To ask you how often your children have a bath/shower?

I ask because my DDs age 11 and 9 have just come back from a week at their DF's and have only had ONE bath, no showers. My eldest has hit puberty so gets sweaty and spotty now and her hair gets very smelly too so has a shower every other day at home or daily if it's been very warm like the past weeks. The younger one isn't as keen but will still have a shower every other day. They do it themselves and I just dry their hair as they prefer me to do it.
My stbexh doesn't see a problem but this is a man who used to get his dirty nurses uniform out of the clothes hamper and iron it to wear again Envy(not envy).
I'm not a clean freak but they are doing swimming lessons, judo, horse riding, swimming in rivers, climbing trees and generally getting grubby like children should so I think they should have the opportunity to have showers more often than once a week. AIBU?

Every other night for baby DD. Now she's weaning, despite me cleaning her, she needs it by that point desperately.

My partner washes once a week and smells amazing I have to shower every day

Lethaldrizzle · 06/06/2018 11:55

My dcs once a week

Daily showers here. It's just part of the morning routine.

Bath every evening for 6 and 8 year old. Not only to wash away daily grime but ensure no residual poo stuck to their backsides ( the just turned six year old doesnt always wipe her bum properly). They may skip a bath 4-5 times a year, but teeth brushing twice a day is mandatory. Hair, PJs and bed linen washed once a week.

Not every day for toddler DS because sometimes he's too tired if we've been out that day or whatever. But most days for sure. He sits in a wet nappy, is covered in sun cream and food half the time. Only a bath gets right into the creases.

Similar story in my family. My niece (11) n nephew (9) shower "most days".. probably 5 out of 7 days a week. They just got back from 10 days with their dad and only had 1 shower each.

Mines only 2.5 and has 2 baths a week, sometimes 3 if he's got dirty. He has sensitive skin though so less washing is better.

Three times a week.

Bath every other night unless we run out of time, in which case I stand her in the bath and give her a good wash down. Face and bottom get a good wash with a soapy sponge every morning and on the nights when she doesn't have a bath. I wouldn't insist on twice a day if she was more reliable at wiping her bottom after going to the loo, but I think a good wash daily is necessary. I shower every day, twice if it's particularly hot or I've been exercising. I will encourage DD to do the same when she hits puberty, but my mum says I had a soap-dodging phase in my early teens, so I hope I'll be able to ride it out if she does. Surely nobody wants to be smelly.
