I don’t have a hugely sweet tooth but lately I’ve been really craving a Feast ice cream.
I’ve probably not eaten one since the 90’s btw!
The chocolate centre is about the third of the size than I remember, I wanted to feel very indulged with a naughty treat and it’s not even touched the sides!

Full-size Magnums are just too big, and the mini ones only seem to come in boring flavours here. I had a Haagen Dazs salted caramel lolly the other week which was a bit smaller than a Magnum and lovely.

I've never had a Feast Shock We were never allowed them growing up - it had to be one of the smaller, simpler cheaper lollies.

A Feast is my absolute favourite ice cream and never disappoints.

Unless you inadvertently break off too much if the chocolate at the start...

And far superior to a Magnum.

WorzelsCornyBrows · 30/05/2018 22:45

I agree butterscotch angel delight, which used to be the best pudding, is now shit. DH bought the low sugar stuff and made it with skimmed milk, was awful, so I bought the proper stuff and made it with the kids’ full fat milk, it was still awful.

yerbutnobut · 30/05/2018 22:47

really want a toffee crumble nowGrin.
I had a classic cornetto yesterday, first in years and it just tasted of UHT milk, wont be buying again

Lilacwine1 · 30/05/2018 22:49

TheFirstMrsOsmond They sell them in Tesco, very moreish. I haven't tried the raspberry Magnums, I'm going to add them to the shopping list.

glasshouse · 30/05/2018 22:49

Magnum did a spiced chocolate flavour for about a nanosecond some years back. Could eat my body weight in those, that's a lot of ice cream.

Ohmydayslove · 30/05/2018 22:52

Oh great thread op.

I was very dissalointed with a Curley Wirley. Surely they used to be massive?

I want a sherbet and liquorish now! Feeling it’s 1974! Grin

PeppermintPasty · 30/05/2018 22:58

Pah! Modern Curly Wurlies are horrid! The old ones were much softer, and tastier, the new ones are too tough and plasticky tasting.

MipMipMip · 30/05/2018 22:58

How can a magnum be too big?Confused

bunbunny · 30/05/2018 23:00

Do people remember when Feasts were called Big Feasts? I think changing their name was the start of their downfall although I'd still prefer one to a Magnum (or a Mugmum as ds2 still calls them, despite being told zillion times what the rest of the world call them Grin).

Little Miss Brainy You can still get Ice Magic - I have some in the cupboard that feels like it has half a bottle left but when you come to shake it and pour it out nothing happens - suspect one of the dc had some early on and didn't shake hard enough so had a very gooey greasy portion of Ice Magic and there's not enough left to do it's job...

We used to call it splodge - no idea why though!

Lilacwine1 · 30/05/2018 23:00

Can anybody remember a chocolate bar called Aztec by Cadburys. Extremely moreish.

user1497991628 · 30/05/2018 23:16

I liked the original coconut Boosts too.

OhNoes · 30/05/2018 23:22

Does anyone remember the bright blue ice lollies from the 70's? I think they were called Electric Blue ~ obviously full of banned chemicals but they tasted lovely!

LoopyLou1981 · 30/05/2018 23:27

If you want utter disappointment try a findus crispy pancake...my childhood is ruined! 😩

Eveforever · 30/05/2018 23:31

I lament the demise of Cadbury creme eggs.

ThistleAmore · 30/05/2018 23:36

If you really want to be disappointed, buy a Mini-Milk.

They're SHIT.

Granted, my hands used to be a lot smaller, but honestly, they're about the size of a wizened pencil stub, and taste of runny, slightly milky water. I was horrified.

RobinsEggBlue · 30/05/2018 23:37

I had exactly the same craving a few weeks ago and was so disappointed! The chocolate in the middle was so watery. Not like how I remembered it. What are they ruining everything??

ThistleAmore · 30/05/2018 23:38

@bunbunny, you can still get Ice Magic? Bloody hell, I thought that had been banned years ago.

Where?

(Asking for a friend, obvs)

MadisonAvenue · 30/05/2018 23:46

LoopyLou I know! I bought some minced beef Crispy Pancakes recently - disgusting!

There's an ice cream I remember from the 70s which no one else seems to recall. We used to get them from the ice cream man and they were a bit more expensive so were just an occasional treat and we had to share. They were packaged like a small box of chocolates filled with bite-sized cubes of ice cream covered in chocolate, they came in mint or orange flavours.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/05/2018 23:51

Feats were a special treat as was a cornetto rarely had them

I liked Mint Crisp Chocolate cover mint ice cream with chocolate in the middle Mint Magnums are not the same

Nobbly Bobbly no longer have that waxy chocolate bit in the middle it’s now chocolate ice cream Hmm

Toffee Crumble is still nice but something is different about the taste not as toffeeish maybe Confused

gillybeanz · 30/05/2018 23:51

Does anyone remember texan (sure is a mighty chew) and Pink Panther chocolate bars, bit like caramac but strawberry flavoured. I miss these.

I also preferred the brown (traditional)? flavoured Spangles.

I also want some beef potato puffs, but am happy fish and chips came back.

MissTulipan · 30/05/2018 23:57

Rock around the choc...anyone remember them?

MipMipMip · 31/05/2018 00:04

Oh god, crispy pancakes. I made that mistake a few years ago. Really not nice.

I keep mini milks in my freezer. Always good when I need something and they're so small there's no way they could fit any calories in.

eggsandchips · 31/05/2018 00:15

Nothing can beat SUPERMOUSSE.

bunbunny · 31/05/2018 00:17

@ThistleAmore I've just checked in the cupboard and it's called Askey's Chocolate Crackin' sauce so it's not the real deal Ice Magic, sorry.

However it does taste identical, does the identical going hard on ice cream trick and has the same sort of bizarre consistency whereby there's chocolate gunk and an oily substance that you have to shake together really well before pouring it out.

Sorry, I really thought it was still called Ice Magic Blush but I guess I haven't looked at it that closely recently and as I still think of it as splodge and still think of splodge as Ice Magic, I hadn't stopped to double check.

I get mine in a bigger Sainsbury's. And often in smaller ones too in the summer!
