To call my Sister a thieving cow

My sister who is 65 and should know better is staying for a couple of days, and came this morning tonight she asked if she could have a shower before BGT, well of course there was no problem, my shower is her shower, I got out fresh towels showed her how the new shower works and gave her a choice of Radox shower creams we have about 4 fragrances and left her to it.

Went to to the bathroom door to tell her BGT was about to start, heard her tuneless singing and the unmissable smell of my FENJAL body mousse, well I didn't say she couldn't use it but it was in the bathroom cabinet not on the side of the bath so she would have had to open the cabinet to find it, sitting here faintly fuming not said anything to her, DH didn't help by saying 'oh you smell nice'

I only use it for special occasions myself and it looks like she has used half the bloody can.

Not happy at all

ohreally you are taking this too personally.

The washing up comment is because you took it so personally, explaining your circimastaces. Ones that are unlike those discribed in the op. I agree that the washing up comment was uncalled for but sone people try and defuse awkward situations with humour.

From the op 5.40 isnt a lot compared to what op normally spends on shower gel. Thats why its getting so many huh its not that expensive comments.

I appricate its a lot fot some one who normally buys 33p own brand stuff, a lot of my childhood that was my family, fuck radox woukd have seemed expensive

LearnFromThePast · 29/05/2018 11:00

I wouldn’t have an issue with the shower gel, but I would have an issue with her rifling through my cabinets to find it. It does seem like there may be a bigger story here though OP?

ohreallyohreallyoh · 29/05/2018 11:12

Naught I appreciate your comments. It’s not personal. I just can’t stand the many, many posts on here about similar stuff which suggest cheap toiletries are somehow a Terrible Thing. Think Baylis and Harding as Xmas presents threads. Sometimes, things as ‘cheap’ as £5.40 can represent something very much more than the price tag to someone. The persistent dismissal of what something might mean because it only cost £5.40 is what I was getting at. It would mean the world to me as someone who has 33p to spend (and not only that).

Freaklikemeee · 29/05/2018 11:13

Washing up liquid is even cheaper

My nan sneakily refills her handwash pumps with washing-up liquid. Still catches me every time!
We also used to have 'bubble baths' at her house which I now have my suspicions about.

GinIsIn · 29/05/2018 11:16

Is this some sort of stealth campaign for Fenjal? Fenjal - the fragrance for those who are rude to their siblings... Confused

Surely the cost of 4 different kinds of radox is on a par anyway...?

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 29/05/2018 11:18

*Then to make matters worse, op's dh said "That looks like a tasty bit of toast."

Bluntness100 · 29/05/2018 11:23

I see the ops not come back. I suspect the love for fengel is generational. My step mother loved the stuff and saw it as an extravagance and she's in her sixties now too.

Old habits die hard I guess.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/05/2018 12:03

ohreally this isnt relivent on this thread as ive said radox is expensive and op had not one as a treat but 4 plus fenjel.

Maybe make the point wgere its relivent

SandAndSea · 29/05/2018 13:43

Didn't Radox used to be considered a 'luxury' product? Wonder what happened there...

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/05/2018 13:46

sand certianly when i was growing up ot was.

Radox was the treat

SandAndSea · 29/05/2018 13:59

Naught - Yes it was.
We had a bottle once.
Good times!

BitOutOfPractice · 29/05/2018 14:01
from 1985. I don't think they made fancy dan shower gel then
EleanorHooverbelt · 29/05/2018 14:23

Ordered Palmolive "Just Fabulous" shower gel for £1 in my Tesco order. Got it today. Disappointed with scent, really. Nothing special. Ah well. Hope it is moisturising and not skin-stripping at least.

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2018 18:17

I am home. I have tried said Fenjal shower mousse.

My review

It's shower mousse in a can and comes out like shaving foam. It smells like those Refresher sweets. It has not filled my bathroom with fragrance and DH hasn't said anything despite me wafting past him numerous times.Sad

I've just taken a photo of Fenjal and will buy it when next in Boots.
Tis cheap.
Now if you were talking about my L'occitane almond shower oil I'd be very cross indeed at €22 a pop.
Actually I wouldn't.
I'd have no problem sharing and would hope they'd appreciate it like I do.
It would be wasted on dh though.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/05/2018 18:29

From memory it smelled a bit like antiseptic / toilet cleaner - pine in fact

SmileEachDay · 29/05/2018 18:30

Sparkling

Are you sure you applied it properly?

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2018 18:35

I think I did Smile. Unless Fenjal has to be applied differently to other shower stuff. Grin

I have asked DS2 (16) to give it a go tonight.

RoseWhiteTips · 29/05/2018 18:38

I thought she had cleaned out your bank account. Try to get some perspective on this.Hmm

Ginorchoc · 29/05/2018 18:40

Oh I’ve not used it for years maybe they have changed the scent as it didn’t smell like refreshers or toilet cleaner! I was thinking I’ll order some for nostalgia, maybe not then.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/05/2018 19:05

I thought it had a ferny woodland smell, not quite pine, or is that badedas?

I quite like it

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2018 19:06

I thought Badedas was the piney one.

Freaklikemeee · 29/05/2018 19:15

Badedas is piney. Fenjal is more perfumey.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/05/2018 00:21

Oh goodness @Freaklikemeee I think I've been thinking about badedas all though this thread Blush

AltheaorDonna · 30/05/2018 00:35

I had a Fenjal bath last night in honour of this thread! My Fenjal is much prized as you can't buy it here. I know the shower stuff isn't as nice as the bath oil, but honestly it smells nothing like refreshers. Badedas is the woody piney one though (which I happily discovered you can buy here at $20 a litre). I can't really describe what it smells like, but it makes your skin ever so soft and even works on my cracked heels. I am 48, and yes it was my mum that got me into it, I used to buy it for her at Xmas. Give the bath oil a sniff dry skinned people, if you like the smell I highly recommend it. And if Fenjal are reading this please send me a care parcel in Australia! Grin
