To book us all into a travel lodge for a couple of days?

We’re currently in the middle of having a loft conversion and have no roof, because of where the stairs are being put we already had to move people around so we were all squeezed into 2 rooms (6 of us including a 4 month old and a 2 year old who isn’t a fan of the sleep) not ideal but not unbearable, now due to a leak we’ve had to move us all into one bedroom - plus furniture
Also because we have no roof we have a big old tent over that is so fucking loud in the wind I want to tear my ears off - I honestly can get across how loud it is, all.night.long
None of us have slept properly in days
I am crabby with a capital C

The builders have promised and double promised that the roof will be back on and watertight by Tuesday when the staircase then goes in
I’ve put to DP tonight that we all go to the travel lodge 10 minutes away until Wednesday now that we know it’ll definitely be done for then
He thinks it’s only a couple more nights so it’s a waste of money (he has volunteered to sleep on the couch, so of course he’d say this because you can’t hear the flappy tent from down here!)
I think if we all don’t get a decent sleep I’ll have killed them all by then

Who is BU?

Dont ask, just book.

Leeds2 · 26/05/2018 22:34

I would go, and leave him behind. With as many DC as he will take!

Byebyebye · 26/05/2018 22:35

If you can afford it I would.

Or tell him you’ll be taking the sofa and he can deal with it flappy tent noise.

Hassled · 26/05/2018 22:35

Oh just do it. I did the same for far less than you're going through - there's only so much you can live with. And everything is more manageable if you've just had some sleep.

EdgeOf17 · 26/05/2018 22:36

Go to the Travelodge, (although check you are not double booked). Screw the waste of money, if you can afford it then do it Flowers

raeray · 26/05/2018 22:36

Book book book!
See if there's one with a family room or anything interlinking room so you can get a bit more sleep.
I can almost hear the noise of the tarpaulin and I feel your pain!

xyzandabc · 26/05/2018 22:37

Get thee to the travel lodge. You can not stay, a family of 6, in 1 room, with no roof when there is another option.

keyboardkate · 26/05/2018 22:42

You and your family's comfort and sanity is everything.

Is your DH a bit of a stinge or a martyr lol.

I'd be gone the minute the builders arrived, factored into the cost of the renovations! Leave DH behind with the youngest children. Bet he will change his mind pronto.

Would be bliss wouldn't it to be able to relax away from the noise and dust and leaks and so on. Go for it.

WineAndTiramisu · 26/05/2018 22:46

Definitely head for the Travelodge. If he doesn't want to, leave him at home!

frasier · 26/05/2018 22:46

Go!

Lack of sleep makes you ill.

SparklySeashell · 26/05/2018 22:47

Good grief woman, get it booked!!

BlueTrousers · 26/05/2018 22:56

Ha I knew you’d all agree with me Grin
I’m going to ring in the morning and just see if there’s even anything available
If DP wants to stay here with the tent he can

OP posts:
CoolCarrie · 26/05/2018 22:57

Don’t put it off any longer, go with the dc, and leave him behind if he continues to be an arse !

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 26/05/2018 22:59

Good lord. Why are you even asking Shock
No roof? You poor woman it all sounds horrendous! Get it booked quickly.

BlueTrousers · 26/05/2018 23:00

GreatDuck the roof came off on Monday! 6 days! 6!! 😩

He's a selfish git.
Get it booked right away. Don't Travelodge do online bookings?

BlueTrousers · 26/05/2018 23:01

I’ve told him that MN says he’s a tight arse and I’m booking us in he can sleep where he likes
He’s now scrolling through his phone mumbling about “fucking mumsnet” Grin

OP posts:
BlueTrousers · 26/05/2018 23:02

Oh I didn’t know they did online bookings!

OP posts:
Pythonesque · 26/05/2018 23:11

Not only do travelodge do online bookings, they are cheaper online than if you book direct (even if extending somewhere you are already staying, as we have discovered). Hope you get a better night's sleep tomorrow!

Knittedfairies · 26/05/2018 23:12

Get it booked! Just add it on to the total expenses of the loft conversion; whatever it costs will be a small percentage of that.

redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2018 23:21

Your DH is a knob
HTH
I hope you and the DC are OK

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 26/05/2018 23:26

If DH stays at the house, leave the kids with him. Sharing a hotel room with sleep-dodging kids is crap. If you want sleep, guarantee it.

Troels · 26/05/2018 23:26

Leave Dh to sleep on the couch if he's so sure it's not needed and go to travelodge for a few nights sleep with the kids. You all need it.

MumofBoysx2 · 26/05/2018 23:29

You're very brave to have stayed there while all that's going on in the first place. Book book book!

MissJSays · 26/05/2018 23:30

Do it do it do it!!!
