To think in the FUCKING MODERN AGE that when you switch companies you won’t be left without broadband!!!

The switch was done BY the company, they’re the ones that let my old company know!

I would FUCKING OBVIOUSLY have had my old company disconnect my broadband tomorrow and my new one start today.

So there’s no internet to do my accounts and no fucking tv until “up til midnight tonight”

Just fuck off Talk Talk and BT - motherfuckers

Tell us how you really feel about it. Grin

You must have found wifi somewhere to post this.

Allthebestnamesareused · 23/05/2018 16:52

Good luck with BT - we were without for 8 WEEKS when this happened. I took it all the way to the top and got decent compensation!!!

Allthebestnamesareused · 23/05/2018 16:52

Twitter is your friend. Ask to escalate complaints at the earliest opportunity.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/05/2018 16:56

There’s no one to complain to as the bloody letter they’ve sent with my router says ‘up to midnight’ so if I call the smug bastarding motherfuckers they will say they have their hairy arses covered.

It’s just so FUCKING SHIT.

I'm switching from bt to Plusnet tomorrow as was less than half the price. Worried about if it's going to be hassle though.

HostaToFortune · 23/05/2018 17:01

I switched from Sky to Plusnet. No one gave a shiny shit and I spent HOURS trying to get through to Plusnet either on live chat or the phone. We’ll do you proud my arse.

Then, to add insult to injury, they told me it was a fault on the line. When it was miraculously fixed immediately before the engineer’s visit by someone from open reach plugging in the right connector at the exchange the absolute fuckers charged me £65 for an unnecessary call out.

Utter bastards.

GooodMythicalMorning · 23/05/2018 17:02

Uh oh!

MumW · 23/05/2018 17:06

Can you make your phone into a hot spot and run your computers off that?

BT managed to cock up and we were several weeks without broadband and it was in the lead up to A levels.
They offered us a suitable package over the phone and when the paperwork came through it was completely different to what we had agreed to and completely unsuitable for our needs so we contacted them. They wouldn't honour the original offer so we said don't bother, we'll stay where we are and that was when they managed to lock us out of our connection. In this house the B in BT doesn't stand for British. Grin

specialsubject · 23/05/2018 17:08

happens every time when I switch, although they are indeed very cagey about it. Phone transfers rapidly but broadband is often off until late evening.

BTW I'm now in my second year with Plusnet, with a perfect reliable connection on a line that Sky swore blind was faulty. New router and different connection in the exchange and all is well

LaurieFairyCake · 23/05/2018 17:12

I’ve gone broadband only as I don’t need the line now. Was £45 with BT for both, think it’s £25 for just broadband with talk talk.

No idea why BT wouldn’t let me have broadband only Confused

Literally never even plugged the landline in

We haven't paid full price for BT in over two years due to the amount of cockups they've created.

Five weeks without internet and different charges every month.Angry

Firesuit · 23/05/2018 17:24

I switched from BT to Plusnet a couple of years ago and had about three days without internet. This was completely unexpected, I'd switched provider a few times previously and the switch was barely noticeable it was so short.

I was lucky I'm in a flat, and have several neighbours within wifi range, so was able to subscribe to BT wifi for a couple of days.

(For those who don't know, virtually every BT-using house you past provides a wifi connection to the public. You can either subscribe, or if you are a fellow-BT user, use it for free. At least all this was true when I was with BT.)

PrettyWisdomous · 23/05/2018 17:28

Sorry OP, that's very frustrating.

I just wanted to add that PlusNet customer service is shockingly awful. Their TV and radio adverts give me the rage.

HostaToFortune · 23/05/2018 17:45

Glad I’m not the only one PrettyWisdomous. I’ve never waited less than 30 minutes to speak to someone.

scaryteacher · 23/05/2018 17:48

Talk talk cocked up out broadband, which upset ds greatly. As we were living between two houses in different countries, and had a broadband/ phone deal with the foreign provider, who is part owned by BT, the problem was solved. We used Dh's Belgian info to log into a BT WiFi hotspot. Still wasn't good enough for ds who was trialling a beta of a new game, but better than nothing.

I expect it will be BT or Plusnet when we come back next year. I won't use Talk Talk ever again.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 23/05/2018 17:52

I switched from Plusnet to SSE, only time I went without the internet was when I switched the boxes over. So all in all, about 10 minutes.

DoJo · 23/05/2018 17:58

Talk Talk are awful - they seemed incapable of understanding that we were not going to be at the house we had not yet moved into until the date we moved and insisted on sending correspondence to our sellers for weeks beforehand. Then, on a random date that they apparently plucked out of the air, they switched on 'our' broadband and disconnected our vendor's without checking whether we had moved in or not (we hadn't, of course). They were utterly, utterly useless and even though we switched away from them years ago, their name is still uttered with expletives in this house.

ImNotMeImSomeoneElse · 23/05/2018 17:59

Use a hot spot. You have unlimited data.

Easy.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 23/05/2018 18:01

Talk Talk are one of the worst. You couldnt pay me enough to go back to them.

MissionItsPossible · 23/05/2018 18:01

If you’ve got unlimited data why not use your phone as a hot spot as previously suggested? Most unlimited data packages give you 20 or 30gb of hot spot allowance, that will cover you for the night.

somethingsneverchange · 23/05/2018 18:20

I had this when switching back to BT earlier this year. It came back on after we went to bed Hmm I reckon they did that as punishment for leaving them in the first place.

BettyPitts · 23/05/2018 18:38

Please don't say you've moved to talk talk

They are the worst company I've dealt with in my 50 years of being alive. I wish I had checked their online reviews before choosing them. WiFi was down more than it was up. Shocking.

Ohcomeonn · 23/05/2018 19:24

@DoJo a similar thing happened to me with Sky. I was moving out of a rental but a few days before we moved I lost all Internet, TV and phone. I contacted Sky and they said it was because someone had taken out a new service at my address (the incoming tenant). His new contract had effectively cancelled my contract, so despite still paying for Sky, I couldn't actually use it. The best bit was that Sky's solution was that they wanted me to call the new tenant and ask him to cancel his contract as, apparently, that was the only way my Sky could be reinstalled. Didn't matter that I had no bloody idea who the new tenant was HmmConfused

LaurieFairyCake · 24/05/2018 12:11

So surprise, fucking surprise it didn’t work when I got up this morning.

They tested the line in the tortuous 24 minute live chat and found a fault.

“Really? A fault on a line that was working when BT cut me off yesterday” ??? Hmm

And they’re sending someone round my house. When I queried this as the fault is obviously at the exchange ! They offered me any time in a 12 hour window!!! So would be 2 days without internet (and I’m at work tomorrow)

I literally had to say no probs I’m off back to Bt for her to ‘refresh her screen and come up with an appointment today’

I’m blaming Mumsnet. I was whinging like a little bitch on here a month ago about the ludicrous amount of direct debits I had and people very kindly looked at the shit I was paying for - and I cancelled a load Grin or changed provider

So it’s ALL SOMEONE ELSES FAULT
