to not think I am overweight?

Afternoon all,

Currently undergoing some medical investigations but in the meantime my GP said I am "overweight and unhealthy" which is why I have a "large tummy". I thought being 8.5 stone (with a height of 5'4") wasn't anywhere near overweight - I am a size 6/8? And as for unhealthy, okay yes I have 3 cups of coffee a day but I eat easily 7-10 portions fruit/veg a day and rarely snack and generally avoid all fizzy drinks. Granted I don't domuch beyond mum duties but I do walk everywhere, but GP didn't ask about any of this.

Anyway she has told me to go on a diet and do more exercise.
I asked her recommendation on how to do that, through tears as it did hurt to hear how I am fat, but she just told me to cut down on what I eat and at least walk more.

Idk what I expect tbh! Just AIBU in thinking I am not overweight? I thought it was more of a bloating issue I had?

Oh good god. Yanbu. You are not overweight.

OP, i’d Ask the surgery for a copy of the ultrasound report, the radiologist will have written down if more tests or an onward referral is needed

Abitlost2015 I've seen the letter myself from the sonographer. GP got it up on the screen, it said something similar to:

Uterine lining normal, left ovary normal, right ovary multiple follicule masses

That was literally it?

Glad to read the pain, bloating and frequent peeing is nothing to worry about.

No no no these all need checking by a gynae. Your GP something sounds dangerously lacking in knowledge.

Redundant something there Confused

Definitely still get them checked OP - a gynae will be able to help you with the symptoms and devise a treatment plan, as well as keep an eye on them in case it's something else.

Unfortunately, the treatment for follicular cysts is usually to wait for them to resolve themselves (they burst and the fluid is absorbed) but if they are causing a lot of pain you would need to push for treatment, which is keyhole surgery (unless they are massive).

They won't do surgery until they are greater than 5cm anyway, but even then it's down to who you get and what they think. Mine are currently 7cm+ on both sides and I'm on paracetamol 4x day and have been since the end Feb when I got diagnosed. Finally getting seen again at the end of June.

for painkillers, take paracetamol not ibuprofen as the latter adds to the digestive problems if taken for more than a few days. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

DerelictWreck thank you for that! Sorry to read you are suffering with them too Flowers Can I just have it totally removed? I am honestly at that point now where I just want the whole ovary cut out of me
