To ask about your low calorie snacks?

I'm calorie counting to lose weight and generally managing fine except that I feel hungry all the time until I've had my evening meal, and it's eroding my willpower!

I think I need better low calorie snacks to fill me up - does anyone have any suggestions for something satisfying and filling that's not more than about 120 calories?

Thank you!

I like a curly wurly because it's about 100 calories and takes a while to eat because it's chewy.
Bags of skips are under 100 as well.

I lost lots of weight about 12 years ago when I was getting married and one of the secrets of my success was a made up sachet of Oat So Simple about an hour after my evening meal - totally took away my urge to snack. Eggs are also really filling.

Popcorn
Fruit

Nuts

TittyGolightly · 30/05/2018 17:33

You’d save calories by not snacking.

TittyGolightly · 30/05/2018 17:34

I eat 800 cals per day much of the time “, eat 2-3 times a day in an 8 hour window and it’s rare I feel hungry.

BrieAndChilli · 30/05/2018 17:36

Sweet and salty popcorn. Most of the supermarkets do multipacks of 6 little packets.

Nuts, dried banana, for something crunchy

Pomegranate seeds

Cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks

Sticks of cheddar dipped in pickle

Boiled eggs

PeonyTruffle · 30/05/2018 17:39

Crab sticks! About 17kcals each

If you are hungry all day until you’ve had your evening meal (this is how I understand your post OP), then why not eat a bigger breakfast or lunch, then less in the evening.

TittyGolightly good for you! You must feast like a king on the mythical MN chicken.

I’m vegetarian. 😂

AsAProfessionalFekko · 30/05/2018 17:43

Rice cakes. Even the yogurt covered ones and rather nice.

Slippery · 30/05/2018 17:46

Solero ice cream
Banana
30 g oats with water not milk

lljkk · 30/05/2018 17:47

carrots, celery, tomatoes, cucumber. Any fruit or veg, really.

Rocinante1 · 30/05/2018 17:48

A marscapone oopsie bread roll (around 95 cals) with 5g of nuttella hazelnut spread (27 cals). It's 122 cals of warm, fluffy chocolateyness and it's quite filling.

Rocinante1 · 30/05/2018 17:49

*mascarpone

lovesugarfreejelly63 · 30/05/2018 17:49

Try a teaspoon of peanut butter spread on a crispbread, very tasty.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 30/05/2018 17:49

TittyGolightly-what sort of meals do you eat that snacks you to feel full on 800 calories?
I'm vegetarian too, and would love to have some ideas!

OP-there's these muller chocolate desserts I get, they're something like 77 calories and are quite nice. Fruit salad is another I go to.

Pattyandbump · 30/05/2018 17:51

I think you need to be having more filling meals rather than low calorie ones of you're feeling hungry.

MaiaRindell · 30/05/2018 17:53

A strong cup of tea or coffee followed by chewing gum. Raw carrots

VanGoghsDog · 30/05/2018 17:54

Berries are very low cal and it's the season for nice British ones now, plus pineapple is low cal.

Rice crackers, those spicy Japanese ones. Carrot sticks, 'snacking' cucumber etc.

When I am fasting I have a cuppa soup (44 cals) and two crackers (19 each).

When I'm not fasting I also buy bags of fun sized choc things as sometimes I 'need' chocolate but I only need a little bit, so better if I have s mall thing I can quickly put my hands on.

goodbyeeee · 30/05/2018 17:55

I do a few little gem lettuce "cups" and fill them with lean chicken, ham, prawns or cream cheese and a bit of smoked salmon. A nice bit of crunch and the protein is filling. Or celery sticks with a bit of peanut butter spread down the middle. Or peanut butter on a couple of oatcakes.

araiwa · 30/05/2018 17:55

Water

hennybeans · 30/05/2018 17:57

Asparagus cooked in the oven with fry light butter flavour and salt. It's lovely and buttery and salty. I can eat an entire package of asparagus myself if cooked that way.

Tender stem broccoli stand then sprinkled with a teaspoon of parmesan. Also very nice.

A cup of Alpro dark chocolate almond milk, cold.

An apple. My SW leader says if you're not hungry enough to eat an apple, you're thirsty!Grin
