To think there's absolutely no reason for FIL to be spending the day topless in my back garden

Just that really.

I live in the south of England and my inlaws are visiting. As the sun's out, FIL has seen fit to spend the day in my back garden with his top off.

It's making me feel physically sick and I feel for my poor neighbours whose gardens look in on mine Sad

AIBU, or should FIL put it away? 🤢😷

he should put it away. We once had a neighbour (in his late sixties and somewhat fat) who liked to garden in his speedos. He even chopped down a tree only wearing speedos! Not exactly aware of health and safety (or a healthy diet).

Pengggwn · 22/05/2018 18:43

He is doing nothing my dad wouldn't do, apart from the sunbathing itself. Don't see the issue and think you sound a bit mean.

Frogscotch7 · 22/05/2018 18:44

Yabu

UrsulaPandress · 22/05/2018 18:45

So you are in the South of England. How is that remotely relevant!

Oh hang on. Is your dad from ........

The North?

DotForShort · 22/05/2018 18:45

What? Why shouldn't he spend the day outside in nice weather? Why would it make you "physically sick" to see someone with his shirt off?

FuzzyCustard · 22/05/2018 18:45

Blimey, you're fat-shaming, age-shaming and diet-shaming all in a couple of posts.
Making you feel physically sick? You need to look away or get a stronger stomach!

BlueTrousers · 22/05/2018 18:45

Well aren’t you just a peach Hmm

WittyJack · 22/05/2018 18:46

"My nipples are roasting"!

Sounds like "Friday night dinner"...

OakIsBetterTho · 22/05/2018 18:46

Chill the fuck out, you sound ridiculous.

robotcartrainhat · 22/05/2018 18:49

YABU! I assume hes sun bathing? People sun bathe in gardens. I dont see the issue. As a neighbour if I saw someone topless in their garden id simply assume they were sun bathing.....

M00nUnit · 22/05/2018 18:50

Wow how very nasty of you OP.

wonderings · 22/05/2018 18:51

😮 OP you are awful, your poor FiL can't even enjoy the nice weather without being slagged off on MN.

ColourfulOrangex · 22/05/2018 18:55

Topless not an issue,m so yes YABU if he had no bottom half on then I'd agree that he was BU

CarriedAwaay · 22/05/2018 18:55

To be honest, he's not very nice to me which may be fuelling my feelings on this. He also used to come in from work and start undressing in the living room while I was just sat there. He'd take his tie off, shirt and then take his belt off, then head upstairs to finish getting changed. Used to really creep me out. Seems on this occasion, I am being unreasonable.

OP posts:
LittleMermaidRose · 22/05/2018 19:14

That's not very nice of you to say.

Why not let him enjoy the sun?

Because you don't like the way he looks??

I'm sure you wouldn't want to be treated that way. You're probably no model either!

CarriedAwaay · 22/05/2018 19:16

It's absolutely nothing to do with looks/appearance. I just want to clarify that.

LemonysSnicket · 22/05/2018 19:17

Would you be ok if it was David Beecham? If so ha I

LemonysSnicket · 22/05/2018 19:17

Beckham* wtf

Yabu*

Ashedload · 22/05/2018 19:18

Why would it make you physically sick if not for looks?

CarriedAwaay · 22/05/2018 19:20

Come to think about it, I think it's because he creeps me out a little. He's very chauvinistic and constantly makes jokes about women etc. Sends graphic memes to DH etc and I find him pervy. I think that's why I'm feeling repulsed.

OP posts:
sonjadog · 22/05/2018 19:20

YABU. I don´t get the problem. It´s hot and he is happier with his shirt off.

Storminateapot · 22/05/2018 19:20

Bloody hell! My 53 year old DH was gardening all weekend with no top on. He's no Adonis bless him, but he put on plenty of sun lotion and has caught a bit of tan, was in his own garden bothering nobody.

Knob out I'd see your problem, but top off...? I think you're being excessively prudish. What's the harm?

LittleMermaidRose · 22/05/2018 19:21

I don't understand why it would make you feel sick then, or what he should "put away" if not for his body?

Why would you feel bad for your neighbours?

sonjadog · 22/05/2018 19:21

His personality has nothing to do with not having a shirt on on a hot day.
