Is there a new thread about this?

@AdidasGirl don't you dare try and spoil my Janis for me < Regina George stare> I was trying to politely come to terms with Martha thinking of Friends Janice and keep my eye rolling quietly to myself.

Boredandtired · 23/05/2018 21:33

I am a bit jealous of Michelle Obama when she posts about Barack, I love those posts and they've bought a tear to my eye. I'm a bit jealous of Steve Backshall and his expeditions, I'd like a beautiful big garden with flowers and I'd like to cook amazing meals every day.

SugarBunker · 23/05/2018 21:34

Soz, Marsha not Martha. feel free to eye roll at me in return for that

MarshaBradyo · 23/05/2018 21:34

She’s fab, just seeing her pic was good, must watch the movie again has been ages

NeverWas1 · 23/05/2018 21:35

Threeizthemagicnumber ok. She didn't bring her midwifery skills?

And my point was that she had previous interactions with mod. And you have confirmed that thanks.

jamoncrumpets · 23/05/2018 21:36

I'm not saying you're jealous Bored, but I think some people probably are. And how could they not be when surrounded by such glossy models of parenthood?

I actually think it's fine for people to feel jealous, it's a natural, honest emotion. Influencers would be wise to think about those less fortunate than them when unboxing care packages of free brownies, or lactation cookies, post partum. Because a lot of women go home from hospital to cold homes and empty fridges.

CadyHeron · 23/05/2018 21:36

Sugarbunker - if you read again, there is. Not just on the other threads. Although they've been wittily struck out as if that makes them somehow invisible

MarshaBradyo · 23/05/2018 21:37

Yes Shruger back at you Wink
Mental blank was weird like when you meet someone again and forget their name, hardly any sleep last night might be the reason

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 23/05/2018 21:38

I haven't seen any comments on here which I think are demonstrative of jealousy

I guard my privacy and those of my DCs very carefully. I don't want any old random being able to see in my house etc or see me on holiday. I don't want free things - I would rather choose my own washing machine, thanks. And I like to make my way through life feeling that I don't owe anyone anything and I can give an honest, unbiased opinion if asked. Not pretend I like horrid Per Una dresses because they are free.

I also do not given one shit about what a bunch of internet randoms think of me. The corollary to that being that annonymous comments from some random on the internet saying I am amazeballs or they miss my teeth or I am the bestest mummy in the world are irrelevant and not something that my self- esteem is predicated on

I don't think I am in anyway unusual and I would assume the vast majority of other posters on this thread are the same.

Threeizthemagicnumber · 23/05/2018 21:39

@neverwas1 They already have skilled midwives there. It's running water they lack and she certainly didn't bring any of that.

AdidasGirl · 23/05/2018 21:40

Apologies again @SugarBunker

I'm just off to practice my routine to Jingle Bell Rock to try and make up for my mistake.

MarshaBradyo · 23/05/2018 21:41

I really don’t want to follow or be followed. So I don’t have any desire to make comments on some random person’s life like the fans do - I don’t get that mentality at all

But I don’t need it either. I love privacy - I do like a chat on SM hence here but I just couldn’t imagine the need for fans

CadyHeron · 23/05/2018 21:41

Jamoncrumpets - as you say, there will be some who are. Human nature, I suppose. Although when it cumulates in some trying to tear others down or make them feel they can't post anymore as it's rubbing faces in it as has been implied, that's not the IGers fault, is it. Maybe I'll just never get the mentality and bitterness that makes some want to do that.

MarshaBradyo · 23/05/2018 21:44

I don’t think there was bitterness, not on my part any way - and I’ll assume others the same

I genuinely want to get to grips with the new SM world and the effect on children. There hasn’t been a very good discussion still as it’s so easy to get sidetracked by accusations of bad feeling

jamoncrumpets · 23/05/2018 21:45

Oh I agree Cady, jealousy isn't a reason to be an awful bitch. But I guess everyone has a tipping point, and the less reasonable (dare I say less intelligent?) probably have itchy trigger fingers.

SugarBunker · 23/05/2018 21:46

Hmm are we pretending not to notice the name change then

Anyhoo -

@AdidasGirl that's better Smile I love that part

Boredandtired · 23/05/2018 21:47

I'm not sure what the greedy, grabby point is, but some of them definitely are! Some have no shame. And it's so rife that now as soon as someone's account gets over 15k I assume every post asking for recommendations is actually on the blag. One of previous preferred ladies who just had a very subtly storied #gifted weekend away is now asking for holiday recommendations and I just think ohbhere we go, anyone wants to send Instas most photogenic family on a freebie!

ElspethFlashman · 23/05/2018 21:48

People I actually am jealous of in Instagram :

Celeste Barber - she's hilarious and has a smiley face and a Hot Husband who is often shirtless.

Cara Sutherland, purely for her lovely hair.

Kat Farmer for her kitchen. Total fantasy kitchen. Her pantry cupboard makes me weep with jealousy.

Tola Okogwu cos I wish I suited glasses as much as she does. She's just gorgeous.

Grace Dent and Giles Coren for getting free restaurant meals every other night.

ThesineadBurke cos she's so clever and so brainy and is on the cover of magazines and is doing Ted talks and speaking at Davis and everyone thinks she's amazing.

That's it. That's my jealousy list. The rest? Not so much.

PavlovaPrincess · 23/05/2018 21:48

Oh yes, the 'recommendations'.

Did we ever find out if DLAM got that car seat she after?

PavlovaPrincess · 23/05/2018 21:49

She was after

ISayOldChap · 23/05/2018 21:51

She hasn't had the baby yet so time will tell.

jamoncrumpets · 23/05/2018 21:52

I'm not saying you folks on here are all jealous. I'm saying that some people will be jealous. Are bound to be. But don't think I'm calling you all jealous of Instamums because I'm definitely not. I'm not jealous of them particularly. I just want to eat their lunches.

AdidasGirl · 23/05/2018 21:59

The other thing I often wonder is who exactly watches Mummy Youtubers who make endless videos about speed cleaning and Poundland/Primark Hauls?
Who wants to watch these people buy crap they don't need bargain finds twice a week?

ISayOldChap · 23/05/2018 22:01

I don't see any appeal in youtubers. While stories were a novelty initially, I prefer not to have to listen to the talking.

CadyHeron · 23/05/2018 22:01

There's something quite addictive about those YouTube haul posts Blush you find yourself watching them then having a moment of "why am I watching somebody unpack and talk about their shopping?!" Grin
