Homeisthecalm here, I think it's suitable to start a new ethics thread.

Since clearly, the one from yesterday isn't really about ethics but Clemmie.

Thanks all,

Keep it as nice or as stingy as you like Grin

I'll start off by saying things should be clearly marked 'ad' or 'gifted'

Although the term gifted gives me the rage

Did anyone else see the article in Grazia about mumsnet "bullying" MOD off instagram?

No! Do you have a copy you can share?

mrtumblesmum · 05/06/2018 16:56

Can someone remind me of the ASA link for making a complaint? Really there’s no excuses for people not tagging posts after the furore it seems to have caused them all lately.

Who's not tagged what?
Do they ASA state you must?

jamoncrumpets · 05/06/2018 16:56

Ha! Note MODFOD haven't refuted the MN thing. They're happy to let people think that's what's happened.

YourLookieLikey · 05/06/2018 16:57

Here you go >

Pretty standard Grazia journalism (inaccurate and lazily written)

LaminLodge · 05/06/2018 17:02

Wearelocal nah no damage done,I saw it as funny not snarky 🙂

Genuinely good to have my reading horizons expanded.Wouldn't go as far as calling me a writer just yet, aspiring one tho definitely!! ✍🏽

jamoncrumpets · 05/06/2018 17:04

Gawd, FOD's got it way worse than MOD on here. Suggest journo reads these threads...

YourLookieLikey · 05/06/2018 17:04

Did the attachment post? I can see it on the app but not on the web version.

ScipioAfricanus · 05/06/2018 17:06

Thanks Your!

I won’t say specifically mr as I’m trying to avoid even the most sensitive instamum feeling got at. But yes if you have been paid for a product you must make it clear in some way, according to ASA. Not just refrain from any record of that because most of your followers ‘don’t care whether you are advertising or not hun!’ and haven’t grasped how standards of behaviour and commerce work.

Wearelocal · 05/06/2018 17:06

What an impressive aspiration Laminlodge. I wish you all the best!

Wearelocal · 05/06/2018 17:07

graziadaily.co.uk/life/real-life/clemmie-hooper-mother-of-daughters-instagram-deleted/

Just a rehash of telegraph article?

jamoncrumpets · 05/06/2018 17:09

I'd applaud the journo's angle, if it were accurate. But FOD definitely gets a much rawer deal on here.

MarshaBradyo · 05/06/2018 17:09

Yep just looked and was going to say it’s the same old content from the first article

YourLookieLikey · 05/06/2018 17:11

This is the one I meant (didn't seem to post properly)

Ethics regarding Instamums and huns
MarshaBradyo · 05/06/2018 17:14

Oh that one, skim read it seemed like same sort of fawning. But she’s wrong in any case

LaminLodge · 05/06/2018 17:18

Thanks Wearelocal,I hope you weren't being snarky there?!! Don't think it's exactly impressive,I think there's lots of us wannabe authors about.I work in a large company and when I mention my writing hobby to people you'll be surprised how many people say they're writing a book as well.So far I've discovered Tyler (not Anne 😂😂 he's a dude) in purchasing,Lola in data protection and Janice on reception are all writing the next bestseller.I'm like dang, game ON Grin

YourLookieLikey · 05/06/2018 17:20

Bit of a wasted opportunity to explore the difference between how mums and dads are treated on IG and in the real world. There are lots of inaccuracies in it so my overriding impression is just of sloppiness. Perhaps the re-written narrative is part of the come back process.

mrtumblesmum · 05/06/2018 17:21
  1. FOD has a thicker skin
  2. midwife, "mother and grafter"?!

Hmm must remember to tell people not only my profession but that I am also a "mother and grafter" too - aren't we f!!!ing all??!

ScipioAfricanus · 05/06/2018 17:23

I’m a mother, grafter and an adventurer.

jamoncrumpets · 05/06/2018 17:23

I think the journo's point was that he doesn't have a thicker skin, tumble. And I'd be so with her if he hadn't been scrutinised to bits on here.

Wearelocal · 05/06/2018 17:25

😱 what horseshit from Grazia! The problem
is, if the ODs don't correct this narrative, plenty of people will be keen to themselves, when mod returns. I don't think this will just be dropped.

LaminLodge · 05/06/2018 17:30

Sloppy writing in Grazia you say? Maybe that writer needs to read some Anne Tyler too eh @wearelocal Wink
I raise my hand to being a grafter. Single mother of three, work fulltime, their deadbeat dad has long gone, get some help from my mother but she's getting on bless her.Am middle management in a boring company, not anything worthy like a midwife. Shouldn't count but it probably does [anger]

Wearelocal · 05/06/2018 17:30

Laminlodge 🤣 Get writing!

mrtumblesmum · 05/06/2018 17:31

What I don't get is Why is she held on such a pedestal, what about every other NHS midwife "mother and grafter" that doesnt sell their soul and kids online. No ones giving them celebrity status.

MarshaBradyo · 05/06/2018 17:34

I can’t bring myself to read it but I can guess what type of article it is

Ok scratch that I read it. What a load if shite
Seriously what pass
