To want my hair to feel clean...

QuestionableMouse · 07/05/2018 12:48

I've tried at least four different shampoos over the last few months. Nothing is leaving my hair feeling clean.

What can I try?

Last was micellar water shampoo.

Thanks

I used to use a lush bar but found it started to really dry my hair out. Will look at the custom shampoo too, thanks.

Use a clarifying shampoo.

Wash twice. First is a surface cleanse apparently...rinse then wash again using your fingertips to rub the shampoo on your scalp.

Rinse very thoroughly. I use hot water as I have the idea that rinsing with cold water solidifys any grease...I might be talking crap but that's my theory!

The sanctuary do a hair exfoliant sachet. It seems odd because it’s a bit of a scrub and feels a little bit oily itself but it really gets rid of any build up. I don’t use any products on my hair either but I get the same things as you every now and again, I think it must be shampoo build up because I rarely even use conditioner. My hair just feels lank after a while and this stuff works to make it feel squeaky clean and light again. I think the sachets are £2 each in boots and I save half for a second use.

Sorry can't keep up!

No, I usually wash mine every third or so day. Tried baby shampoo which left it feeling lovely the first time but used it again last night and it's horrible. My scalp is greasy!

I'd second (/third/fourth) clarifying shampoo, I use it once a month or so and it makes such a difference. Also, I have the same kind of hair as you and I only wash mine every 3/4 days - any more and I find it gets greasy after 12 hours. It took a few weeks to adjust when I stopped washing it every day or two days, but now it's SO much better.

jamoncrumpets · 07/05/2018 13:23

Big shampoo by Lush. It's the SHIZ.

BeyondThePage · 07/05/2018 13:23

the only one I find leaves my hair feeling really clean is Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 apple shampoo

yep - we use this one too, leaves your hair feeling and smelling really clean and fresh.

LetTheRiverRun · 07/05/2018 13:24

Mine used to feel like that then my hair dresser said I’m using too much shampoo and not wetting my hair enough before applying. Soak your hair thoroughly, use 5/10p size blob lather and rinse, repeat then condition. The first wash loosens the dirt and grease, second shampoo washes it away and conditioner locks the good stuff in. I change shampoo every month but am using the Aussie shampoo range at the moment. Moroccan oil works well for blown drying/ straightening too

bruffin · 07/05/2018 13:24

Found herbal essences the best clarifying shampoo.

Nilesthoughlovelyisodd · 07/05/2018 13:25

If you put any product on your hair, you need to wash it, and others have said a cleansing shampoo, Schwarzkopf used to do an ice clean or something similar years ago which was excellent, but I cant find it now, and I too have resorted to the Tresseme Deep Clean one. It has green I think on the black bottle, its about the only thing I can find at the moment which does the trick..

RoseWhiteTips · 07/05/2018 13:25

Simple shampoo every day, followed by Simple conditioner.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 07/05/2018 13:33

Cheap & cheerful Pantene ‘sleek’ works fir me.

corcaithecat · 07/05/2018 13:49

You're probably over washing it and/or using shampoos that contain cheaper alkaline detergents. If you scrub your scalp, you'll over stimulate the follicles to produce more oil so you need to wash less frequently and use a mild shampoo. It will take 2-3 weeks for your scalp to adjust.
Baby shampoo is shite because it's the wrong ph for hair. It's far too alkaline, similar to perming lotion.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 07/05/2018 13:49

Clarifying shampoo about once a month does the trick - I use Redken Hair Cleansing Cream shampoo. I also like L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay shampoo which doesn't dry out the ends of my hair.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 07/05/2018 13:52

Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo is a good ‘clarifying’ product.

TaytoAllDay · 07/05/2018 14:24

I had this problem too!!! Then I used DPs T-Gel shampoo & my life has been transformed. Best thing I've ever done.My hair feels so much cleaner, and lighter now. I suffer with greasy hair too. So this may be the one for you.

LaurieMarlow · 07/05/2018 14:28

Either a clarifying shampoo (the Pantene one is fine, though I'm not usually a fan of the brand) or Aveda Shampure.

mimibunz · 07/05/2018 14:44

Any shampoo by L’Anza. Great products.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 07/05/2018 16:23

I use this all the time

Wella Professionals Brilliance shampoo and conditioner Fine/Normal 1000ml

My hair feels silky and clean

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 07/05/2018 17:58

I just change my shampoo I buy every three months or so - I find if I use the same shampoo for months my hair gets 'build up' . I'm currently using original source ( the white one )

raviolidreaming · 07/05/2018 18:05

My hair gets greasy quickly and I feel I've tried everything over the years, including over-priced stuff from Rainbow Rooms and Toni and Guy.

groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/Morrisons-2-in-1-Shampoo--Conditioner/118574011 Hands down, this one from Morrisons wins! it's been a marvel and I can now miss a day 🙌🙌 Cruelty free too 👍👍

Missingstreetlife · 07/05/2018 18:16

Neutrogena. Rinse well with warm water

RainbowFairiesHaveNoPlot · 07/05/2018 18:28

Your hair sounds like mine. The only thing that ever has consistently worked on mine was Body Shop grapefruit shampoo... which the bastards discontinued.

Head and shoulders is generally OK - but DH has been buying the 2 in 1 ones which have caused havoc with my hair again.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 07/05/2018 18:35

My hair is like yours (fine, straight, wuite a lot of it) and there is only 1 shampoo...

....it is Aussie Mega, the normal one (not"moisture rich" or anything, the simple Aussie Mega one)

If you use conditioner, only use it in the last few inches of hair.

Don't use any product/spray/serum

Tadaaah

CheersMedea · 07/05/2018 18:37

Neutrogena shampoo - especially the anti-residue one.
