Do you love, or hate your house?

I've hated every house I've lived in apart from my current house which I love.

It's set back away from the street via a drive, and then another private drive to access the house so we're nowhere near any proper roads. To the side of us is green land. It's detached so no neighbours to fall out with.

Inside it's all corridors and rooms, no open plan nonsense so it's easy to hide away from people. I love it. I can't imagine a better house and I've never felt so settled.

It's 4 bedroomed and the kids are slowly starting to leave - soon we'll only have one here and they're 17 so might fly the nest soon also.

Would I be unreasonable to stay here forever even though it's much surplus to requirements?

Do you love or hate your house and why?

I love the size, views and location, and the house is stunningly beautiful, but it's bloody high-maintenance and expensive, especially as I'm not there all that much and having to try to solve problems from abroad.

I love our house, its a thatched cottage with a beautiful garden on a beautiful little street. Always wanted to own a thatched cottage and now I do. 😳

Love it, for now. It’s a fairly standard 1930s 3 bed semi but a drive and a garden after living in central London are bliss. We’ve spent three years and all our money doing it up so it feels like home. Good, quiet, helpful neighbours make a massive difference too.

However the area is too busy (SE) so we’re looking to move north in a few years. Our perfect house would basically be our current house but in a northern market town!
