I mean one minute you’re in la teaching yoga the next you’re meeting the queen, accompanying your daughter through crowds of 100,000s of cheering crowds knowing millions are watching round the world, you have no other friends or family there to support you, yet you look calm, dignified and absolutely stunning in your outfit. What a wonderful lady

My mum attended my wedding alone too. My friends kept her company afterwards. Single mums rock.

TheFatkinsDiet · 19/05/2018 20:38

I think she looked amazing and also very calm. Must be all the yoga! Definitely going to start doing more yoga...

NonnoMum · 19/05/2018 20:41

I heart Doria. Well done that lady.

kitkatsky · 19/05/2018 20:42

I thought she was amazing, but I felt so sad for her sitting alone in the church. Whatever tradition dictates I wish she'd been sitting with Charles and Camilla and having support with the attention. If I were her I would've been absolutely bawling

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 19/05/2018 20:43

She was calm and radiant, I thought. Perhaps it’s the yoga. Whatever, I thought her lovely.

TheRealMotherGoose
And to see a prince's mother in law with beautiful dreadlocks! I also admired the discreet nose stud, but there is such stigma and pressure on black women to chemically treat and straighten their hair that it shows real oomph to keep it natural and she looked fantastic and such a great role model.

Yes 100%

Formalyknownas99 · 19/05/2018 20:44

bold fail

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 19/05/2018 20:44

Shame Diana’s not still here. She’d have sat with her probably.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/05/2018 20:44

Doria is a total DAME.

I loved the wedding etc etc but my god do I love her, she seems to just really be concerned only with her daughter’s happiness and eff anything else.

NoseTitZilla · 19/05/2018 20:44

I was saying to DH today that I think MM possibly decided at some point (maybe even in the beginning) to only invite her mother and father, probably because all of these family issues or maybe it's what has caused them. I think her father not going meant her mother looked alone but I'm sure that her mother probably didn't get a minute to herself.

I think it must have been really surreal. Who imagines that when they have a child!? Especially someone raising a child in the US. She seems very level headed but at one point I felt there was a glimpse of sadness. Perhaps it's what a pp said about losing her to the RF or maybe it's thinking she's had and will continue to have a hard time with the press.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 19/05/2018 20:45

TheRealGoose yes she might have been perfectly fine being on her own, we are probably projecting our own feelings. I hope she felt comfortable, she certainly looked like she was enjoying it. I too liked it when she reached out to PC and he took her hand.

TatianaLarina · 19/05/2018 20:47

Presumably she was intended to sit with Meghan’s father.

augustusglupe · 19/05/2018 20:47

Yes, I wasn’t sure what to think before....but I thought she looked beautiful and held herself so well, looked serene and interested the whole time in church. She was pretty much just sat on her own and held it all together very well. She looks like a really lovely woman.

Stillnotready · 19/05/2018 20:51

I agree, such dignity and grace, but I so wanted to give her a massive cwtch too, I wonder if she had any brothers, sisters or best friends there?

missbonita · 19/05/2018 20:52

Sad?
Stop projecting, seriously.
A black African-American woman raised a beautiful, strong, intelligent daughter who has become the Duchess of Sussex - it is not sad, it is AWESOME.

Not every woman needs another person to validate their success.

PurplePumpkinPiss · 19/05/2018 20:53

She was amazing. Lovely outfit and so classy during the ceremony when it must have felt very overwhelming.

I do hope she enjoyed it though.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 19/05/2018 20:57

Maybe it wasn't sadness as such but more of being emotional because her DD was getting married and possibly because of the whole carry on last week.

tillytoodles1 · 19/05/2018 21:00

I thought she was fabulous, but she looked a bit out of her depth.

Petalflowers · 19/05/2018 21:05

I thought she looked fabulous as well, as well as proud and emotional.

VivaKondo · 19/05/2018 21:05

she seems to just really be concerned only with her daughter’s happiness and eff anything else.
That stood out for me too.
And in clear contrast to the RF who feels they have to obey rules and keep stern and collected. Which makes them look like they just don’t care iyswim (even if they do)

I thought she looked like a queen in the way she was holding herself actually.

RJnomore1 · 19/05/2018 21:08

She was very regal in her demeanour.

As an aside I noticed she has the same eyes as Meghan. Very warm.

ItsalmostSummer · 19/05/2018 21:10

Oh i think she did so fab. I can only imagine seeing the royals throughout the 80and 90s and seeing the Queen, Diana and Charles and seeing Diana die (just though media) and hearing about these “royals” from afar and I cannot imagine what it’s like for her now to be part of the family and joining in with all their traditions and ways. I mean how weird for her. I think Megs mum has done awesome and Meg can be proud.

Juiceylucy09 · 19/05/2018 21:11

Megan's mum was beautiful, I was emotional watching it, she held it together very well.

I did find it sad she had nobody a friend or family member, and for Megan without a MOH. I don't know the ins and outs of it all. They looked very happy and I hope it continues.

Juiceylucy09 · 19/05/2018 21:13

Meghan Blush

fuzzywuzzy · 19/05/2018 21:13

I thought she looked fabulous, carried herself with grace and poise & she was clearly very emotional but I’m sure I will be also when my girls marry. Especially if any of them marry someone in another country and move so far away from me.

Can see where Meghan gets her own poise she has an awesome mum.
