I want Simon Mayo's Drivetime back!!

Listening now to Jo Wiley whining on about something in a very monotone voice. I've started switching on for the confession at 6:10 and then I turn off again. I REALLY CAN'T STAND HER!!!

Loved the old Drivetime and am a big Radio 2 fan but I can't listen to the new show. Shame on the BBC.

Glad it's not just me and that I am not being unreasonable. At least on Friday it's just Simon for All Requests Friday (At least I think it is)

Jo Wiley is a drive time joy sucker, great name for a band btw.

It’s shockingly bad and poor Simon sounds deflated while Jo is all chipper and chatty regardless .

LarLar - I've stopped listening to it. Jo's voice is a late evening one. Most of the time it's just noise. Makes me sleepy.

And where’s Matt gone?

I'm not hugely keen on Simon Mayo so never listened to the show but it seems a shame for those people who loved it for the BBC to radically change it. It would've made more sense to have given Jo Wiley, Sara Cox or Zoe Ball (assuming this was done to give a woman a primetime show) Steve Wright's slot.

Jo Whiley can’t do chat and funny which is what Simon Mayo’s show was. She’s all about taking music seriously and new bands, which is fine at 8pm. My favourite show in the 90s was Evening Sessions. But not for drive time.

They played Kylie last night, lovely, lots of fun. Then Jo Whiley went off on a spiel about Snow Patrol and played the most boring dirge by them. Brought me right down!

totally agree! My drive home is now ruined, what are our alternatives? Anyone found anything else good or is it CD's from now on? x

I love Jo Whiley.
I really don't think that the Mayo/Whiley combo is working: they have such different styles and hence types of listeners.

So this evening life ‘hacks’ ( I hate that word) is looking for tips on how to get to sleep.

Listen to re-runs if this show. That should do it in double wick time.

Izzy - I was just thinking it's very soporific.

I'm trying again, but instead of my brain having a gentle buzz it's almost asleep. So glad I'm not commuting. SM just talked and I had a slit moment of being back to where it should be. Sad.

Haven't the BBC ever hear "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Simon Mayo's Drivetime was the perfect show for that time of day. Why ruin it when there's Chris Evans and Steve Wright who both have shows that could do with a shake-up?

I’m not an avid listener but when I did it was a fun show.
Drove home tonight a bit later and it was so dull. The interview with the actor was flat and Simon sounded a bit bored / already checked out.
Her early evening show was ok ( used to listen one week night playing cabby for clubs with the kids) and she was far more interesting. Putting them together was a odd move.
maybe Simon will be off in the summer? I know I would.
