People using 'cross' for annoyed, and 'dear' for expensive.

IVflytrap · 12/05/2018 10:55

"Sleeps". As in "Only 10 sleeps til holibobs!!!!"

No.

Also picky, as in “we had a picky tea”

Yes that is grim. Reminds me of scabs.

Mama bear
Proud mama

Just no.

Stillblundering · 12/05/2018 11:11

Hollibobs and my bad. Just awful!
I'm going to sound horrible but I hate the term "crossing over rainbow bridge" when a pet dies. I adore animals but think it's such a twee pathetic term.

Stillblundering · 12/05/2018 11:12

Are most of our pet hates to do with grown adults talking like babies maybe??!

Neversayever · 12/05/2018 11:12

crossing over rainbow bridge

Never heard that phrase used once in my entire life.

Stillblundering · 12/05/2018 11:18

Neversayever I'm in the UK but suspect it's another Americanism Brits have taken on. It's rife on Facebook, as is so much childishness! As I say I have so much sympathy for the loss of a pet, they become like family but why does everyone need to speak like someone from the Waltons these days? Grin

PistFump · 12/05/2018 11:19

Flange

Nateismine · 12/05/2018 11:23

I hate people 'reaching out' to me.

NoYouDontHaveThat · 12/05/2018 11:28

Lots already mentioned. Plus sanpro and sisterhood. Shudder.

User467 · 12/05/2018 11:28

You's. Bad enough spoken but written down with an attempt to make it right by adding an apostrophe makes me die inside .

incinemasnow · 12/05/2018 11:32

Expecting instead of saying someone is pregnant

mrspapalazarou · 12/05/2018 11:33

Chomp

Not as in the chocolate bar, that's fine. But when someone says my baby is having a good chomp on her hands

Yalloww · 12/05/2018 11:33

Poorly. It just sounds a bit pathetic.
Moist.

Rainboho · 12/05/2018 11:34

I hate people 'reaching out' to me.

This one for me too. Especially when it’s in an email: ‘I just wanted to reach out to you’ always makes me mentally reply ‘I wanted to tell you to fuck off.’

The word ‘just’ annoys me too. I just wanted to let you know. I just thought. I just talked to. I was just wondering. Completely unnecessary apologetic word.

ThrillitDontkillit · 12/05/2018 11:41

Improper use of the word 'agony'.

For example: "My shoes rubbed, and I have a blister and it is AGONY!" or "I pulled my back, I am in AGONY" then continues to play tennis/Twister/limbo dance.

No! It hurts, maybe a fair bit! But it is not AGONY! Argh!
