Sorry for using aibu. I need some advice, I don't have a GP at the moment and I'm wondering if this can wait until I can register when we've moved?

My period is so heavy, I've got pain in my abdomen, thighs and shoulder. I'm definitely not pregnant as I did a test last week but so far today I've saturated a cheap reusable pad, to my clothes, had to buy new underwear and jeans and i bought 3 packs of normal pads. I've saturated 4 night time pads since 4pm today, I had to come home from our lovely night out early as I just felt so Unclean and in a lot of discomfort.

Iv had a bath and that usually stops the bleeding for a bit but it didn't this time and when I got in it looked like a massacre!

Aibu? Should I just ride it out and see if I can register with a GP ASAP or does this need something sooner than next period?

Thanks

How frightening that must have been OP. Try to focus on the positives: that you got to hospital and were treated - as a PP mentioned, you may find that you have some emotional struggles at some point. I wish you a swift recovery.

Gosh. This is the second time I’ve followed a thread on MN in which the advice of others persuaded someone to get seen, resulting in the discovery of a potentially life threatening ectopic pregnancy. There was a post about eight years ago with a similar outcome..

Well done those who pushed for OP to get help. And well done 101 service (for once!) in sending an ambulance.

tinkerbellone · 22/05/2018 12:24

So sort you’ve had to go through this.
Very pleased you got to hospital in time.
Warm hugs and best wishes OP xx

tinkerbellone · 22/05/2018 12:25

*so sorry

Pastaagain78 · 22/05/2018 12:30

I’m sorry this has happened to you. Be gentle with yourself.

theplanetjanet · 22/05/2018 12:31

So sorry to hear that OP, I hope you make a quick recovery. Just to say I’m so glad I didn’t post on here - what you described in you OP is ‘normal’ for me every month (have had referrals/biopsy/scans etc, waiting for an ablation - so not ‘normal’ but not urgent). Just goes to show we can’t diagnose over the internet & need to be careful. I’m glad you got a lot of call 111 posts.

AndInOtherNews · 22/05/2018 12:33

Oh my god OP, so sorry to hear this but thank god you went to hospital. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

fattygettingthin · 22/05/2018 16:01

Drs have been, I think I'll be in for a few days. I'm feeling really shitty right now. God they're desperate for you to get up and walk quickly aren't they?! I had to go for a 'wander' this morning with physio and sat out in the chair today. Feel shocking!

I feel a bit sad but I didn't even know I was pregnant so I can't really feel too bad. I haven't asked how pregnant I was but it must have been quite as it ruptured the tube. We weren't trying and have no plans to do so until I get my weight down- hence the name and other thead!!

I do feel bad though as if maybe my weight caused it? But I don't want to ask because the outcome is still the same. But this is a giant wake up call. I'm 28. It will hopefully take a year to lose weight.

BuntyCollocks · 22/05/2018 16:08

Your weight never caused an ectopic pregnancy, please don’t ever feel that.

fattygettingthin · 22/05/2018 16:09

@BuntyCollocks thank you. Thank you so much

Caribou58 · 22/05/2018 16:14

Weight doesn't cause an ectopic pregnancy.

They want you to walk asap after any surgery because of the risk of clots, so try to drag yourself about as often as you can. Just getting out of bed and standing regularly is a good idea, as well as walking as much as possible.

I hope you feel better soon - you did the right thing and it's a good message to all that ringing 111 if things don't seem right is a good idea.

Fibbertigibbet · 22/05/2018 16:15

Your weight didn't cause this to happen, this is just one of those really unfortunate things. I know you feel awful, but please mobilise as much as you are able, pregnancy (even ectopics) and surgery are risks for blood clots, so even if you're just lying in bed or sitting down, make sure to move your legs about a bit, like the exercises you do on planes.

Flowers for you. You've been through so much in the last 24 hours!

Melamin · 22/05/2018 16:19

Definitely nothing to do with weight. When I was checked out for ectopic (long time ago, sorry) they told me that it was usually under 6 weeks.

I was 28 when I went though a stop-start miscarriage that ended in a D&C where they found nothing and then started to investigate ectopic (and do the tests that people normally had before a D&C Hmm) It was all very shocking and traumatic - I was alone, and had never been in hospital before. The hormonal ups and downs were a bit of a rollercoaster. Be kind to yourself. None of it is your fault - stuff happens Flowers

BuntyCollocks · 22/05/2018 16:19

@fattygettingthin anytime. Be kind to yourself. You’ve been through a hell of a lot ❤️
