I love scary films and am looking for some inspiration for ones to download. I like any from psychological thrillers, to paranormal ones, to gory serial killer ones. Please let me know your favourites

The woman in white is so underrated.

PamPooveysCow · 05/05/2018 18:52

Yes to Rec, only the Spanish version tho. It scared the snot out of me. Didn't enjoy the American remake.

I love zombie films, and don't find them scary (except the above, but that was more about the claustrophobia & the ending). Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is bloody brilliant, & hilarious.

PamPooveysCow · 05/05/2018 18:56

Oh and also The Devils Backbone. Guillermo del Toro again, wonderful.

Love this thread (thanks OP) love a good horror! It Follows was great. Besides the other obvious famous ones, Sinister with Ethan Hawke was creepy. There was also a low budget one about 15 years ago called My Little Eye, not sure how it’ll have dated but found it really terrifying around the time Big Brother & reality TV took off.

Will be watching closely for other suggestions Smile

youvegottobekidding · 05/05/2018 19:23

Yes, Get Out is probably my favourite of the last 6 months or so. Pay the Ghost is quite good too.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/05/2018 19:24

Insidious 1 and 2
The Conjuring 2
Annabelle Creation

saucepot8 · 05/05/2018 19:47

Poltergeist , the original. The remake lost all of the story and humour.
The Conjuring. Scary without being runny.
The Cabin in the Woods. Just funny and scary.
The Shining.

shirleyschmidt1 · 05/05/2018 19:51

Carrie
The Omen
Friday 13th (original)
Identity
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Insidious
Dead of Night (very creepy black and white)

Hesburger · 05/05/2018 19:51

Ooh yes to REC.

It Follows and An American Werewolf in London are my favourites.

I would also add Session 9 into the mix - just because the building was so incredible and atmospheric.

VillageFete · 05/05/2018 20:00

Great thread. I love horror films, my favourite genre.

John Carpenter’s Halloween is my absolute favourite.

Anything by the absolute genius that is Stephen King - Pet Semetary and Children of the corn deserve a special mention. Oh, also 1408.

I enjoyed the twist that “The Visit” delivered.

I saw a movie on Netflix I think called “Clown” It was surprisingly good, much better than I expected. Worth a watch.

Oh there’s loads... i’ll be back to update Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/05/2018 20:04

Case 39 is also good

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 05/05/2018 20:04

Oo and Exorcism of Emily Rose. Found that quite creepy.

mzcracker · 05/05/2018 20:09

The exorcist is up there at number one but there was one I saw years ago called 'the changeling'. It was about a young boy in a wheelchair and for some reason it stuck with me and even thinking about it creeps me out.

Mamabear1475 · 05/05/2018 20:11

I love the exorcist. I'm absolutely terrified of it. I can hardly sleep when I've watched it. But I still insist on watching it. The only downside is it takes a while to get into. Doesn't really kick off until about 45 mins in

MouseRatFan · 05/05/2018 20:12

My absolute favourite is Devils Rejects then anything else by Rob Zombie.
I am also very fond of The Mothman Prophecies.... Very unsettling!

lildevil · 05/05/2018 20:19

Inbred 10:45 tonight on The Horror Channel. Im a big horror fan and really enjoyed this. Sort of a comedy horror over the top gorefest starring Paddy the vet from Emmerdale and the mum from This is England

lildevil · 05/05/2018 20:20

Also can recommend The Loved Ones. Australian horror
