To want my hair to feel clean...

QuestionableMouse · 07/05/2018 12:48

I've tried at least four different shampoos over the last few months. Nothing is leaving my hair feeling clean.

What can I try?

Last was micellar water shampoo.

Thanks

What kind of hair do you have?
Describe it

Smeddum · 07/05/2018 12:50

Tresemme deep clean is the only one I find leaves my hair really clean. But then it’s bad for drying it out too, so it’s not great.

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 07/05/2018 12:51

Have you tried African Black Soap shampoo?

That works really well.

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 07/05/2018 12:53

Clarifying shampoo

Plump82 · 07/05/2018 12:53

Pour enough shampoo for 2 washes into a little dish and then add enough bicarb to make it into a paste. Use this 2 wash your hair. Dont do it too often and you will need a goos conditioner but it gers rid of any build up. I do it once a month.

Aveda Shampure

Cien tea tree shampoo from Lidl. It’s brilliant. Also an apple cider vinegar rinse after you’ve shampooed and before you condition.

QuestionableMouse · 07/05/2018 12:55

Thank you.

Hair is thick but fine, very straight. Can get greasy fairly quickly.

It's probably build up. You need a clarifying shampoo - Redken cleansing cream is good

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 07/05/2018 12:57

I can highly recommend Paul Mitchell Clarifying Shampoo Two. It works a treat.

divafever99 · 07/05/2018 12:58

Hi op when mine feels like this I put shampoo on dry hair and give it a good massage, rinse then repeat.

Justanothernameonthepage · 07/05/2018 12:58

Have you moved recently? Changing into a hard water are can leave hair feeling horrible.

MinaPaws · 07/05/2018 13:00

Sounds unlikely but after trying loads and loads of different combinations, the only one I find leaves my hair feeling really clean is Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 apple shampoo which I'd bought for DC and used by accident one day. I now use it twice a week instead of the grown up shampoos.

phlewf · 07/05/2018 13:00

I was given a set of very expensive shampoos for my birthday. My hair hasnt felt clean since. It’s shiny but by the evening looks greasy. Also never smells clean.

I ended up using Epsom salts to give it a scrub.

I just tried that function of beauty one that you customise and they make it for you - you choose 5 properties, scent, colour etc. It's not cheap, but it's no more expensive than a brand name like bumble & bumble or kerastase. Certainly not in the same league as Philip B and his £100 conditioner! Could be worth a go?

I have the same hair type, poker straight, tendency to be oily, and use old fashioned brand Vosene every so often for a really clean feeling. The Pantène clear shampoo is also pretty good.

noeffingidea · 07/05/2018 13:03

Another vote for Tresemme deep clean here. I love the way my hair feels so light afterwards. Aldi also do a budget version of this, which is great for the money.

QuestionableMouse · 07/05/2018 13:03

I should add that I don't use any products on my hair.

Do you know if I can get any of these in sample size?

I was pleasantly surprised by Lush Montalbano (solid soap). Didn’t expect such a good clean but it’s lovely. Smells good too.

Misericord · 07/05/2018 13:05

My hair is similar to yours by the way, although gets a wave if I don’t blow dry. I find Montalbano gives it a bit of bounce without frizz.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 07/05/2018 13:05

I find most shampoos too moisturising for my greasy hair i do like shampoo bars but i also like alberto balsam shampoos

SecretIsland · 07/05/2018 13:08

Are you an every day washer op?

I used to be and my hair used to seem flat and greasy by the evening of the day I washed it. I also tried loads of different shampoos.

I was told by a hairdresser friend to stop washing everyday and let my hair have some rest time. I switched to only every other day washing it and I hated it for a few weeks - but after that it improved massively and now my day 2 hair is no different to my day 1 hair and it overall seems much cleaner and healthier. I think over washing strips so many natural oils out it's counter-productive for that clean feel iykwim.

halfwitpicker · 07/05/2018 13:08

Johnson's baby shampoo.

pinotnoirismyjam · 07/05/2018 13:09

Lush Jersey Bounce. It's got sea salt in so gives your scalp a good scrub and leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean. I've got thick and abundant fine hair too.
