Do I do something with this cat??

Sorry, not really AIBU, but needed some replies sooner rather than later.

I haven’t seen my neighbour for days, not actually sure when I did see him last. Have knocked his door twice over the weekend regarding something else, and no reply.

His cat has been in the communal close on and off over these few days and I’m feeling increasingly sorry for him.

Can I give him milk?? I know it probably best not to feed him, but is a little bowl of milk okay?? (Only have semi skimmed).

Sorry, if this seems ridiculous, but I don’t know what to do for the best. I know cats can fend for themselves, but last time the neighbour went away, I know he left the cat with a family member.

WeWere Hopefully there’s an explanation, or a misunderstanding on my part, for the neighbour not being around. But I’ll sleep better at night knowing the cats getting pampered fed at least.

I’d be ringing CPL even if the neighbour does come back! It’s not on to be fucking off and locking your cat out with no access to food or water Angry

You sound marvellous OP Flowers

MorganKitten · 15/05/2018 14:30

There's special cat milk. Or leave some food out.
Or give him some treats, i have two of my own (They can't go out due to being sick) but ended up with treats in my bag for the wildish cat that lives in the park near us.... I am that crazy cat lady....

Also maybe check next door is alive?

MorganKitten · 15/05/2018 14:33

oh also with the water, some cats wont take water if its near food - its an instinct thing, the food is 'dead' its near water so it could make the water bad... if you see what I mean...?

DragonsAndCakes · 15/05/2018 14:38

I don’t know whether to be more worried about the cat or the neighbour. I hope they’re both ok.

SneakyGremlins · 15/05/2018 14:51

Dragons well I'm more worried about the cat Grin

rageface · 15/05/2018 21:47

WTF am I going to do with this cat?! DS is now out putting his emoji cushion out for it because he doesn’t want it to have to sit on that “bristley thing” 😫 (our doormat)

Ummm. Well, both of mine are rescues, one was abandoned by her previous owner Sad. An unneutered female Sad. So, if I were you I would either take cat for a chip check at the local vets OR if you are on FB then look out your local lost and found pets page. There may be someone there who has a scanner.

You've said that you know your neighbour isn't at home, so I'd feed the kitty for a while then see what pans out. You may have a new pet Grin.

Want2beme · 15/05/2018 22:07

Well, you see, this is what happens with the furry little fuckers darlings. They just have a knack of guilt tripping you into submission. One minute you've never had a cat, then suddenly you have 1, then more and more. If you know what's good for you, don't fall under his spell, not like the rest of us slaves haveGrin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/05/2018 22:13

Could your neighbour have been admitted to hospital?

If still no neighbour tomos I would ring cats protection for advice. I understand the risks of feeding someone else's cat but given the circumstances I think you are right to op

catandlemur · 15/05/2018 22:21

Didn't take the cat long to rehome itself. Grin Sounds like your DS is happy with his new pet.

rageface · 15/05/2018 22:23

He’s eaten all the tuna, and licked the bowl dry that I put the kitten milk in (all Tesco had)

Wee sausage, but I don’t want a cat Blush

Luisa27 · 15/05/2018 22:26

Oh bless him 😥

SneakyGremlins · 15/05/2018 22:27

Well you've got one Grin

rageface · 15/05/2018 22:30

I don’t think I’m feeding him enough? I just gave him 80g of tuna?

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 15/05/2018 22:34

I didn't want a cat. My furry overlord is snoring gently on my shoulder. They're pretty low maintenance except for mine
Just make sure there is some water down, if you have any of the cat biscuits then leave some of them out

TheMaddHugger · 15/05/2018 22:36

Congratulations, You now have a cat

Can confirm from bitter experience that you are now, indeed, a cat owner.

catandlemur · 15/05/2018 22:40

Our cat has the 80g tins, if it was up to her she'ld have 100kg tins Grin but the vet said not too much as its bad for her teeth (and she puts on weight with lots of tuna) so she also has the dried food, the Friskies dry chicken food. They generally don't stuff themselves silly with the dry stuff.

catandlemur · 15/05/2018 22:43

If you are offering unlimited tuna you may find you soon have many cats. It won't just stop at one. Grin

rageface · 15/05/2018 22:44

But I’ve only fed him the fish fingers last night and the tuna tonight. And god knows when he’s eaten before that.

But he doesn’t look scrawny. He could be eating like the King Cat elsewhere for all know!

SneakyGremlins · 15/05/2018 22:46

Still no signs of life the neighbour next door?

rageface · 15/05/2018 22:48

Not a peep.

rageface · 15/05/2018 22:49

His name’s George, my other neighbour tells me.

King George. 👑
