Tattooed nurses

Would you be put off by a tattooed nurse? At the moment I’ve only got them in places a patient would never see but I do plan to add some to my upper arm in the near future.

Just want to hear your thoughts and reasons!

How has this turned into a nurse-bashing thread?

Pretty clear that Rose’s issues run far deeper than an irrational hatred of tattooed skin.

Because some people are absolute fucking twats.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 15:13

A teaching assistant? A teacher?
I am neither of those things given that neither carries an awful lot of prestige.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 15:14

Why are people - nurses and others - so incredibly defensive about having tattoos? It really is odd.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 15:16

When you become shrill and abusive, then you have lost the argument it whatever obscure point you were attempting to make.
Stay calm and dignified. It really is a far better way of dealing with people.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 15:17

...or whatever obscure point... etc

RoseWhiteTips · 25/05/2018 15:18

The swearing on this forum is so infantile, incidentally. You are not coming across well when you do that.

LoveInTokyo · 25/05/2018 15:18

For the sake of children everywhere, I am very glad that you are neither.

So go on then, what is it that you do that carries so much "prestige"?

Please do share what your role is that gives you so much prestige.

Why are people - nurses and others - so incredibly defensive about having tattoos? It really is odd

Why are some of the un-inked so incredibly invested in what other people do to their bodies? It really is odd.

angryburd · 25/05/2018 15:26

"When you become shrill and abusive, then you have lost the argument it whatever obscure point you were attempting to make.

So what exactly is your point? Because all we've had so far are nonsensical ramblings about prestige and status.

ICantCopeAnymore · 25/05/2018 15:37

You can't hear shrill through an Internet forum.

You also can't tell if someone is calm or not.

I'm perfectly calm, not at all shrill and haven't lost any argument, thanks Smile

JacquesHammer · 25/05/2018 15:41

@angyburd pretty sure this is her point

Tattooed nurses

Grin

But of course. Who on Earth would want to be touched by one of those ghastly gulp... tattooed people when they could simply just die?

Willow2017 · 25/05/2018 15:45

Dignified!!!
You sure have tickets on yourself! 😂😂😂😂

CaptainCabinets · 25/05/2018 16:35

Prestige...dignified...Grin

I’m so pleased I started this thread! I hope you’re all suitably entertained and eagerly waiting to see what Rose says next! GrinGrinGrin

Hello!

We're going to need to remove this thread if the personal attacks continue - can we keep it civil, please?

manicmij · 25/05/2018 19:24

Not keen on tattoos in general but as long as a person is doing their job as expected certainly would not be put off by anyone who did have them.

Ethylred · 25/05/2018 19:52

If your tattoos might make scared vulnerable patients feel less well cared for and less secure then you shouldn't get them.
Your obligation is to your patients, nothing and nobody else.

TooManyPaws · 25/05/2018 21:18

I shared @Teacher22 's post with the friend and her consultant partner that I mentioned up thread. Immediately, he sent back that he was planning his sleeve as he typed... 😂

ToriaPumpkin · 25/05/2018 21:44

A friend of mine is a charge nurse in an oncology ward. She's heavily tattooed and absolutely amazing at her job. The two things are not linked. I also know inked teachers, Drs, military personnel, CEOs, artists, photographers, software programmers and designers, architects, midwives, quantity surveyors, models and probably most jobs you can think of. None of them are any better or worse at their jobs because they're inked. Visible ink or not.

chavtasticfirebanger · 26/05/2018 06:55

Ugh only on MN do people know inked CEOs, QCs and the like. That makes up like 1% of the highbrow jobs population ffs Hmm

BorchesterTowers · 26/05/2018 07:27

What’s wrong with knowing QCs et al.? Why the Ugh? People know whom they know, it’s not a crime.

Nothing like a bit of reverse snobbbery to show up the envy of some people.
