Always pads have made me bleed

Memetic · 26/05/2018 22:49

I’m itching, swollen and bleeding. I stopped using the perfumed shits as soon as I saw I was shedding skin. My bits feel paper thin and the itching won’t stop unless I smother on vagisil. Why the fuck would they perfume pads?!!!

Try boots or supermarket own / cheap pads. Scented pads are the work of the devil.

Memetic · 26/05/2018 23:20

Do any of the own supermarket brands have wings and are they long? I’ve never ever even attempted to look at supermarket branded pads as I’m so used to picking up Always.

I’ve been using always since I started 16 years ago, never any issues 😐

Oldraver · 26/05/2018 23:21

If you want unscented and without gel get the cheap Maxi pads supermarkets do. They are usually in basics pack...they do look a lot thicker than modern pads...more like ones you got years ago but they do squish down and the cover is softer. Its also not bonded to the padding so more comfy

LighthouseSouth · 26/05/2018 23:21

Funny you should say that, they've been suggested to me as unscented but there is no unscented version.

Hope it clears up soon.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 26/05/2018 23:22

There's a brand in Home Bargains, 59p, so far still unscented.

Flamingo84 · 26/05/2018 23:23

I switched to Natracare pads as they are chlorine-free, they do not contain rayon, latex, chemical additives, fragrances or dyes.
I thought it was just the Always brand causing discomfort but the same happened with Bodyform ones.
The Natracare are great and I had no problems with them.

lololove · 26/05/2018 23:23

You poor love - message them definitely!

I can't use Always because of the 'blue stuff' and it turns out that quite a few brands had similar stuff on them so I switched to tampons. They were okay until I started feeling really itchy and dried out inside (despite totm - weird feeling!) so I switched to a mooncup about 3-4 years ago and haven't looked back!

molehill79 · 26/05/2018 23:23

Awful stuff. Try using that Canestan cream with hydrocortisone in which will cool and soothe (but use sparingly as per instructions). Ouch :(

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 26/05/2018 23:25

Had thrush recently. Checked the pant liners I sometimes use (previously unscented) and waddya know; "fresh scent".

There's something going on here (conspiracy!) as this can't be considered healthy. Why has all this perfume suddenly been added to sanitary products when for years it wasn't even thought of?

MintEye · 26/05/2018 23:25

I haven't had a period for over a year so please forgive me if this is wrong, but I used to always buy the Superdrug ultra normal pads and they were great. Wings, pretty long, and no scent.

HerFemaleness · 26/05/2018 23:26

This is happened to me after using perfumed pads. Never again. Never ever again.

I use a mooncup now so barely have to bother with pads unless it's a particularly heavy period.

UpstartCrow · 26/05/2018 23:27

@Memetic Asda own brand have wings, they do a long night time version and they are unscented. 55p for 10 - 12.

Memetic · 26/05/2018 23:28

It’s worse because my old second degree tear scars are also itching and the skin is all thin around there.

I can only use winged pads and long ones for bed time as my periods can get quite heavy sometimes. I’m going to go and have a look at what’s available in tesco tomorrow.

JsOtherHalf · 26/05/2018 23:30

Aldi pads are now scented.
I've gone back the home bargains ones.

Memetic · 26/05/2018 23:31

Thanks for all the suggestions, 55p for 10-12 pads sounds amazing Upstartcrow! My local Asda is a bit far away...might have to try all these pads out next month!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 26/05/2018 23:32

You need to let them know. If enough people complain they may stop doing them.

PurplePimple · 26/05/2018 23:32

I had terrible itching down below and all the way down my legs after having dc2. I went to the doctor and everything and only after a few days realised it must be down to the Always pads that I'd never used before (or since!)

tatty1010 · 26/05/2018 23:36

I am the same, can only use long ones with wings as I have extremely heavy periods some months. I now use always infinity , they are so much more comfortable to wear as they are more like a soft foam. They hold so much more so I 'leak' much less often than I used to.

CornishMaid1 · 26/05/2018 23:37

That really explains something. I've been getting the same problem with always but just thought it was something wrong with me. I'll have to look at changing but really like their secure night pads.

Shambu · 26/05/2018 23:39

Saw Natracare recommended on here, now rely on them.

MrsElla · 26/05/2018 23:39

What marketing moron even thought the smell of period blood and perfume would be a good mix !! At least with unperfumed pads your can't smell anything but with the perfumed ones it mingles with the blood and creates a horrible stench so everyone knows your on. 😷😷😷

Glaciferous · 26/05/2018 23:40

I have extremely heavy periods and find the best thing for them is Kotex night time pads. They are vast, soft, thick, pillowy things but immensely soothing and have never given me a rash. They don't have wings but I've actually found that better. The wings just conduct blood to underneath my pants IME. They do have really sticky glue strips so don't move around unexpectedly at all. Lloyds chemists often have them, also Waitrose.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 26/05/2018 23:41

Can’t use them as perfumed and can’t use others as I’m allergic to latex... oh the joys.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 26/05/2018 23:42

Best pads are Morrison’s night time pads.
