Have looked online but can’t see yet and thought the answer may be quicker here! My 9 year old wants to play and need to do some research! Thanks.

I have a ten year old and no I won’t let him play it as it’s a 12 and I don’t like the content. I see day to day the damage too much or lack of supervised gaming creates. I choose to parent as I see fit and hope others do too. Sadly I think many opt out and go for the quiet life.

We’re not as good as the angel who PP. DSS has been playing Fortnite for the last couple of years, since just before he was ten. I’d left to it, he would do it all day, we let him play then he’s told it’s off now and that’s it. The problem, and the genius bit for them, is you can’t pause it. It’s not violent in the gory sense but I prefer Minecraft and it does turn children and adults into annoying dicks. You have to work out what you think your child can deal with though.

My 12yo (just) godson has been playing it for at least a year. It's not particularly violent, certainly less so than an old war film or James Bond movie, etc. But it's definitely addictive, which is something that seems to be the case with most first person shooters in general as opposed to other game types.

By age 12 I'd already downloaded the original Doom on my parents pc behind their backs, which is 10x more violent, so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask. I do find more women offended by it though, and I don't think it's because of anything graphic about it so much as the basic fact that it's about shooting people (something which a lot of boys seem to enjoy playing at but which my sister and her friends seemed distinctly uninterested in).
