you will, so it’s unlikely that I will have the opportunity to create a truly great thread that will make me feel like I’ve somehow made my mark on a popular internet forum unless I can come up with a really great joke thread, which was why I was googling it and how I ended up here. My other problem though is that I am not half as clever as a lot of the posters here so I just don’t think I can come up with a thread as clever as this so I am left wit the option of trying to get involved by making a post that stands out for being annoying in a way that is typical of posts in a thread like this. So yeah, that’s my story and I don’t really know what to do about it and if any of you could help me can you please tell me what I should do, thanks xx

My apologies Freudianslurp I am just figuring out how this forum works so I am sorry if I have offended anyone by not doing things the way they are meant to be done but I really need help with my problem so I feel like it’s time to make this thread all about me thanks xx

Encouraging people to bunfight? At half term?? Do you normally live under a bridge, OP?

An invitation to a bun fight is just an invite not a summons. YANBU to have a child free bun fight as long as you accept that some people won’t come.

Coffeeonthesofa · 08/06/2018 02:43

OP are you planning a free bar at your bunfight? If not you should only invite half the number of people so that you can cater it in the way that I think is appropriate.

lisasimpsonssaxophone · 08/06/2018 03:30

It’s this flagrant bun-throwing WHEN YOU ALL KNOW I’m gluten-intolerant

You’re not gluten intolerant though! If you were really gluten intolerant you wouldn’t even be able to type the word ‘bun’ without your insides exploding. I’m sick of people saying they’re gluten intolerant even though other people’s dietary requirements affect me in precisely zero ways so I’ve decided nobody is allowed to be gluten intolerant unless I decide it’s OK.

And how come I only got an evening invitation?! AIBU to be both FUMING and LIVID?

mathanxiety · 08/06/2018 05:32

Won't somebody please think about the children Shock

borntobequiet · 08/06/2018 06:19

Go figure.

Skiiltan · 08/06/2018 06:27

Flowers Didn't want to read and run.
Hope your OK.

ProustianMadeleine · 08/06/2018 06:27

You could stretch that bun out to serve a family of 4 for 3 days if you added lentils OP.

Are those lentils woven though?

Didn't think so Hmm

OrdinaryGirl · 08/06/2018 06:39

I was in this situation. It all seems really innocent OP, and this is not what you want to hear, but I'm afraid I think Fred is hiding something.

WhiskeySourpuss · 08/06/2018 08:11

More importantly are children invited? I don't think I could leave Xenia-Javier-Hepsabelle with a sitter for the evening... she's only 1248 weeks old & still EBF... MIL has offered but she'll try to give X-J-H some carrot sticks & I'm just not ready to wean yet & when I do I want to start with purées.

Also I'm wearing a floor length white ball gown - hope you're dress won't clash with that Smile

Floeer · 08/06/2018 08:14

Don't even think about doing this mid-week, no one will attend, you are being so self-centred.

UnderTheOakTree · 08/06/2018 08:17

Thread deleted - OP is a previously bunned poster.

(Sorry if that's already been done - obviously haven't RTFT...Blush)

PlatypusPie · 08/06/2018 08:26

My DD is no angel at times Grin but it’s only the word of that teacher who always has it in for her and the rest of those mean girls in her class that she took an entire sack of buns in with her and used them to to ‘terrorise’ Y7. They are her buns and it’s nobody’s business what she chooses to do in her lunch break.

Should I go down that school and now and demand to see the Head or should I go straight to the Governors and report it to OFSTED ?

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 08/06/2018 08:45

Anyone else fancying a bun for breakfast instead of their usual homemade granola with goats' milk yoghurt and avocado and kale?

YAB(unning)U Op

reallyanotherone · 08/06/2018 08:50

But what are you referring to by “bun”

Where i grew up a bun is made of bread, for making sandwiches. A bread bun.

When i lived down south a bread bun is referred to as a roll. A bread roll.

I went to yorkshire last week and was bizarrely offered a “bun” with my coffee when visiting. They were referring to a small cake with icing on, not a bread product.

Is this an americanism that people here are now using? It’s disgraceful. We should stick to our own terms and customs and stop absorbing american culture.

treeofhearts · 08/06/2018 08:54

You lot sound unhinged
