To ask if you believe in tarot cards

Has anyone ever had a chance reading that came true?

I went to an event last year which had tarot readers, and I did it for a bit of fun. Some of it was nonsense but some things were quite accurate - but maybe they could have rung true for most people?

I'm interested to hear people's experiences on it and whether anyone believes there is something in it. I have an open mind about these things and think there are many things we humans can never understand.

Nope.

Beamur · 23/05/2018 19:22

No. I don't.

HermioneWeasley · 23/05/2018 19:23

Nope. Pure bunk

SaucyJack · 23/05/2018 19:24

No, not in a parapsychic way.

They can be an interesting tool in helping work through a decision tho. Bit like flipping a coin- but more detailed.

mavismcruet · 23/05/2018 19:29

Nopety nope

SquatBetty · 23/05/2018 19:36

Nope, load of old bollocks

FASH84 · 23/05/2018 19:37

Nope it's a scam often used to get money out of people when vulnerable, eg after a bereavement.

AfterSchoolWorry · 23/05/2018 19:37

No.

Katinkka · 23/05/2018 19:45

No. I have a pack though. They are pretty.

Fluffyears · 23/05/2018 19:47

I did have one reading that was scarily accurate and has happened. She also did psychometry from a piece of jewellery and it was very detailed and relevant without being vague and wishy washy.

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 23/05/2018 19:48

I used to work on tarot lines. Those cards are so vague they could apply to most people.

Plus it's easy to read people and pick up on the bits you're getting right and go along with that.

Also in readings you forget the 20 vague or incorrect things and only remember the 2 or 3 accurate things, which you always get because a dark or blonde haired male or female will enter your life, or a birth death or marriage will happen at some point.

SparklyMagpie · 23/05/2018 19:48

Nope

Yokatsu · 23/05/2018 19:49

Yes very much so. But I used to do it for myself

MissWilmottsGhost · 23/05/2018 19:51

I believe in tarot cards. They definitely exist cos I have a lovely pack of Aleister Crowley ones in the cupboard.

I like to read them sometimes, they are like decision dice. If I don't like the answer the cards give I can give them a shuffle and have another go until I get the answer I want Smile

My granny used to read tea leaves she used to make up any old shit for a laugh so I guess being psychic runs in the family Wink

"Fortune telling" is loads of fun. Its such a shame some people take it seriously, and that some evil scammers prey on the vulnerable.

Sorry, this answer is probably not what you were looking for, but never mind you can always keep going until you get the answer you do want.

Anewme2018 · 23/05/2018 20:07

I find there more accurate if read by an extremely good psychic or medium who can read you without them. Just remember while they can be accurate depending on the ability of the reader. Your future is not set in stone. If you stay on the same path, there is a strong probability it could come true. However if you change your path, it might not come to pass. We all have free will and your future is created by YOU. It’s your thoughts and actions today that creates your future.

caffelatte100 · 23/05/2018 20:10

No I don't. I think it's rubbish....

malfoyy · 23/05/2018 20:10

Nope utter bollocks.

I used to when I was a teenager as I wanted to I suppose!

Amanduh · 23/05/2018 20:10

No obviously

Catmum26 · 23/05/2018 20:13

I had a reading a few months ago with tarot cards and I’ll be honest some of what was said was rubbish. However the lady told me some difficult things about my past that she couldn’t have known and she also told me i would Get pregnant and it would be a shock as i will Be a few months along before i found out and my scan would be in May. This was true and i had My 12 week scan 2 weeks ago. She also told me my marriage would be tested but my husband loves me a lot i just Need to stick with it and everything will start getting better in May. This is also true. Some people are con artists but i do Believe there are people out there who do genuinely have some kind of gift. The cards are just the tool to help the person conduct the reading

LooseyInTheSky · 23/05/2018 20:16

I don't but I wish I did have something that I believe in like that. Spiritualism, religion. I crave the escapism and faith that it provides. Nothing has ever convinced me though.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/05/2018 20:18

I have an open mind about these things and think there are many things we humans can never understand.

That's not what 'an open mind' means, in fact it's the opposite. Open minded implies the ability to change a judgement based on evidence.

There are lots of words for people who just believe any old drivel without evidence and lack the skill to differentiate between truth and fiction. May I suggest, in future, referring to yourself as having 'a credulous mind' or 'a gullible mind'? It will be much clearer what you mean.

"Fortune telling" is loads of fun. Its such a shame some people take it seriously, and that some evil scammers prey on the vulnerable.

I think there is some truth to this, unfortunately because it's mostly used by bad people to fleece the vulnerable, it's pretty poor form to promote it. I agree this is a bit of a shame.

Fia256 · 23/05/2018 20:41

I had it done once and almost all of it was utter bollocks. The one and only thing that did surprise me though, was the very first card I picked out was a daughter card. I was 7 weeks pregnant at the time and hadn't mentioned anything and also obviously wasn't showing. 10 weeks later we had it confirmed we were having a girl! But like I say, everything else that was apparently going on in my life was rubbish lol

SouthernComforts · 23/05/2018 20:52

Ive had mine read 3 times and the last 2 cards were the same all 3 times - death and the world. Each time they've told me this means lots of changes, new starts, difficulty, but eventually I will achieve everything I want in life.

Bloody hope so!

specialsubject · 23/05/2018 20:54

open mind is good, but not when sense spills out of the edges.

coincidence, cold reading, crooks, credulous.

Nellyphants · 23/05/2018 21:00

My aunt thought me to read tarot as a party piece. I used due it for fun in my 20s & 30s. I think I was actually cold reading people without knowing what that was.

I stopped doing it as people wanted to believe that somehow somebody knew more about their life then they did themselves
